Main Cast

     Wiley

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240313_021147_youtube2.jpg

A space alien travelling through the galaxy with his friend, ReFresh.

  • Aerith and Bob: Compared to names like "Cythera" and "ReFresh, "Wiley" is pretty standard.

  • Always Save the Girl: When Cythera gets captured by the villain, saving her and winning her affection becomes his primary motivation throughout the game.

  • Cheshire Cat Grin: He has a wide grin, hinting that he's a bit mischievous.

  • Did Not Get the Girl: After Wiley saves Cythera from the Big Bad and gives her another Super Elan, she seems grateful for his help...but then she suddenly she pushes him to the ground, calls him a twerp, and walks off for the final time.

  • Extreme Doormat: He's this towards Cythera. He keeps giving her Elan in order to gain her affection even though she's rejected and demeaned him multiple times. Thankfully, he takes the hint at end of the game and moves on.

  • Idiot Hero: He gets easily influenced by ReFresh and has no problem doing some morally questionable things.

  • Invincibility Power-Up: Wiley's "Wired Up" mode makes him invincible for a short period of time.

  • Love at First Sight: Falls in love with Cythera immediately after seeing her, despite ReFresh warning him that she's the captain of an opposing alien crew.

  • Nice Mean And In Between: The nice to Cythera's mean and ReFreshes in-between. Wiley is generally a nice guy and decides to return the Elan to all the Earth creatures at the end of the game. However, he's stupid and can be easily swayed by ReFresh into doing questionable things.

  • Suffer the Slings: Wiley's only method of attacking is by flinging himself at enemies from wires. If he's not on a wire, he'll automatically begin running around helplessly until he comes across one.

  • Timed Power-Up: Since "Wired Up" mode makes Wiley invincible, it only lasts for a couple seconds, of course.

  • Title Drop: He drops the game's title during his encounter with Super Panda Man.
Panda: So Super Panda Man hears that you want to find Super Elan, eh? Well, you're going to have to go through me first!
Wiley: Cythera, no! Hey, Super Panda Man! Let me teach you my way of doing things. The Wire Way!!!

     ReFresh

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240313_021204_youtube2.jpg

Wiley's friend and the ship captain. ReFresh is rather greedy and isn't above harming others to get Elan.

  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": His suit has first letter of his name.

  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: His sociopathy is played for laughs. After the boss fight with the hen, the next cutscene shows Wiley and ReFresh flying in their ship eating chicken legs, implying they cooked the hen and her babies. He also calls the hen stupid for ruining their chance at becoming rich.

  • Mission Control: He pretty much sits back and tells Wiley what do to.

  • Nice Mean And In Between: The in-between to Wiley's nice and Cythera's mean. ReFresh is nice to his friend, Wiley, but he's greedy and doesn't mind hurting earth creatures to get Elan.

  • Skewed Priorities: After Wiley accidentally breaks the ships controls system, it sends them crashing towards an alien planet. Instead of focusing on their crashing ship, ReFresh decides to bid an item on UFOBay because it may be his last chance before the ship hits the ground.

  • Smug Smiler: A smile like that just tells you he's up to no good.

  • Toxic Friend Influence: He encourages Wiley to mess with the hen's baby chicks and even steal her eggs.
Wiley: Those earth animals look pretty upset. Think they're mad because I plan on taking their Elan?
ReFresh: They're just jealous of your mad wire skills. Go get us some spending money! Are you afraid they're gonna peck you to death? Grab some eggs while you're at it. We can make some crepes.

  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: When the Big Bad offers to help fix ReFreshes ship in exchange to know Wiley's whereabouts, ReFresh lies and says Wiley is on Earth, which the villain believes. ReFresh was covering for his friend here, but unfortunately when him and Wiley travel back to Earth, the villain and his alien crew have completely destroyed the planet in an attempt to find more Super Elan.

     Cythera

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240313_021153_youtube2.jpg

The captain of another alien crew whom Wiley develops a crush on.

  • A Kind of One: Her name is Cythera and she's the leader of an alien crew called the Cytherians.

  • Damsel in Distress: Cythera gets captured by the Big Bad twice during the game. When she's captured the first time, she frees herself, but the second time she's captured, Wiley has to save her.

  • Damsel out of Distress: When the Big Bad captures her, she's able to easily break out due to being powered up by Super Elan.

  • Everyone Has Standards: She may be rude and only care about becoming powerful, but even she's against the main villain trying to destroy the universe.

  • Godhood Seeker: The only thing she cares about is obtaining Super Elan and becoming all-powerful.

  • Gold Digger: When Wiley attempts to talk to Cythera and give her some Elan, she rejects him because it's not enough for her and she'll only accept Super Elan.
Cythera: Who are you? What's this? You brought Cythera a gift?
Wiley: Cythera? ....pretty name... I'm Wiley and this is just a little something.
Cythera: (Pushes Wiley to the ground) "Little" is right. You gotta have "Super Elan" to hang with me. Got any of that, squirt?

  • Jerkass: Cythera is shown to be very mean and self-centered from the moment of her introduction.

  • Nice Mean And In Between: The mean to Wiley's nice and ReFreshes in-between. She is hardly ever appreciative of Wiley anytime he helps her, insults him constantly, and all she cares about is power.

  • The Smurfette Principle: She's the only recurring female character in the game.

  • Ungrateful Bastard: Cythera acts thankful that Wiley saved her, but does a complete 180 after he gives her Super Elan. She then calls him a twerp and declares she didn't need his help.

Others

     Kundo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/517yfoqkkal.jpg

An old man that Wiley encounters after crashing on a planet of fire and ice. He insists that Wiley's wireway skills need work and acts as his "mentor" for a while.

  • Anti-Mentor: Doesn't teach Wiley anything about how to improve his wireway skills. All he does is send him to different places.

  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: His staff resembles the wires that Wiley jumps on throughout the game.

  • Expy: He's based on Master Yoda. He even speaks in a similar fashion to Yoda.

  • Lazy Bum: He makes Wiley do all the work to defeat the dino. In fact, he doesn't do any mentoring at all, which Wiley calls him out on.

  • Unusual Eyebrows: His brows are so long that they're hanging off his forehead.

Bosses

     Hen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240313_160705_youtube2_5.jpg

The first boss, a giant hen that attacks Wiley for disturbing her baby chicks.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: The comb on her head.

  • Feathered Fiend: The Hen viciously attacks Wiley, but her reason for attacking is justified.

  • Monster Is a Mommy: Understandably gets angry after Wiley messes with her chicks and ReFresh suggests snatching some of her eggs.

  • Uncertain Doom: The scene after the Hen is defeated shows Wiley and ReFresh flying in their ship eating chicken wings. It implies the two are eating the hen or her baby chicks, but nothing is said outright.

     Super Panda Man

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240313_160107_youtube2_5.jpg

The second boss. He was originally a human before obtaining Super Elan, which allowed him to transform into a panda.

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: In his newly acquired panda form, he wears a red collar, a cape, has a star on his forehead, and a heart on his chest.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: Kinda. His weak point (the heart on his chest) can't be damaged by a normal slingshot attack. You have to collect enough Elan to go into "Wired Up" mode and then hit the weak point.

  • Bears Are Bad News: Tries to kill Wiley, ReFresh, and the other aliens that arrived on Earth, but he was also trying to protect the city.

  • Character Name Limits: His textbox just refers to him as Panda, because "Super Panda Man" would obviously be too many characters.

  • Energy Ball: How he attacks.

  • Graceful Loser: After Panda is defeated, he declares Wiley a worthy opponent. Panda then gives Wiley his Super Elan and proposes the idea that Wiley become his successor. Wiley declines his offer, however.

  • Hero Antagonist: He was trying to protect the city by killing the alien invaders. Unfortunately, that includes Wiley, too, so he ends up having to take Panda down.

  • Inconsistent Coloring: His cape is purple in-game, yet on the Japanese box art, his cape is the same color as his collar.

  • Magical Species Transformation: Obtaining Super Elan allowed him to turn into a giant magical panda. It seems this is what he wanted, though.

  • Tactical Suicide Boss: A variation. Panda can only be damaged if Wiley gets 10 Elan and goes into Wired Up mode. You get Elan during the fight by flinging yourself at a random bird that sits on the wires. So if Panda simply removed the bird from the fight, Wiley would have no way of damaging him.

  • Third-Person Person: Always talks about himself in third-person and makes it known that he is "Super Panda Man".

     SecuriBot

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240314_195017_youtube2.jpg

The third boss, a security bot that Wiley fights after infiltrating the villains base.

     Dino

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240315_230035_youtube2.jpg

The fourth boss, a yellow dinosaur that Kundo trains Wiley to fight.

  • Ambiguous Situation: Is the dinosaur Kundo's pet or just a wild monster? It never attacks Kundo and he refers to it as a "mutual friend", but Kundo also trains Wiley to defeat the dino.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: The red bump at the end of its tail, although it's hard to see in the image since it blends in with the background.

  • In-Series Nickname: Wiley calls it "Slimy Sal".

  • Playing with Fire: It breathes fire to attack.note

  • Your Size May Vary: Its way bigger in the boss fight than in cutscenes. In the cutscenes, its a few feet taller than Kundo and Wiley, but in the boss fight its so big that its body doesn't fit onto one screen.

     Fish King

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240318_024805_youtube2.jpg

The fifth boss, a king of fish that Wiley fights in the belly of a whale.

  • Breath Weapon: He shoots bombs and Elan from his mouth.

  • Greed: His greed arguably exceeds that of ReFresh. When Wiley meets him, the Fish King demands that Wiley hand over his Elan and threatens to eat him if not.

  • Skewed Priorities: He's totally fine with being digested in the belly of a whale and calls it a "beautiful palace".

     Boss

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240320_025042_youtube2_2.jpg

The final boss and main villain of the game. A sinister alien who wants to destroy the universe.
