Warships attributed to the Spanish Navy (Armada Española) in World of Warships.

The thirteenth faction in the game, Spain was introduced in December 2021 along with its first ship - cruiser Canarias. The proper tech tree in the form of a cruiser line is to be released in 2023.

Spanish ships take on the role of mid-to-long-range fire support, thanks to their fast shells and good concealment. However, they have low damage per minute and mediocre maneuverability. Main feature of Spanish ships is their Burst Fire mode, in which they can fire several salvos in quick succession, at the cost of far longer reload time after that. This mode additionally increases penetration and damage of AP shells.

    Spanish Cruisers

Jupiter

Tier I Spanish Cruiser. Jupiter-class was a series of four minelayers, built in 1935-1939. Three of them, completed before the start of Spanish Civil War, were seized by nationalists, and served as combat units throughout the war. All four vessels were retired in 1970s.

Méndez Núñez

Tier II Spanish Cruiser. Blas de Lezo-class was a series of two light cruisers, built in 1922-1924, heavly based on British C-class. Blas de Lezo hit a rock and sunk in 1932, while Méndez Núñez fought in the Civil War, later interned in Bizerte and returned to Francoist government, where she served until 1963.

Navarra

Tier III Spanish Cruiser. Navarra was a one-of-a-kind light cruiser, loosely based on British Birmingham, built in 1915-1923, in time to see service in the Rif war. During the Civil War she was seized by nationalists, but was mainly limited to the training duties. She was scrapped in 1956.
  • Reused Character Design: Navarra already existed in the game as Pan-American Vicente Guerrero cruiser, based on fictional purchase of the ship by Mexico in 1930s.

Almirante Cervera

Tier IV Spanish Cruiser. Almirante Cervera-class was a series of three light cruisers, constructed in 1922-1930. All three vessels served in the Civil War, two on Republican side and one on Nationalist side, but all of them survived the war. Republican cruisers were interned in Bizerte, and later returned to Spain. All three units were retired in 1964-1970.

Galicia

Tier V Spanish Cruiser. Principe Alfonso was, in fact, one of aforementioned Almirante Cervera-class cruisers, based on British E-class. During the Civil War she stayed on the Republican side, and was renamed Libertad. She got the name Galicia only after being returned to nationalist government. Her in-game self features a slight modification of design, including replacement of two single mounts with one double turret.

Baleares

Tier VI Spanish Cruiser. Baleares was the second Canarias-class heavy cruiser, built in 1932-1937, and based on British County-class. Her career was cut short, when she was sunk by Republican destroyers in the battle of Cape Palos in 1938.
  • Reused Character Design: Her sistership, Canarias, was the first Spanish ship in the game, and two cruisers have little differences between them.

Asturias

Tier VII Spanish Cruiser. The first paper ship of the line, Asturias is the first variant of 1940 Ansaldo proposal, the very same that's used for high-tier Italian cruisers. She is armed with 4x2 203mm main battery.

Cataluña

Tier VIII Spanish Cruiser. The third variation of the aforementioned proposal, Cataluña is armed with 3x3 203mm guns.
  • Reused Character Design: Cataluña is just Amalfi with different secondaries and some cosmetic differences, as both ships are based on the same 1940 Ansaldo proposal.

Andalucía

Tier IX Spanish Cruiser. So-called "Project 138", this was a preliminary project of a new cruiser, created in Francoist Spain in 1938. Some proposals included the possibility to reuse turrets from the battleship España, but this version uses three triple 234mm turrets.

Castilla

Tier X Spanish Cruiser. A hypothetical project of a large cruiser, loosely based on aforementioned preliminary projects and Ansaldo proposals. She is armed with 3x3 254mm guns.
  • Alternate History: This is yet another Tier X cruiser that was completely made up by developers and never existed in real life.

Premium ships

    Spanish Premium Destroyers

Álvaro de Bazán

Tier X Premium Spanish Destroyer. She is essentially an Italian Capitani Romani-class light cruiser, that in the game's Alternate History was sold to Spain.
    Spanish Premium Cruisers

Canarias

Tier VI Premium Spanish Cruiser. The leading ship of her class, Canarias was one of two heavy cruisers of the Spanish navy. She fought in the Spanish civil war, and remained a flagship of the navy until decommission in 1975.
  • Reused Character Design: Real-life example - she was based on British County-class cruisers. Averted in the game proper, since her superstructure is completly different from Devonshire and London.
  • Wearing a Flag on Your Head: Her unique camo has EIGHT flags of Spain painted on her hull and turrets.
