    Morgan Vera Krigsvart
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/morgan_3.jpg

Played by: Aquatica 1000
Original Art by Deltadromeus: Here.

The adopted daughter of Lucas Krigsvart and Carol Jade, Morgan Vera Krigsvart is a perky 17 year-old Raven Faunus who intends to live life to the fullest. She ends up partnered with Iris Aurion, and intends to pull the shy girl out of her shell.

Associated Tropes:

  • Berserk Button: Don’t try to attack or otherwise upset Iris. Halle and Yanmin learned this the hard way during the panty raid.
  • Closet Geek: Much like her father, she is a Giant Magical Kittens fan.
  • Dead Guy Junior: Downplayed — Her middle name sounds similar to Feros, the name of Lucas’s uncle.
  • Genki Girl: It’s quickly and easily obvious what she’s thinking about. A serious contrast to her quiet, reserved adoptive father.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Moves quick and attacks quick. Unfortunately, with the exception of the explosive-dust artillery on Nemain, she mainly attacks up close
  • Meaningful Name: Enforced. Aqua made an effort to make sure Lucas’s child would have an inspiration that fitted the last name of Krigsvart (War-Black). The result was Morgan, based on the raven-themed war goddess, the Morrigan.
  • Official Couple: With Iris Aurion.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Subverted. Despite having red eyes, she's incredibly nice and not evil at all. Unless you harm or bother Iris, of course.
  • Shout-Out: Is based on the Morrigan from Celtic Mythology, the Celtic war goddess whose patron animal was the raven.

    Iris Melody Aurion
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2ba4dee8a1de7804ea15e68ca94b8431.jpg

Played by: The Hail Stormer
Height: 5"7"
Original Art by Deltadromeus: Here.

The falcon Faunus daughter of Stormer Aurion and Chiharu Yamamoto, Iris is a shy, introverted 17 year old who loves to compose techno music. Bullied when she was younger for being a Faunus, she became cowardly, gained a crippling lack of self-confidence, and became unwilling to make friends with her peers out of fear of being mocked again.

However, inspired by her father's heroism and bravery as a Huntsman, she decided she wanted to become a Huntress to defend the kingdoms just like her ancestors before her. Fresh out of Signal Academy, she enrolled in Beacon to become stronger and braver, and to honor her family's heritage and make her parents proud of her. She's partnered with Morgan Krigsvart, who she considers to be the nicest person she's seen outside of her family in a long time.

Associated Tropes:

  • All of the Other Reindeer: She was subjected to bullying when she was young for being a Faunus, leading her to become alienated from everyone except her family.
  • Attack Drone: It's basically this, controlled by a baton-like device by Iris.
  • Badass Adorable: She's one of the most Moe members of the cast, but can still competently fight just as well as the other students when she works up the courage to.
  • Break the Cutie: The bullying that she endured as a young child caused this on her, and made her the shy, insecure girl that she is today.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Purple and lavender, just like her namesake flower.
  • Cowardly Lion: She tries to be brave, bless her heart, but she gets scared quite easily.
  • The Cutie: Her shy and cowardly nature along with her niceness makes her one of the more adorable characters.
  • Energy Weapon: What the drone fires out.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Iris has a fondness for stuffed animals and even had a bunny plush as a child.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She's not too formal, but she is polite and very feminine.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Her mother's a Falcon Faunus, but her dad's a bona-fide human.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Type B. She wants to have friends, but the bullying and torment she suffered from other children during her childhood has made her reluctant to do so.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: One of the reasons she wants to become a Huntress is to become stronger and braver.
  • Invisibility: Her Semblance, with the added ability of being able to phase through solid objects while it's in use.
  • Lovely Angels: Has a sort of dynamic like this with her partner Morgan, and they both happen to be avian Faunus.
  • Meaningful Name: Iris shares her name with a type of flower (which happens to be purple in color). Now what was her mother's occupation again?. She's also named after the Greek Goddess of Rainbows, and her weapon's power is firing beams from different colors of the Rainbow.
  • Nervous Wreck: Most of the time, she's incredibly nervous. It causes her to have a bit of a stutter when she speaks as well.
  • Nice Girl: Underneath her shyness, she's incredibly kind and caring to others.
  • Official Couple: With her partner, Morgan Krigsvart, after Lover's Day.
  • Personality Powers: A shy girl with invisibility? Where have we seen that before...?
  • Purple Is Powerful: She's training to be a Huntress, and is primarily associated with the color purple.
  • Rainbow Motif: Her attack drone has 6 different laser types that are inspired by different sub-genres of techno music, each one a different color and powered by a different kind of Dust:
    • Trance (Red): Fires three red tendril-like beams that lock on to a target, but deal weak damage.
    • Chiptune (Orange): Fires two orange balls of energy in a v-shape that can travel across any walls and floors that they contact at high speed to reach her target.
    • House (Yellow): Fires a yellow beam that heals any damage her target may have taken, as well as helping feel rejuvenated and ready to get back into the fight.
    • Breakbeat (Green): Fires a large green laser blast that's slow moving, but is the most powerful of all the lasers.
    • Synthpop (Blue): Fires 4 blue laser shots in a spread that can reflect off of walls and other surfaces. Most effective in an enclosed space.
    • Dubstep (Purple): Fires a normal-sized purple beam that projects a small drill from the drone.
  • Reflecting Laser: The drone's Synthpop (Blue) laser is basically this.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Iris' Intangibility powers are selective, which prevents her from falling through the floor, allows her to breathe properly, and also allows her to see and hear normally when in use.
  • Short Teens, Tall Adults: She's only 5"7", shorter than both of her parents.
  • Shout-Out:
    • She's heavily based on Iris Aurion from Unchained Lightning, though with a heavily reworked backstory and personality.
    • Her beret is a reference to another character named Iris who wears a beret as part of her outfit. The beret itself resembles those worn by soldiers of the NOL.
    • Her Semblance is inspired by Luigi's Vanish Flower Power from Super Mario 64 DS.
    • The drone's Trance and Breakbeat lasers are based on the Red and Green weapons from Xevious 3D/G, and its Chiptune and Synthpop lasers are based off of the Yellow and Blue weapons from R-Type.
    • The drone's name and appearance were directly inspired by those of 343 Guilty Spark, though it's design has changed to resemble a Ghost as of 2.0.
    • E.D.W.I.N. is very much based on J.A.R.V.I.S. from the Iron Man films.
  • Shrinking Violet: Very shy and introverted.
  • Sweet Tooth: She loves sweets, especially chocolate with caramel filling.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: One of her reasons for wanting to enroll in Beacon in the first place is to make her parents proud of her.
  • Winged Humanoid: Has a pair of beautiful white wings on her back as a result of being a Falcon Faunus.

    Ragnaros Alexander Remington

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4d6ff6632cb3459586ba3b4add417e17.jpg
"A Remington is a protector first and foremost."

Played by: Fergard Stratoavis
Faceclaim: Nagito Komaeda
Height: 6'1''

A complete opposite of Hope Remington, Ragnaros Remington(Raggy for short) is a boisterous, loud and ambitious youth with a temper as hot as the depths of the volcano. Here to fight a good fight and enjoy himself doing so, he sets out to Beacon on his mother's suggestion.

Associated Tropes:

  • Ancestral Weapon: It remembers times of Castor and Ignis Remington, which is a lot of years back.
  • Berserk Button: He seems to have a very short fuse when it comes down to racism, as the case of Ricardo demonstrates. Also, don't you dare hurt Lena. You might not like what really dwells within him.
  • Big Ego, Hidden Depths: Beneath the boisterous fancy facade lies a vulnerable, bitter man with no sense of appreciation towards himself. Lena might be able to snap him out of this however, if his latest comments are anything to go by.
  • Blood Knight: Loves fighting immensely. At some point in his life it stopped being a pleasure and became a drug, though Hope managed to snap him out of that funk.
  • Car Fu: Almost never seen in battle without his trusty Spinebike.
  • Chairman of the Brawl: His main weapon seems to be a folding chair.
  • Fearless Fool: His reaction by being at the mercy of Alice Vale herself? Swing the sword at her. While dangling upside-down. In the middle of casual, if important, conversation.
  • Improvised Weapon: When he's not using Keindahan, he's using just about everything else due to his Semblance allowing this to actually work. Pool cues, nail guns, tree branches...
  • The Leader: Of Team SSMR, much to his disbelief.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: While fairly competent even when boisterously grinning, his threat levels shoot through the roof when he gets serious. Doubly so when he's using Keindahan at a time.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Sword slash rocket launcher.
  • Official Couple: With Lena. Notable for being the very first couple to form, even before Initiation. The fact that she has been crushing hard on him for a while now, it was only a matter of time.

    Sky Harper

Played by: Undying Phoenix

Associated Tropes:

  • Battle Boomerang: Dark Luna and Empty Sky have a boomerang form that Sky can throw.
  • Dash Attack: Sky's Semblance lets him pull this off.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: Both Dark Luna and Empty Sky can fire their blunt tips as grappling hooks.
  • Only Sane Man: In the crazy, hotblooded team of HAVC, Sky is much more reserved.
  • Power Incontinence: Downplayed. Sky is perfectly capable of using his Dash when he wants to, however, it reflexively activates in tense situations when he would really rather be somewhere else.
  • The Stoic: Sky is much less emotional than the rest of his teammates.
  • Retractable Weapon: The Dark Luna and Empty Sky can be retracted to form bracelets on Sky's forearms.
  • Tricked-Out Shoes: Wulfsbane is this. While being no better than ordinary shoes, it does hold Dust for use in Sky's Dash.
  • Videogame Dashing: Sky's Semblance, Dash, lets him do this across the ground. Using specific types of Dust also lets him dash in the air and along walls.

    James Croire

Played by: The Real Wren

A normal 19 year old youth, very little is known about the past of this human boy with only rumors of conflicting nature being the closest thing most would know. Some say he's from a family of nobles and wealth, sent to Beacon to show off his hidden talents...while others say the exact opposite and claim his family sent him to the Academy, wanting the best life for their son. Either way, his past and who he really is remains a mystery for now.

Associated Tropes:

  • Berserk Button: Acting like a 'superior upper class twit' is usually a sure fire way to get his ire. ...Also, mirrors, if a bit more subdued but still enough to make him lose his composure.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Oh so very much. He unknowingly attracts a number of female characters due to his cute mannerisms.
  • Determinator: His semblance in a nutshell. The problem is triggering it. Also doubles as a Super Mode.
  • Energy Weapon: Sort of. For the long-range attacks such as the pinwheels or 'Cannon Mode', the blade has an internal energy source that fires Pure Energy. It takes about a minute to recharge, leaving him vulnerable if the damage he deals isn't enough. Overclocking the generator increases on how much it'll hurt, but will cause the entire weapon to revert into Blade Mode for an even longer recharge and cool-down period.Or works around either of these factors and intentionally/subconsciously infuse Sunset with Aura to launch more attacks, although that...also has it's drawbacks.
  • Goggles Do Something Unusual: The question is what they do.
  • Hidden Eyes: Usually when his glasses and goggles are stolen. Speaking of which...see above.
  • Fearless Fool: The kid does not fear Grimm, idle death threats or painful medical checkups. People and getting close to them seems to terrify him, though.
  • Hates Being Touched: Oh, so very much. How he reacts tends to depend on who's getting too close.
  • Hidden Depths: For someone who's usually painfully shy and lacking in confidence, Croire tends to be rather insightful, surprisingly strong-willed and being a decent leader...and rather good at playing the piano. Not that anyone's aware of the last fact.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Has no idea what his semblance is, or how even use Aura. At least intentionally.
  • I Have Many Names: It's unsure if James is actually his real name since he answers to bot it and Croire. The question is whether either of them are accurate.
  • Jack of All Trades: Alright in a fight, really good at making sweets and being a decent cook in general AND intelligent enough to make his own weapon along with doing well in his studies sort of qualifies.
  • The Leader: Much to his shock and disbelief. ...And wondering what the heck Ozpin was thinking making the decision.
  • The Load: Constantly sees himself as this, thinking he'll be dead weight to whoever he's teamed up with.
  • Meaningful Name: The version numbers make it clear the weapon as a whole is still incomplete, while the actual name signifies James expecting the weapon or even himself to fade and vanish, like the setting sun.
  • Morph Weapon: Sunset is a Gearsword, full of complex mechanisms and gears that can cause the blade to compact or shift to a different mode. 'Blade Mode' being a simple Cool Sword that's usually the default, 'Cannon Mode' which makes the blade edges separate, with the central mechanism letting energy charge between the blades and fire as a focused blast or throw a pinwheel made of pure energy, or 'Chainsaw Mode', which is Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • Mysterious Past: Yep. Having nothing but conflicting rumors and no solid evidence of who he is or where he came from kind of qualifies. And he certainly isn't saying anything.
  • No Social Skills: Let's just say he's not exactly good around people. In the rather nervous, stuttering and shy sort of way. Most of the time.
  • Sweet Tooth: Most of the time, James/Croire is enjoying a piece of chocolate or candy, most of which he made himself.
  • Steampunk: The weapon is a cross of this Elegant Weapon for a More Civilized Age, full of gears and tiny levers to change forms, yet made of rather mysterious metals and being surprisingly functional.

    Dia Rayfer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/diarayfer_beacon.png
"I came here so I can protect myself. To make sure I don't feel helpless again."
(Image created by Anime Character Maker 2)
Played by: Ironcommando
Height: 1.75m

Born into a family of nobles, Dia was a cheerful girl who led a sheltered lifestyle, and was a frequent target of kidnappers. Her crystal-generating semblance manifested at an early age, and this made her sought after by various criminals. Throughout her life, many kidnappings had broke her. No longer was she the happy girl she used to be, but a rather cold natured teenager who chose to hide her feelings and trauma. Furthermore, it made her rather prideful and bossy towards close ones- in reality, she wants to hide the feeling of weakness/helplessness that she had.

However, these incidents also inspired Dia to become a Hunter- to protect herself, as well as to protect others from suffering her fate. After learning about what the hunters could do, as well as their awesome weapons, Dia got her parents' consent and money to get parts for her weapon made and to hire a Hunter to train her in private. Under his special training, she learned how to use her Semblance for combat purposes- the very same Semblance that got her kidnapped would now be used to protect her.

A few years later, Dia enrolled in Beacon Academy- to learn how to be a Hunter, to move out of her sheltered world, and to find friends/partners who can protect her. She may appear to be a polite lady on the outside, but on the inside... she has many insecurities about herself and others.

Associated Tropes:

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Dia can make her crystals extremely sharp, enough to cut through most Grimm armour.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Quite a number of her crystals are sharp and tough enough to pierce Grimm armor. The downside is that it costs her own Aura to use.
  • Beneath the Mask: To most, Dia presents herself as a polite and very stoic, calm individual who rarely shows strong emotion. Deep down, she's very insecure about herself, easily excited, and feels quite a good bit of emotional distress.
  • Berserk Button: Do not talk about kidnapping in front of her. She'll most likely get pissed towards the kidnap perpetrator and wish the perpetrator were dead. In extreme instances she may even try to kill the perpetrator herself.
  • Boom Stick: In Staff form, each end can fire out dust-based projectiles. Great for shooting spearheads into distant Grimm.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Tends to think that somebody among the students may be out to kidnap her. It's the reason why she's noting down everybody's Semblances and weapons- in the event that one does attempt to kidnap her, she would know how to get out of it.
  • Dark Secret: There's one secret of hers that Dia would never mention to anybody in Beacon*.
  • Determinator: Does not give up easily and can be rather stubborn. This can backfire on her and is a huge weakness, as she will not stop using her powers in battle even if her Aura gets dangerously low from Semblance overuse.
  • Double Knockout: In a duel against Iris. Dia manages to overpower Iris, but Iris manages to shoot a weakened Dia with her drone's lasers.
  • Double Weapon: Or one on each end.
  • Emerald Power: While Dia's crystals aren't exactly emeralds, they do appear as green crystals.
  • Expy: She's named after Calia's child from Diamond Phase, but her personality is that of Calia.
  • Fantastic Arousal: Rubbing her crystals in a certain way can cause her to get aroused, due to the ability to sense any touch on her crystals.
  • Foil:
    • To Iris: Both of them have suffered emotional trauma (Iris via bullying, Dia via kidnapping), but reacted differently (Iris became shy and timid, while Dia hides her true feelings). Iris tends to conserve her Aura in battle, while Dia tends to spend hers very often. Both do different forms of art- Iris makes music, while Dia creates crystal sculptures. Iris relies on technology (as seen via 343 Techno Beat), Dia relies on magic Semblance use. Finally, Iris is very compassionate for life and would even spare a villain, Dia on the other hand believes in killing human villains as messily as Grimm.
    • To Gage: One's a rowdy delinquent who's Book Dumb but with street smarts, the other's a polite and somewhat uptight noble who's intelligent in sciences/math but Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense. When one relies on technology, the other relies on Semblance use.
  • Gemstone Assault: Dia's Semblance, Crystal Clear. It generates crystals from her own Aura, and she can use them for a huge variety of purposes.
  • Gilded Cage: Has been living a very shut-in life thanks to her parents' concern for her safety. Due to this, she's not very familiar about the outside world.
  • Heroic RRoD: Is very prone to this, as she tends to use her power (which is cast from her Aura) very often, causing her Aura levels to drop dangerously low.
  • Hidden Buxom: Beneath her shirt, she actually has one of the largest breast sizes of the current student cast.
  • Imagination-Based Superpower: Dia can shape her crystals in whatever form she wants them. There are limitations though- at full Aura, she can only create 0.5 cubic meters of crystal before she is drained. Furthermore, she tends to rely too much on it.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Her favoured method of lethal force, by sticking them through with a huge crystal. It also gives her a turn-on.
  • Inner Monologue: Does this very often. It's to show that she hides her true feelings from others, and how different her actual feelings are compared to what she says.
  • Lady of War: She attacks and dodges with elegance and grace.
  • Lethal Chef: She absolutely sucks at cooking.
  • Magic Versus Science: Her parents, despite having the money to buy high technology, wanted Dia to continue the crystal-creation and manipulation ability of her bloodline as they believe it to be more unique and useful. As such, she's very trained in using her Semblance.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • The first three letters of Diamond. Also ties in with her crystal generating ability.
    • A Corona is an Aura around the sun that becomes prominent during a solar eclipse. Not only does Corona resemble a ring of metal pieces, it also works in tandem with Dia's Aura, and it also represents how Dia hides her feelings like an eclipse of the sun.
  • Mind over Matter: A limited version. She can move around any crystals created by her for no Aura cost, unless she has to use her crystals to move objects that aren't her crystals (e.g. herself, or Corona's Chakram form), in which case the amount of Aura to do so needed increases depending on the mass of the object moved. This allows her to do a variety of tricks, like allowing her weapon to home in on enemies, use floating crystals to guard, or even do a super jump via moving the crystals on her boots and legs. Furthermore, she needs some extent of concentration to do this, and cannot control too many at one go.
  • Mundane Utility: She can create crystal objects such as utensils, bowls, etc. Almost all of which are temporary, however. Becomes a full-fledged Huntress after graduation... and also runs part of the family business, selling her crystal blades and parts for Hunter weaponry.
  • Non-Idle Rich: She's training to be a Huntress despite being a noble.
  • Not So Stoic: When she's worried about going to the Aquarium of Vale. Her speech and fiddling about give away her worry.
  • Odd Couple: She's paired with Merrick Gage. One's a prim and proper noblewoman who is Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense, the other's a delinquent who knows the ways of the street.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: Justified as Dia can place her own crystals on it, then manipulate the movement of said crystals.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Dia is excellent in Math, Physics, and spatial recognition. It's how she's able to create crystals in the forms she wants to create them in, as well as move them about.
  • Rich Bitch: To an extent. While she is kind towards strangers, she tends to become colder, prideful and bossy towards those she knows by exerting her status as a noble, as she is afraid that they'll see her as weak, hence putting up a front to hide it.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Thanks to having lived a shut-in noble life, she struggles to do certain things that commoners would be good at. Like cooking, bargaining, evacuation tactics for example.
  • Rings of Death: The Chakram form. While blunt edged, Dia provides crystal blades to give it a cutting edge.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: The Gun form. It can fire Dust projectiles as well as crystal bullets for an Armor-Piercing Attack.
  • Slasher Smile: She sports one when she's going about killing Grimm... or evildoer humans.
  • Slave to PR: Dia is very particular about how the others see her. She does not want others to see her as weak.
  • Smiting Evil Feels Good: She was taught by her mentor that humans who do evil for selfish purposes are no better than Grimm, and that they should be killed just like Grimm. Preferably via impalement. As such, she has no qualms against using lethal force against evildoing humans/Faunus (and even encourages so).
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: As par the course for a RWBY-series character.
  • Squishy Wizard: Due to many of her crystal attacks/movements being Cast from Aura, she tends to be less able to afford getting hit. However, her crystals are very powerful. As such, she needs to learn how to regulate use of her Aura when facing Grimm.
  • The Stoic: Rarely shows much emotion.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: One of the more worrisome parts of her behaviour is that she flat-out screws this rule, saying that evil humans are no better than Grimm, and therefore are fair game to kill. She even encourages the killing of villains.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's afraid of Fathoms, a certain species of Grimm that resemble stingrays. One even appears in her nightmares. She's afraid of it due to a childhood incident- she was kidnapped and held hostage on a boat that was outside the city... when the Grimm came in and slaughtered her kidnappers before it went for her. Thankfully, she was saved by Serion, her would-be trainer.

    Cerise Chester

Played by: opnerf

A less-than-reputable trickster.

Associated Tropes:

    Merrick Gage

Played by: KR_Vandal

An 18-year old delinquent from downtown Vale. In a moment of poor impulse control, he stole an SDC truck and took it for a joyride. However, his fun turned into tragedy when it tipped over in a turn and got a Good Samaritan hospitalized.

That do-gooder also happened to be the test pilot of a government program that would revolutionize Hunter performance. Suffice to say, they weren't happy.

So they approached Gage with a choice; take the weapon and the candidate's place in Beacon or they would press charges and Merrick Gage would never see the light of day as a free man for a long time.

Not much of a choice, but he always was a believer in karma. A week or so later would see him on an Airbus to Beacon and his new calling. Whether or not he'd make the grade? Well, that's all on him.

Associated Tropes:

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: A practitioner of Muay Vacu, Gage is a fairly rough-and-tumble combatant.
  • Berserk Button: Do not insult his bike. Or his momma.
  • Determinator: Gage refused to back down in the face of a superior foe in Isabelle.
  • Confusion Fu: Combined with his Semblance mentioned below, this appears to be a solid part of Gage's fighting style.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: The suit greatly improves Gage's already superb hand-to-hand prowess, speed, and endurance.
  • Evolving Weapon: It's based off Kamen Rider armor, so that's part and parcel.]]
  • Glowing Eyes: A telltale sign of Gage using his Aura while suited up.
  • Hammerspace: Got a better reason why Gage can pull the Crown Driver out anytime he wants to?
  • Henshin Hero: His weapon is a Shout-Out to the Kamen Rider series, particularly the more recent ones, while his personality (not to mention his look) can best be described as a more thuggish version of certain shonen heroes, like Gentaro Kisaragi or Sekai Kamiki. Though he might be something of a subversion as he likes fighting just as much as eating. Also, the shadowy body in charge of the Chained King Project do have the best interests of humanity at heart.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: From his rocky first impression to James right up to praising him for his cooking to bucking up a frustrated Dia and lastly carrying an unconscious Fe on his back.
  • Kleptomaniac Hero: The bane of vending machines.
  • Last-Name Basis: How he prefers to be called.
  • No Such Agency: The body behind the Chained King is very much this.
  • Recruiting the Criminal: The reason Gage is in Beacon. Though his degree of expertise may be in question, he was persuaded to join up because of his moral fiber.
  • Transformation Trinket: Gage's Scroll and the Crown Driver.
  • Tron Lines: In red, yellow, and green!

Team COGS

     Chelsea Violet

Played By: Grim Helm
Height: 5'

The leader of Team COGS. A dark-haired young lady with violet eyes, a short stature and cat ears. Chelsea is a cat Faunus adopted by the noble Violet family after her birth parents (who were vassals to the Violets) died when she was only a toddler. She wants to be a Huntress to uphold her adopted family's ideals of Faunus equality. She has yet to learn that her naive idealism alone will not bring any lasting change to Remnant...

She loves weapons, often acting excitedly in the presence of "cool" ones. She is obsessed with proper politeness and will often berate Seth on his rudeness. Her partner is Gaston.

Associated Tropes:

     Gaston Scarlett

Played by: Grim Helm

Associated Tropes:

The High Nobility of Vale

The Nobel Family

     In General

Friends of the late Ashens, Aurelius and Regina Nobel are the leaders of the Gold Dust Company, the largest subsidiary to the Schnee Dust Company. Along with the orphan of their friends, Regina also chose to adopt her nephew Gregory while Aurelius came across the pair that is Innocent and Sarah. The whole family has been living together since the children were all seven, and they've been pretty happy since. All four of the Nobel adoptees can be found in their own particular teams.

Associated Tropes:

  • Badass Family: The children are training to be Hunters, and the parents are capably cunning businessmen who aren't incapable of defending themselves.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: While they're more merchant nobility, they're nobility all the same in Vale, and all four of their adopted children are pursuing lives as Hunters.

The Weapon Girls

    In General

  • Heel–Face Turn: After the conclusion of Operation Moonfall, the three girls join the students of Beacon.

    Alice Goldflame (Alpha-One)

Faceclaim: Touko Aozaki

First seen during the attack at the Lover's Day festival. She appears to be the most mature of the group. Her ability appears to be telekinesis. Attacks NAMI in the New Weapon plot.

  • Mama Bear: Hurt the other girls — especially Beth — and you get force-choked by her. Lucas learned that the hard way...
  • The Three Faces of Eve: Most closely matches the wife aspect, seeing as she's the closest to a mother figure the girls have.

    Beth Silvertongue (Beta-Two)/Beth Jade
First seen during the attack at the Lover's Day festival. She appears to be the youngest of the girls. Attacks team JWCK during the New Weapon plot. She was later taken in and adopted by Francesca Jade.

    Carol Bronzearm (Gamma-Three)
First seen in the attack at the Noble Meeting. Her ability is to copy anyone's Semblances and Weapons. Attacks team DRKR. She has a strange fixation on Lucas...
  • Power Copying: Her ability to copy other people's Semblances.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Carol never fights with any malice. She just fights because she's told to,
  • Yandere: Downplayed. While Carol for the most part acts like a well-adjusted individual, whenever Lucas enters the equation, she can get a bit obsessive:
Carol: (When asked who she thought the heartthrob of Beacon was) It's definitely my Lucas. But go near him and I'll rip your arms off.

Creatures of Grimm

Note: Do not add Grimm that have already been seen in canon RWBY. Add sheets for original Grimm only from the roleplay, specifically ones that have appeared or have been mentioned in the RP proper, as that implies their actual existence beyond the discussion page.

    Mizukage

An amphibious Grimm based off of Otachi from Pacific Rim. It becomes the Dual Boss of Initiation for Team ARBI along with the Morder.

    Morder

A crocodilian Grimm based off of Raiju from Pacific Rim. It becomes the Dual Boss of Initiation for Team ARBI along with the Mizukage.

  • Expy: Basically Raiju from Pacific Rim with the Grimm color scheme added onto it.
  • Meaningful Name: Morder is a Spanish verb meaning "to bite." Its main form of attack consists of little more that charging out of the water at high speed and biting with its Nested Mouths.
  • Oh, Crap!: Has this reaction to Kurira's awakening.

    Arachnophobia

A giant spider-like Grimm. It becomes the final enemy of Initiation for Team SYNR.

  • Meaningful Name: Arachnophobia means "fear of spiders."
  • Rasputinian Death: Get shot at, stabbed and cut, and throw into a ravine before finally dying by Rufus' blade.

    Albahlok

A dragon-like Grimm based off of the Dov. It attacks Lucas and Jack, and becomes the final enemy of Initiation for Team SLCR.

    Kaijin

A 30-foot-tall Grimm based off the Armored Titan. It attacks Urujauni and Pius, and becomes the final enemy of Initiation for Team JUMP.

    Kurira

A massive Grimm based off of Godzilla. He was defeated and thought dead by ancient Hunters long ago, but was actually sleeping under the temple where the Initiates retrieved their relics and fought for their lives. Due to the chaos caused by the Initiate's victory against the Grimm there, Kurira's slumber was disturbed and he woke up. He is the Hopeless Boss Fight for the characters at Initiation, and the only option against him is to Run or Die.

  • Advancing Boss of Doom: When Kurira moves, the characters have to move away or get crushed.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: Kurira towers over the other Grimm in the roleplay, and he is vastly more powerful.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Kurira is the largest Grimm encountered in the roleplay by far.
  • Bad Vibrations: How his presence first manifested before emerging from the lake.
  • Breath Weapon: It's basically a Wave-Motion Gun that Kurira can shoot from his mouth.
  • The Dreaded: Everyone, even Glynda Goodwitch and Headmaster Ozpin, is afraid of this Grimm, and for good reason.
  • Covered in Scars: From its battles with mankind long ago.
  • He Was Right There All Along: Under the bottom of the lake, just laying there sleeping, until a bunch of initiates caused too much of a ruckus over it...
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Perfectly willing to eat other Grimm to rejuvenate itself after awakening. He ate the Morder as the first thing he did when he emerged from the water.
  • The Juggernaut: Nothing stops Kurira. Even concentrated effort by the initiates only seems to annoy him long enough to fire his thermo-breath at them.
  • Kaiju: Fittingly, it is as comparably large as Godzilla.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Before he appeared, the roleplay activity up until then was a battle royale between the initiates and the Grimm that the initiates were going to win. Then he shows up, and ending Initiation becomes a matter of the initiates running for their lives against a living force that they can barely even scratch, let alone harm. Kurira reminds the characters that the struggle against the Grimm is a war that cannot always be won with battle, but with simply surviving until the next day.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Until the initiates woke him up.
    In General

An underground scientific organization led by Francisco Steiner. Its goal was to create a Living Weapon that would destroy the Grimm, no matter the ethical cost. Oh, and Steiner also intended to conquer the world with an army of Super Soldiers that he created by experimenting on children.

Associated Tropes

    Jefferson Patrick Etton

Steiner's meek assistant. He went into hiding with Steiner after they were fired from Schnee Dust, and he was in charge of taking care of the Weapon Girls.

    Omega

A mysterious figure associated with Luna. He attacked Alice on Umbra 3, and his whereabouts are unknown.

  • There Is Another: His existence proved that Luna had more than four Super Soldiers in its arsenal.
  • The Worf Effect: Inflicts this on Alice. The terror in Omega comes from the fact that he managed to seriously injure Alice, a character with Mind over Matter powers who is seen by the other characters as almost untouchable.

Olympos Corporation

    In General

One of the biggest corporations of the Kingdom of Mistral, which rose to the top of the business world due to the sheer tenacity of its founder. Olympos Corp is a constant figure in the roleplay, and the mysteries surrounding it make up a big part of the plot for Year One.

Associated Tropes

    Maximilian "Max" Alexandros

The CEO of Olympos Corp. A proud, aggressive man of business, he is being investigated by the students of Dorm Rose for funding Luna.

  • Abusive Parents: Handed over his daughter Miala to Steiner to be experimented on, resulting in her becoming an Empty Shell and her death when Luna's base was destroyed.
  • Archnemesis Dad: So despicable that his daughter Miala wants to kill him from beyond the grave.

     Team KNGT

Arcana

When adding folders of Arcana members, please list them in numerical order.

     In General
A terrorist group of 22 individuals themed after the Major Arcana tarot cards. Led by The World, they seek to remove the weak and unfit to ensure Remnant's survival, and purge the "corruption" from the society. They were first seen attacking The Golden on Umbra 6th, though they have also performed operations seen in Beacon-2 that are still canon and referenced in in the Ultimate Server.

A full list of the group and the players controlling its members can be found here.

Associated Tropes:

  • Evil Versus Evil: They have clashed with Luna when both organizations tried to kidnap Princess Alexia for their own reasons.
  • Tarot Motifs: Every single member is designated as one of the 22 Major Arcana cards, and is themed to match.

    V: Hierophant

Played by: Taco
A disillusioned soldier of fortune, Icarus Kane joined Arcana in the hopes of spreading a solid message with a group that really had it together. Sports a massive hammer and a bigger ego that hides a sharp intellect.

Associated Tropes

  • Odd Friendship: With Tower, who he sees as accomplished in ways he couldn't be.
  • Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Blitzes Pius with complicated diction as soon as he tries to figure out what he's recruiting him for.
  • Token Good Teammate: Doesn't care about the Arcana cause as much, and his position as Hierophant inherently marks him as a force of control and moderation.

Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

  • Nail Gun: Combines this with a hammer to deliver a piercing aftertaste to his attacks.
  • Shout-Out: Named after the Kanye album of the same name.

    VI: Lovers

Played by Eventua, then GrimHelm and Insano

A young warrior from the land outside of Vacuo, sent by her father as a symbol of their people's strength, on a quest to become 'the best huntress in the world'. She's skilled and experienced, having trained since her early years, but is extremely arrogant and appears to have been woefully misinformed - among other things, she wasn't told there would be partnerships or teams.

On Lover's Day, after having only been a student for one week, she leaves after being confronted over her behavior. Now she is Lovers of Arcana, for reasons yet unexplained.

Formerly partnered with Pius Ashen-Nobel, and originally the second in command to team JUMP.

Associated Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Happens a lot due to the fact that most people can't pronounce her name, up to and including many members of staff. This applies out of universe, too, even though her name is just spelled out.
  • Achilles in His Tent: After one too many moments of feeling unwanted, useless, or surrounded by people who are stifling her potential she decides to just... go. She doesn't say another word, and leaves.
  • Affectionate Nickname: U-Money, originally used out of universe by the GM before being adopted in universe by Ayers, who uses it so much that. Ultimately inverted in-universe, in that the only students where there's something resembling a two-way friendship with her don't use a nickname, and instead just call her Urujauni, or occasionally Uru.
  • Badass Boast: Seems to be fond of making these. Unfortunately for her, they have a tendency to get ignored and/or be followed by her failing miserably.
  • Badass in Distress: Has happened a couple of times, just in Initiation. Hopefully, it's just temporary until she learns to work with her team.
  • Cast from Hit Points: While a person using their Semblance can physically and mentally wear out a person, Urujauni's extreme reliance on her Semblance means that she frequently pushes herself to the breaking point in order to achieve victory.
  • Colour-Coded Characters: Purple
  • Walking Out on the Show: She believes she is doing this when she leaves Beacon and Vale.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me
  • Shield Surf: Done at least once, though it didn't work very well.

    XII: Hanged Man
Played by: Eachiunn

Associated Tropes

  • Arm Cannon: Johnny lost his arm, so being the explosive-happy bastard he is, he built a cannon into his prosthetic.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Though he may seem like a fun (albeit, a bit of a jackass) fella on the outside, Johnny's still a cold-blooded killer who loves nothing more than to slaughter entire crews belonging to factions he despises before stealing anything not nailed down.

    XIV: Temperance
Played by: Aquatica 1000

Associated Tropes

    XVII: Star

Played by: Fergard Stratoavis

Associated Tropes

  • Ax-Crazy: Enjoys his explosives a little too much...
  • Beware the Silly Ones: His first appearance made him more into annoying bomb-lobber with lots of giggling fits, soundly outmatched by Devil's work. Cue Umbra 13.
  • Faux Affably Evil: An incredibly cheery, optimistic and downright monstrous individual.
  • Long-Range Fighter: His close-combat abilities are questionable at best despite the sturdy armor, but anywhere else he's a death on legs that gives grenades like candy.
  • Obfuscating Insanity: But he is still a lot saner than he lets on, able to formulate relatively decent ideas and make battle plans on a whim.
  • Torture Technician: Shares the dubious position with Magician. Apparently it's not something that World knows about.

    XX: Judgment

Played by: D4C

Associated Tropes

  • Knight of Cerebus: Her first appearance to the students is when she seemingly kills Feb on Crystallum 21, making the victory of rescuing Carol seem more bittersweet.

    XXI: World

Played by: GrimHelm
[[ Character Sheet]]

Associated Tropes

  • Knight of Cerebus: While he had been known to the players for a while, it is when he arrives at the Jade Estates that the story takes a turn for the worse — stopping Francesca, mauling four of the students, and abducting Carol. Many of the characters are left traumatized.

     The Entity

A mysterious cosmic being that destroyed the previous worlds of Remnant and recreated them into the world of Beacon Ultimate. It is unknown what exactly The Entity is. Its true name is Candor, and it calls itself the Ultimate One, the Will of Remnant.

  • Reality Warper: Can make changes to the reality of the RP, even as the characters go about their day. For example, it replaced Damian Bellamy with Hope Remington as Ayers' partner the whole time, and no one even noticed.

     Domlexia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aee9485e82509e969289c83cb546eedc.jpg
The Queen has arrived.
Played by: Grim Helm
Faceclaim: Saber Alter

Whenever Alexia gets drunk, even a little bit, a strange psuedo-split personality emerges. That would be Domlexia, a crass, foulmouthed and very forward dominatrix whose presence almost always leads to shenanigans.

Associated Tropes:

  • Ascended Extra: Started off as a one-shot joke. Has since become a running gag, due to popularity with players.
  • The Dreaded: Played for laughs. Hope and Alfred are terrfied of her.
  • Epic Fail: During the volleyball match, Domlexia repeatedly hit innocent bystanders when trying to serve, up to and including herself. And Stormer. Three times.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Even as Domlexia, Alexia still cares very deeply for her friends. She was also angered when Jack insulted Ieria.
  • Large Ham: Noticeable because Alexia is usually a Shrinking Violet.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Has the record for greatest libido in the game, in stark contrast to the prudish Lexi.

Former Members

    Damian Bellamy

Played by: Lectro Underground

Associated Tropes:

  • Ret-Gone: Replaced by Hope through the powers of The Entity, with no one the wiser.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Was barely seen in the RP before he disappeared.

    Cara Flavia

Played by: A Zealous Individual

Associated Tropes:

  • Ret-Gone: Replaced by Silvia thanks to the reality warping powers of The Entity.

    Dolores Gray

Played by: Underwood

Associated Tropes:

    Cyanea Sullivan

Played by: bloodplum
Height: 5'3"

A newer member of the team, Cyanea is kind of like an outsider. She has settled a bit into the routine, but that doesn't stop her from speaking her mind about some of the absurdities (at least to her) of some of the team dynamics and worries.

Associated Tropes:

  • Her semblance, Traction, is almost an entirely passive ability and can't do direct combat damage it however allows her several passive abilities that include.
  • Boring, but Practical: Her weapon is an AK-47.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Cyanea doesn't shy away from this in any circumstances, whenever she can, she cheats, hard. She knows her build and semblance isn't designed for doing large amounts of damage so she will manufacture advantages any way she can. As some have found out, this makes her very annoying to spar.
  • Competition Freak: She adores competition even over little things, and she always takes it seriously. Though a little adverted because she takes losing as just another challenge to do better next time.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: She has five brothers and one sisters and most of them are hunters/huntresses.
  • More Dakka: While most other characters focus on accuracy and finesse based fighting style, Cyanea when fighting at range will just spray as many bullets as possible in the area the enemy was last.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Played with, Cyanea needs glasses (she's near-sighted), but she wears contacts in combat and at school, but glasses when she's relaxing or not expecting to fight.

    Rufus Snikersnax

Played by: God Of Awesome

Associated Tropes:

  • The Comically Serious: He is very serious and sometimes there is an attempt to play this for comedy.
  • Cool Sword: Sanguis Aspernor's sword form, called Sanguis, when the "sheath" is attached to the hilt, uses rejection crystals to turn the faux-sheathe into a blade the actively pulls things apart. It takes the form of a bastard sword.
  • Gratuitous Latin: Sanguis Aspernor translates to "Blood Rejection" or "Blood Loathe". The first translation references the rejection crystal incorporated into it. The second rhymes with "blood oath" referencing the one Rufus's clan made against the Jabberwocky. It's a bilingual pun that only Rufus finds to be clever or funny.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: The shield form, often referred to as Aspernor, use rejection crystal to actively push away attack. It takes the form of a kite shield.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Nearly so. His smiles are slight and blink and you'll miss them. Changes in his expression are often described as changes in the degree by which he is grimacing and how he is grimacing.
  • Retractable Weapon: When the "sheath" that is the true form of Sanguis Aspernor is detached, The Vorpal Sword reveals itself. The blade is kept hidden inside it Bag of Holding-esque hilt and may detract to ridiculous lengths. This blade is not as good as Sanguis at cutting but gets the job done and can do it at a distance.
  • The Un-Smile: His laughter, which he will still frown for, is compared to coughing. It comes through his nose and sounds like he's choking on something. He indulges in it, though, much to the concern of others.

    Charisse Scyllata
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charisse_portrait_2968.png
"I'll kick anyone's ass. I'll kick your ass. I'll kick your dog's ass. I'll kick my own ass."
Played by: amporiusrex
Height: 6'

Associated Tropes:

  • Ancestral Weapon: Charisse's Saturnus and Kronus were originally her grandmother's weapons.
  • Berserk Button: Any sort of slandering of her immediate family members will make her lose all reason. This especially works for her grandmother, who died trying to protect her.
  • Bifurcated Weapon : Her weapons, a pair of sickles, can combine to form a Bident (Orcus) or Bow (Apollo)
  • Calling Your Attacks: Charisse frequently uses this trope. She invents and names techniques, believing that giving them names makes them stronger.
    • Mistrali Sandstorm - An attack where Charisse collects wind into a compact whirlwind around her arm, before releasing it in front of her as a tornado localized around her arm. Before she "refined" this move, it would cause intense harm to her arm due to wind speeds and friction. The refined version does not cause self-harm, but is weaker and consumes a bit more Aura.
    • Spiral Breaker - Charisse imbues her sickles in the Orcus state (a Bident) with her Semblance, causing it to spin at high speeds. This functions as a self-powered drill that will only stop spinning once the Aura she has put into it runs out.
    • Rey King Hellblender (Gaiden) - Rey King II (Charisse, BWE Smackdown Gaiden) imbues herself with her aura, causing her body to spin around an enemy in order to collect enough inertia to violently and bodily throw her enemy into something else.
  • Enhanced Archaic Weapon : It's a pair of sickles, a pretty ancient weapon, that have been infused with technology.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Charisse does not believe in this for a single second. If she thinks someone is evil, she will not try to "put them in jail" or to make them "pay for their crimes in front of a jury". She will try to kill them. This contrasts extremely with the views of most of her schoolmates.
