Henchmen is a Comic Book by Jamison Raymond and Ryan Howe.

Gary is a middle-aged man with a hard lot in life. He's too old to learn a new trade to find a new line of work, but too young to retire, he's in the unenviable position of being a middle-aged man with no job trying to do right by his daughter who's currently living with his ex-wife.

In desperation, Gary answers a vague ad in the paper for "Help Wanted". He goes to the warehouse where the job is being applied, and finds himself in the world of being a henchman for Supervillains. This means he'll be hired muscle for various villains in the city, performing various crime jobs with them. Not long into the job, he finds he's making waves in the criminal world, and may just end up making the henchman's lot in life easier.

However, he'll have quite a road ahead of him. The corporation Vimco is looking to release the Henchbot, a robotic henchman that will quickly land Gary and his new circle of friends out of their jobs. Not wanting to lose yet another line of work, Gary decides that the henchmen need to unionize so they don't end up on the street and out of work. Of course, Vimco and the various supervillains they're looking to make a fortune off of won't be content to just sit back and let henchmen take that away from them. And of course, there's still the matter of Gary's family, and trying to keep his new line of work secret from him, especially from his ex-wife.

The comic was funded on Kickstarter on March 31st, 2013. Issue #1 was published on July 10th, 2013.

Henchmen contains examples of:

  • Bad Job, Worse Uniform: Each supervillain Gary and the other henchmen work for require them to wear uniforms to match with their villain theme.
  • Bad Santa: Santa Claws, the villain Gary worked for in "Winter Blunderland".
  • Body Horror: When talking about Microwave, Weasel mentions a guy named Twin-Headed Tim. He got the name because of the massive goiter on his neck. It's not a goiter, actually. He got that from being exposed to Microwave's low-level radiation for three years while working as his personal assistant.
  • Christmas Episode: Winter Blunderland, which had Gary working for a villain on Christmas.
  • Hazmat Suit: This is what Microwave has his henchmen wear... so they don't get radiation poisoning from being around him.
  • I Have a Family: In Gary's first job, he finds a guy Bound and Gagged on the floor of the bank the Head Pin of Crime robbed. Gary takes the gag off, and the man tells him "Please, I've got kids!".
  • One-Word Title: Henchmen, obviously.
  • Precious Puppy: Gary buys one for his daughter after his first henchman job. She names it Harry (in spite of the fact that the puppy is female) because of all its fur.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Striker shows up to deal with the Head Pin of Crime, Gary decides to lead all the henchmen out of the building through the sewers. They manage to get out with all of the money, and avoid jail time, which is considered a first for the henchmen.
  • Winged Humanoid: Golden Arch Angel.
  • You Are Number 6: When Gary worked for the Head Pin Of Crime, he and the other henchmen were all dresses as numbered bowling pins. Gary was number 8.
