Gul'dan and the Stranger is a comic published digitally by Blizzard Entertainment as a tie-in for the World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion.
It features Garrosh Hellscream visiting Gul'dan shortly before he had the orcs drink the blood of Mannoroth.
Part of the Warcraft Expanded Universe.
Tropes found in this comic:
- Anti-Villain: Garrosh is trying to prevent the Orcs from being enslaved. He's also going to lead them on a war against the people of Azeroth.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Gul'dan's warriors attempt to punish Garrosh for his insults.
- Dark Messiah: Gul'dan and Garrosh are both this.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Garrosh points out that the bargain with the Legion Gul'dan proposes would make the Orcs into slaves.
- Foregone Conclusion: The opening for Warlords of Draenor has Mannoroth killed by Grom Hellscream.
- Happiness in Slavery: Gul'dan.
- Insane Troll Logic: Gul'dan more or less is fanatically supportive of the orcs becoming slaves of demons because it will make them stronger.
- In the Hood: Garrosh spends most of the comic with the hood of his cloak up before putting it down at the end.
- Mistaken for Servant: Gul'dan doesn't realize the orc he's addressing is Garrosh.
- Omnicidal Maniac: Gul'dan wants to become one of these.
- Physical God: Mannoroth is described as this.
- Right in Front of Me: Garrosh is the biggest danger to Gul'dan's plans and he's ten feet away in his camp.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!:Gul'dan: Look at me! Look what I've become!
Garrosh: Yes, look what you've become.
Gul'dan: I'm a god!
Garrosh: A god in chains. - Spanner in the Works: To Gul'dan's credit, he has no reason to assume a time-travelling orc from another reality is going to derail his plans.
- Visionary Villain: Gul'dan is this. He's going to fail, though.
- Unwitting Pawn: Gul'dan's ultimate role in the story.
