Child's Play is a 1991 comic series by Innovation. The plot is an alternate version of the events following the second film, in which Chucky is reborn as a new doll and continues his killing spree.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Sexuality: In the second issue, Jack Santos is revealed to be gay, which was not previously revealed in the film series.
  • ​​Alternate Timeline: The comic series is set after the events of the second film but takes a different direction than the third film that was released later.
  • Amusement Park: The fifth issue is set in an amusement park where Chucky naturally gets up to all sorts of villainy.
  • Death by Adaptation: Mike Norris ends up dying in this adaptation, while in the film series he survived.
  • Human Shield: In the fourth issue, Chucky uses a bunch of dolls that look exactly like him as shields from attacking toys.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Russ Timpone makes the very smart decision to help Chucky get his body back. When it fails, Chucky kills Russ’ three friends and frames Russ for the murders.
  • Villain Protagonist: Chucky, as per usual for the character, is the main focus of the story as we read his serial killings.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Some of Chucky’s attempted victims include harmless children.
