Little Mouse Gets Ready is a Children's Comic Book by Jeff Smith, and a part of the Toon Books series. It was a Theodor Seuss Geisel honor book.

Little Mouse is a mouse living on a farm. One day, his mother tells him that they're heading to the barn, so Little Mouse decides he needs to get dressed for the occasion.

The book was published in 2009.

Little Mouse Gets Ready contains examples of:

  • Aside Glance: At the end of the book, Little Mouse's mother makes one.
Little Mouse's Mother: What a silly little mouse!
  • Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Deconstructed and parodied. Little Mouse's mother tells him to "go and get ready" for a visit to the barn with his brothers and sisters. So he does, putting on his clothes and making sure to slip his tail through the specially designed hole in his underpants and pants. After buttoning up his red shirt, he's ready, only for his mother to tell him "Why, Little Mouse! WHAT are you doing? ... Mice don't wear clothes." He tosses them all off and makes for the barn.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Little Mouse spends the bulk of the book getting dressed for his family's trip to the barn. At the end, his mom reminds him mice don't wear clothes. He sheds them one panel later.
  • Talking Animal: Little Mouse and his mother.
