Corinne et Jeannot is an old French comic series by Tabary, best known for authoring the series Iznogoud. Debuting around 1970, it is a spinoff of his other comic Totoche.
The comic follows the format of one-page gags and is centered on Jeannot, a scruffy young boy who keeps being tormented by the pretty but mischievous Corinne.
Corinne et Jeannot provides examples of the following tropes:
- Affably Evil: Corinne is the villainess but keeps a smiling, friendly demeanor, even as she plays nasty tricks on Jeannot.
- The Bad Guy Wins: It has even been used as a slogan for the series! Jeannot just can't catch a break from Corinne.
- Genki Girl: Corinne is cheerful and energetic.
- Loving Bully: Corinne is definitely a bully to Jeannot, but it is implied she has feelings for him. One Totoche story had her tell an ill Jeannot that he was her only friend.
- Meddlesome Patrolman: Police agent Bodard is always there to catch Jeannot in the act, and tends to enact Selective Enforcement even if Corinne is in the wrong.
- Nothing Nice About Sugar and Spice: Corinne is a pretty girly girl, but she is certainly not on the good side.
- Pet the Dog: Corinne will sometimes feel sorry for Jeannot and try to help him.
- Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Although Jeannot thinks he is pragmatic, he tends to be outstaged by Corinne who sure shows more energy.
- She Is Not My Girlfriend: Jeannot's attitude towards Corinne, though it's obvious he is attracted to her.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Even if things start to look better for Jeannot, it still won't end well for him.
