Golden Rage is an upcoming comic book limited series from writer Chrissy Williams and artist Lauren Knight, with color by Sofie Dodgson. It's published by Image Comics.
Set in a world were society abandons older women who are deemed useless, banishing them to an island, the series charts the lives and conflicts of the women trapped there.
The first issue is scheduled for publication 03 August 2022.
Pre-release information contains the following tropes:
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: From the promotional summary on the Image Comics site. "Golden Rage documents their golden years of making friends, baking dessert, and fighting to the death for survival".
- Never Mess with Granny: One of the themes of the series, as shown in the preview. The island is home to some very competent and dangerous older women.
- Bait-and-Switch Comment: The preview shows the very frightened narrator watching a battle before a muscular woman holding a bloodstained machete spots her and bellows "She is mine!”. Her next line, after the others flee, is a much quieter "Come with me if you want a bath".
- Punny Title: Riffing off Golden Age
- Shout-Out: To Terminator, via a "Come with me if you want a bath". line.
