Trappers to the rescue!

Il Grande Blek (The Great Blek) is an Italian comic book series published from 1954 to 1967.

The story is set in the 18th century, during the American Revolutionary War, and it follows the adventures of Blek Macigno (Blek Boulder), an exceptionally strong North American fur trapper who fights for the freedom of his country against English oppression.

Two other characters help Blek in his feats: the young fur trapper Roddy and the cultured and eccentric Professor Occultis.

The stories mix fight scenes with comical situations and the plots are usually lighthearted.

Il Grande Blek contains examples of:

  • Big Fun: Professor Occultis, who is a very likeable person to talk with.
  • Con Man: sometimes Professor Occultis uses his knowledge to deceive other characters for his own personal profit, but always in a comical and harmless way.
  • Heroes Fight Barehanded: Blek often relies on his fists for fighting and uses his rifle only for very serious circumstances.
  • Super-Strength: Blek shows off an incredible strength in his fights against the English army.
  • The Leader: Blek is this for the community of fur trappers he lives in.
  • The Smart Guy: Professor Occultis is the brain of the group and often contrives plans for Blek's feats.
