Gaslighters is a horror comic created by John Stewart, and originally published by Violent Studios before being moved to Stewart's own Bad Donut Comics. It is crowdfunded via Kickstarter.

In the not-too-distant future, a military experiment went wrong and a zombie plague was unleashed upon the world. Many of those who contracted the virus became members of the Dying Breed, compelled to consume living flesh in order to stave off the disease's grim end. A few, on the other hand, became Everlastings, who are almost able to pass for human except that they don't feel pain and have a deathly pallor.

The Dying War ensued, and the Dying Breed were cast out into the deadlands to survive on their own, while the Everlastings were allowed to reside in the cities alongside normal people.

In the present, Everlasting bounty hunter Zoey "Nightmare Machine" Chase tries to make a living in Tor City, a black-market trading post, but her latest assignment has gone sideways, and to get herself out of trouble, she may have to confront her past and her connection to the virus.

This series contains examples of:

  • Alliterative Name: One TV host is named Desiree Dixon. There's also Nightmare's associate Rosa "Pinky" Perez.
  • The Big Guy: In the second issue, Nightmare is contracted to bring in Ricky "Rage" Taylor, an enormous zombie with a chrome plate attached to his head.
  • Bland-Name Product: Nightmare drives an electric car called a "Nikola".
  • Body Horror: Goddy, the godfather of zombie crime, is missing all of his skin.
  • The Dreaded: Nightmare gets her name from the fact that she's one of the most feared bounty hunters.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Nightmare has a healing factor due to being an Everlasting, which comes in very handy considering how dangerous it is to fight zombies.
  • Meaningful Name: Pinky's real name is Rosa which means "pink" in Spanish.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: The zombies are divided into two groups. The Dying Breed are more like traditional zombies, constantly hungering for living flesh in order to preserve themselves, while the Everlastings are able to control their hunger and do not decay from the wasting disease.
  • Shower of Angst: Nightmare learns that Killy survived her attempt to kill him just before taking a shower, and that brings down her mood considerably.
  • Take That!: In issue #3, Nightmare and Ratchet watch The Walking Dead and laugh at how contrived all the conflicts are.
  • Variant Cover: The series has quite a lot of them, including so many cosplay covers that Stewart ended up releasing a collection of all of the photo covers.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Goddy may be an undead crime boss, but the normal people living in his city love him because he's brought stability to the region.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: The Dying Breed have extremely good night vision, but at the cost of being functionally blind in normal daylight.
