Main Cast

    The Seer/Seeress
The main protagonist, and representative of the player.
  • The Chosen One: Played with. It's explained that a lot of power got dumped into them, meaning they have really specific visions that are a sight more accurate than the normal Seer usually has. When, in actuality, this loop has happened at least a dozen times before, and only now to they actually have the chance to defy fate and change the course of things.
  • Defiant to the End: Before Sovy kills The Seer in the opening vision they're given a couple of dialogue options to taunt him with that are effectively this.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Characters will refer to The Seer as whatever name the player gives them - at least in the text boxes. The actual voiced lines will still call them Seer/Seeress and later, Monarch.
  • Seers: As indicated by their title, they've been chosen by the world's Spirits to be one, bestowing them with visions of the future. Or at least the future the Triumvirate wants them to see.

    Valessa
A scribe, or one who writes down the visions of the Seer. She's also close friends with the Seer/Seeress, which helps both as a confidante and as one of the few connections to Valinorth after they leave. The more traditional-minded of the Seer's initial two friends.
  • Action Girl: Depending on your choices, in the Finale, she'll take on some Honor Guard soldiers to allow The Seer/Monarch and friends to escape to Balteus' castle.

    Ulric
A sellsword from Alarinthia. A brute on the battlefield who gets a bit of a kick out of swinging his broadsword around, he's nonetheless loyal to Damek and the Rebellion and honestly wishes he didn't have to resort to violence even if he thinks it's the only way through.
  • BFS: Ulric's huge, heavy broadsword, which impresses Fortaime when he gets a close look at it. Apparently, Ulric gets compliments on it all the time.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Time spent under the influence of the Triumvirate means Ulric is the legendary swordsman from over 1000 years ago who tried to change Alarinthia's fate before. This also affects his romance arc as everyone else's Mayfly–December Romance makes it where Ulric is more into casual flings than falling in love with one person.

    Fortaime
A scribe-in-training, meant as back-up in case the actual scribe is somehow taken out of commission. Fortaime has also been friends with the Seer/Seeress for a long time, and while he considers his position with honor, he's mostly excited about working with the Seer/Seeress rather than the significance of the position. The more worldly-minded of the Seer's initial two friends.
  • Keet: Easily the most excitable of the whole group, whether that's being excited about going somewhere or more openly nervous if things are about to go wrong.

    Pro
A member of the Rebellion whose specialty is gathering information. That being said, Pro likes to take things easy, preferring charming his way into information rather than threatening or coercing, and a bit of a "good time charlie" who will slack off if offered sufficient entertainment during his gathering.
  • The Charmer: Pro likes to fancy himself as this. Ironic when the Seer/Seeress starts using those same tactics on him during the romance arc and he starts getting flustered.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Pro was abandoned by his family and became an orphan, and he joined with the Rebellion then acted partly as The Mole for the Triumvirate. All in the idea of finding place he belonged like family.

    Damek
General of the Rebellion. After the recent death of Salus, he's trying to pick up the pieces and maintain morale among the Rebellion troops. Highly regarded both as a fantastic orator and budding expert strategist, Damek functions as the heart of the rebellion, now searching for the prophesied Seer/Seeress who might be their key to finally winning the fight against the Triumvirate.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Damek's family was killed in the Triumvirate occupation, and Damek only survived because his mother hid him in a mound of corpses. This has put him firmly on the Rebellion's side, with the side-effect of also having basically PTSD and being very touch-sensitive.
  • The Lancer: While leader of the Rebellion, he immediately becomes this to the Seer/Seeress, initially relying on the Seer/Seeress for their prophetic visions. Once the situation gets an upgrade, he offers a counter-viewpoint to Howl whenever the Seer/Seeress has to make a decision.

    Howl
The final true member of the party to join, Howl is a legion of spirits inhabiting the dead body of Salus, and thus the one with the most knowledge about the supernatural forces and visions the Seer/Seeress has. But his own state being what it is, he has a bit of trouble with visions himself, and also relies on the Seer to help him out.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: In the final battle in Balteus, Howl never uses a sword. The effectiveness is played with, as the Honor Guard go down easily to his hits, but his knuckles are bleeding since he's still punching steel.
  • Born of Magic: Howl is a legion of Spirits that inhabits the body of Salus, the former leader of The Rebellion. The combined power and energy of these spirits reanimated Salus' body and keeps it in a stable state for them to use.

The Triumvirate

    In General
  • Church Militant: The Triumvirate seems to be this - they even have a Grand Inquisitor and a church in Mazeo.
  • Walking Spoiler: The true identities of its leaders, as well as their master plan, are major endgame twists.

    Sovy
The Triumvirate's Grand Inquisitor.
  • Ax-Crazy: In the opening vision, Sovy killed and/or assimilated every Valinorth citizen even though he wasn't required to. To him, it was only for fun and sport.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Sovy doesn't need to hide behind a sword, unlike other characters, managing to best even skilled fighters like Ulric while being unarmed.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Grand Inquisitor Sovy, for the most part, beats down whoever tries to fight him.

Others

    Mylus
Current elder of Valinorth after Salus died working with the Rebellion. Despite attempts at maintaining Valinorth's peace, he's involved himself with the Rebellion for quite a while, afraid that current circumstances mean that Valinorth is about to get wiped off the map from the Spirits leaving the area.

    Shane
A member of the Rebellion - and close friend of Damek - who works at gathering intel and risky missions behind enemy lines. At the start of the game, he's been purposely captured by the Triumvirate to investigate their castle, but starting to wonder exactly how much trouble he's gotten himself into.

    Halin
One of the Triumvirate's "inquisitors", and Sovy's second-in-command and apprentice. He and Sovy don't quite get along, though, with Halin frequently questioning Sovy's true loyalties and irritated with Sovy's not-very-well-concealed irritation with him. Also a being created by the Triumvirate purely for serving the Triumvirate, which gives them a bit more influence over him than they do over normal citizens.

    Gryz
The Mayor and de facto leader of Mazeo, Gryz is a Triumvirate-installed operative who is actually working with Damek. Having formed a tenuous relationship with the Rebellion leader, Gryz allows Damek to use the underground tunnels below Mazeo as a hideout in exchange for Damek leading him to the Spirit Idol.

    Zamira

    Airen

    Alex
One of two pirate captains who make their base in Mazeo. Alex commands a smaller force, but ultimately wants to be recognized as a legitimate business again after the Triumvirate made most of their importing duties illegal.

    Spice

    Nada
One of two pirate captains who make their base in Mazeo. Powerful and ruthless, Nada enjoys the pirate life and wants a separate country made for pirates by splitting control of Mazeo.
  • Action Girl: She's a respected and feared pirate captain. If The Seer chooses to align with her she gets to prove her worth as one during Act 3.
  • Cats Are Mean: The more ruthless of the two pirate leaders and styled after a leopard or jaguar.
