Main characters

     Berry
Voiced by: Mira Kawakatsu
The main protagonist; a young girl who was obsessed with discovering the truth of Phantom Zero. After an incident where she was declared dead, Berry became a member of the Ghost Detectives Club.
  • Catchphrase: Whenever she finds something interesting, she would comment it was "Love-y."

     Hack
Voiced by: Anna Nagase
A tomboyish girl who was investigating the Zero Phenomenon.
  • Ambiguous Gender: The other members of the Ghost Detectives Club do not seem to care much about whether Hack is a boy or girl.
  • Buffy Speak: Whenever she speaks about someone else, she uses rhyming words, i.e. glitchy witchy for Phantom Zero, nerdy-birdy for Berry.
  • Catchphrase: Hers is "I. Love. Ai."
  • Cheshire Cat Grin: This is the default expression on her face.
  • Genki Girl: Is very hyperactive and energetic whenever it involves something she is interested in.

Ghost Detectives Club

     Finn
Voiced by: Miyu Irino
The mysterious leader of the club who is known for keeping secrets as he has his own agenda.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: When he was a young boy, he became concerned about the pollution levels in his town. He tries to inform the government about the situation but since he was a Yurei, his login was marked as illegal leading to his district being raided. Enraged, "Bro" banishes him.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Finn is very feminine-like for a young man.
  • The Reveal: He was very interested in the enigmatic Mark Twain project so he established the Ghost Detectives Club to unearth its secrets. Finn was never interested in finding out the mystery of Phantom Zero but chose to string the others along until he got what he was looking for. Once that part of his plan was realized, he dissolved the club.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He wants to get of the trash and pollution by rebooting the waste management center's system at the cost of the little love in the district being erased.

     Hank
Voiced by: Setsuji Satou
The laid-back mechanic of the club.
  • Funny Afro: Has one that accentuates his laid-back attitude.

     Smiley
Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya
Madame 44's granddaughter and a member of the club.
  • Face of a Thug: Behind her gas mask, Smiley sports an intimidating unsmile.
  • Greed: Often she is willing to assist a client if love was involved.

     Madame 44

     Mister Watson
A strange man in a cat mask who writes notes. He is intrigued by rumors and keeps a database of them.
  • The Faceless: Never seen without his cat mask. Even when arrested by Customer Service officers, they never take his mask off.
  • The Speechless: He never speaks.

Yurei Society

     Bro
Someone who was a part of a makeshift family of Yurei that Finn was in.
  • Big Bad: While there is the Customer Service who are responsible for censoring or deleting information they do not want the public to see, Bro is the closest thing the show has to a personal main villain.
  • Broken Pedestal: Finn used to look up to him like an older brother (hence the pet name) at least until he kicks him to the curb.
  • Hate Sink: He angrily kicks Finn out of his "family" when Customer Service arrives to confiscate illegal devices including his Deco. He is also the one who leads an angry mob against Finn and the Ghost Detectives Club upon overhearing Finn stating his goal of rebooting the management system which, if successful, would remove all the love in the district. He later rats the group out to Customer Service, who proceed to track and arrest them.
  • It's All About Me: He believes that he is entitled to having love as a status of recognition even when it is pointed out people can live without it.
  • Jerkass: Kicks Finn out of their "family" but not before rubbing salt into the wound that they were all just unrelated outcasts. He makes things worse by not only leading an attack on the rest of the Detective Club, but reporting them to Customer Service; who proceed to hunt them down with borderline lethal intent.
  • Moral Myopia: He was enraged at Finn for trying to inform the government about the conditions of the district because that meant that the love that he (stole) obtained was stripped away from him. Even when told that purifying the system would cure the cases of Deco-sickness, he would not listen to reason.
  • Narcissist: When introduced, he goes around flaunting the love he did not even legally obtain and thinks highly of himself so much so, that he refuses to acknowledge that the district he lived in would become uninhabitable.

People of interest

     Phantom Zero
The antagonist of the series, an enigmatic being who has the ability to erase love wherever they go. They are the (initial) reason the Ghost Detectives Club was founded.
  • Big Bad: Phantom Zero is greatly sought after due to their ability to erase love. Since their society runs on it, Phantom Zero is very much a terrorist.
