All names are in traditional Japanese order (family name first, personal name last) with the exception of the British hailing Aja Salisbury whose name is rendered in Western order.
Characters Introduced in Yatagarasu
Chadha
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: He's not dumb, but he does things like recommend the opponent eat their vegetables when he's an announcer.
- Friend to All Children: Positions himself as this, although a lot of characters still find him creepy.
- Gentle Giant
- Innocently Insensitive
- Mighty Glacier: Chadha is about as slow as a tractor and hits equally hard.
- Spinning Piledriver
Crow
- Hurricane Kick: Himezori - Yuzuruha
- Kamehame Hadouken: Ateyumi - Kagebi
- Playing with Fire: Has control over this element.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Kou's red.
- Shoryuken: Manchuin - Toriuchi
- Shotoclone: The "Ken" of the game, though he draws more so from Iori Yagami.
- White Hair, Black Heart: Subverted. While he is a snarky jerk, but he's not evil.
Hattori Hanzo Uruka
- Action Mom: To Kou, who she raised.
- Berserk Button: The one time she just freaks out on someone is when they indirectly call her old.
- Instant Costume Change: Her win pose involves switching into a far more modest country dress.
- Legacy Character: As noted on the main page (on the No Historical Figures Were Harmed entry), she is the thirteenth individual to have held the title of Hattori Hanzo.
- Ms. Fanservice
- My Master, Right or Wrong: Definitely has this attitude, but she has her limits.
- Wrestler in All of Us: She's a command grappler.
Hina
- Modesty Shorts: Kind of necessary since she contorts to point her butt at the camera as often as possible.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie: As can be seen here.
- Shoryuken: Shinenzan
Jet
- Boxing Battler: The single fighter in the series who uses this style of fighting.
- Martial Arts Headband: Though an unconventional looking one as can be seen here.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: He goes by "Jet" (or as stylized as JET or J.E.T. depending on the translation), but his real name is Justin. The initials of Jet in turn means "Justin the Electric Thunder".
Jyuzumaru Tsunetsugu
- Apologetic Attacker: When he fights Hanzo.
- Badasses Wear Bandanas
- Revenge
- Walking Shirtless Scene
Hinukan Kou
- Expy: In addition to having aspects of Kyo Kusanagi, his back story also takes after a character in another medium. Kou is an orphan who has a supernatural entity sealed within him who is raised by a ninja... like a certain orange clad ninja.
- Fiery Redhead: And Kou can wield fire to boot. Also worth noting he has green eyes.
- Hurricane Kick: Himezori - Yuzuruha
- Kamehame Hadouken: Ateyumi - Kagebi
- Morality Pet: Hanzo's.
- Playing with Fire: Like his rival Crow.
- Shoryuken: Manchuin - Toriuchi
- Shotoclone: More or less the "Ryu" of the series. Though his play style owes more to Kyo Kusanagi.
- Superpower Meltdown: The Big Bad is trying to get him to suffer one.
Shimo
- Shoryuken: Shinenzan
- Shrinking Violet: In contrast to her more outgoing sister Hina.
Kijimuna
A suppressed evil entity within the mind and body of Kou.- Final Boss: of the first game.
- Put on a Bus: The only fighter from the first game not present in the sequel Attack on Catalysm.
- Red and Black and Evil All Over: He is a red and black palette swap of Kou and has a dark red aura always surrounding him as can be seen in this video.
- SNK Boss: Full stop (and somewhat unsurprising as the developers of this game had formerly worked at SNK). Among the advantages he has over the playable fighters on the roster include:
- His Dragon Punch is unblockable.
- His super projectile and Shin Shoryuken are regular special moves, meaning that they don't require the super gauge. These two moves are supers for regular Kou.
- He has a unique super move where he temporarily slows down time almost to a standstill, making the opponent not being able to move. It is similar to Dio Brando's one from Capcom's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting games.
- His jumps are slightly higher and slower.
- He has some different damage infliction values for some moves.
- Superpowered Evil Side: Is this for Kou
