Alex Hunter

Portrayed By: Keegan MacIntosh (TV)

The main protagonist of Werewolf Skin, and a visitor of Wolf Creek, the mysterious town that he is sent to live in while his parents are out to France, and his aunt and uncle's home place.

  • Adaptation Name Change: His last name is Blackwell in the episode.
  • Agent Scully: He is incredulous at the fact that almost everyone in town believes in werewolves to the point that they would be shocked by even hearing the word out loud.
  • Animal Lover: He is completely horrified when he sees a couple of werewolves eat and skin a rabbit alive, and cannot bear to watch them do the same to a live deer.
  • Awesome by Analysis: After his aunt and uncle lock him in his room so he can stay out of trouble, he decides to cleverly block the door lock with a wad of bubblegum.
  • Badass Normal: He is shown to be quite brave and trained, but in mundane ways such as photography, stalking, and deception.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He is quite a Nice Guy, but he is shown to have serious limits. He is outraged at his Aunt Martha and Uncle Colin for practically treating him like a prisoner at night for just one slip-up, and he is shown to be quite sneaky when he finds a way to sneak out and stalks the two main werewolves one night.
  • Camera Fiend: He brings his camera and picture equipment with him on his trip, mainly to win a first prize in a magazine. He even stalks the two werewolves throughout an entire night in order to mainly capture them on film.
  • City Mouse: Grew up in Cleveland, where there are very little trees and wildlife. Subverted, as he's excited to explore the wilderness and wildlife in Wolf Creek, thinking that it'd be like exploring a new planet.
  • Determinator: He is adamant on getting photographs of the town's werewolves as proof. Even when his aunt and uncle lock his bedroom door from the outside and put BARS on his bedroom window so he won't escape, he just thinks his way around that.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He may be able to tolerate his aunt and uncle's strict behavior, but when they go so far as locking him in his bedroom at night with uncomfortable security, he is highly incredulous.
  • Innocently Insensitive: When asked what he wants to dress up as for Halloween this year, he replies that he wants to go as a werewolf. Given that most of the town has a werewolf problem, with it even being named "WOLF Creek", this frightens most of the people around him when says it aloud.
  • Kid Hero: He is a very brave child who at one point saves a deer from being slaughtered by the wolves through some quick thinking, and without being caught himself!
  • Meaningful Name: The name "Alex" translates to "man's warrior or defender", and Alex Hunter is able to inadvertently defend part of Wolf Creek's werewolf problem.
  • Naïve Newcomer: He wasn't exactly prepared beforehand of the town's werewolf problem.
  • Nephewism: He is just dropped off at his aunt and uncle's place, even briefly going to school in that area because of a business trip his parents have in France. They aren't even seen at all, the story just begins with him on the bus to Wolf Creek.
  • Nice Guy: He is usually respectful and kind, and this behavior quickly wins him over a new friend in Wolf Creek, Hannah.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: He mentions how he hates introducing himself to people, as he comes off as awkward at first.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: The book ends with him being attacked and possibly killed by Hannah while the episode just has her walking in on him after he discovers her secret, simply saying she doesn't bite.
  • Stalker without a Crush: He is able to follow two werewolves throughout a whole night without getting caught.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He is understandably furious at his aunt and uncle the next morning after his first night being holed up in his room with a locked door and bars on his window. His aunt and uncle reply that they did this so he wouldn't sneak out at night. They might have a solid argument, but that was certainly going a bit extreme there.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: He destroyed the skins' hold on his aunt and uncle, and all seems well in the end. That is, at first. Then it turns out that his friend got a werewolf skin of her own, and currently has it on. She then pounces on him, sinking her fangs into his chest.

The Marlings

A mysterious couple who live in a rundown home in Wolf Creek. Alex Hunter hears mysterious noises coming from their house, and begins investigating the possibility that the two are werewolves. He only has part of the truth. There are no Marlings and there never have been. The house is abandoned except by those who use it to hide their werewolf skins. The real werewolves are none other than Alex's aunt and uncle.

  • The Ghost: They don't appear until halfway into the book, and even then the werewolves Alex goes up against are really his aunt and uncle.
  • He Who Must Not Be Seen: The only people who've ever seen them appear to be Alex's aunt and uncle. They're lying.
  • Living Prop: They were invented by Martha and Colin Hunter to act as a smokescreen for why strange noises were coming from the house next to them.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: They, or rather Martha and Colin are closer to the Skin Walker legend of Native American folklore, in that they shed their skins every morning.
  • Secret Identity: Of Martha and Colin Hunter.

Hannah Stoneman

Portrayed By: Terra Vnesa (TV)

A resident of Wolf Creek who shows Alex around the place while he's staying there.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the book, she has black hair and olive-green eyes. In the episode, she has brown hair and hazel eyes.
  • Ambiguously Evil: In the end, she turns out to have a wolf skin of her own, and she uses it to bite Alex, with the book ending right there. The TV episode ends with her sinisterly approaching him after he finds out her secret. Because of this, she actually has a profile on Villains Wiki. In actuality, it's unknown if she did these actions out of pure villainy or against her will from the skin.
  • Aroused by Their Voice: Gets this reaction from Alex, who notes that he liked her voice, which was low and husky.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Alex doesn't find out what her last name is in the book. The episode gives her one.
  • Outdoorsy Gal: She likes to hang out in the woods of Wolf Creek, and is thrilled to show Alex around the place.
