Current Members
Sydney
Sydney is one of the six founding members of Watch Girls Play. She is the only one of the founders to be part of the channel since its start, and is the oldest member of the channel, being born in 1988. She made her first appearance in Slender: The Arrival (Part One). Her name is usually shortened to "Syd" and is given the nickname "Mama Bear" or "Mama Syd" for her caring, maternal personality. She is Skyler's older sister.Sydney is cheerful and caring, being the most level headed girl of the entire group and is considered to be the leader by some. She is one of the more vocal of the group, though her commentaries are considerably tamer than the others, rarely ever cursing in her videos. She often wears bows on her head, of which she has many and fans tend to send her new bows to wear.
Gaming wise, she is one of the stronger players in the group, rarely ever raging, getting jumped or reacting in horror games. She has mentioned that she is waiting for a game to truly scare her, which Night Blights eventually did. When raging, she usually stays quiet or facepalms herself in disappointment.
She has two weaknesses; gore and children getting hurt. Her reactions to both of these are shown very prominently in Happy Wheels, Among the Sleep, and especially the 34th React video
. In co-ops, she is usually paired with Mariya, though she does get paired with everyone else in livestreams. She currently has one solo play, A Game Of Thrones, which is rarely uploaded.
- The Comically Serious: Is often laconic and calm in situations that make the other girls scream. Best displayed in the playthrough of Five Nights at Freddy's-she barely blinks at the deadly Jump Scare. But occasionally....
- Nice Girl: Very much, they call her "Mama Syd" for a reason.
- Not So Stoic: In the first Sister Location video, due to her anticipation over the game's release. She smiles, bounces, and talks with all the grace of a machine gun about how excited she is.
Maddie made her first channel appearance in the 15th AFK video on October 28th, 2015, replacing Molly on the channel. She was first seen on a livestream with the other girls. She is also an amateur make up artist that did the girls' make up for their Halloween video. She made her first gaming appearance in the sixth part of Five Nights at Freddy's 4 and is the youngest member of the channel. She was introduced to the channel by Mariya. Of the current girls, she has never been referred to by her full name (Madison) and is a vegetarian.
Maddie has a fiery and playful personality, and is one of the more vocal of the group. When she was starting out, she was very shy and would get intimidated by the camera. Her addition was considered to bring in some youth and off beat pop culture to the channel. While her commentary is usually kept at a minimum, her facial expressions and body language generally speaks for themselves.
She rages very easily in rage games, cursing and mocking the in games character, eventually growing a hatred for the in game character. She doesn't do too well with horror games and is terrified of them, to the point that she had to take a break from them. Despite this, she loves playing them. She can also sing, which is shown in some videos. She also, adorably, chair dances in her videos.
Eight months after Sydney hinted at it (in the studio reveal video), Maddie finally got her first solo play - Batman by Telltale Games - and does not have a "go to" pairing for co-op games, though she is usually paired with Mariya in livestreams.
Alicia made her first channel appearance in the 39th React video on November 16th, 2016. She was first seen on the 24 hour livestream on September 30, 2016. She is usually referred to by her nickname "Liv". She made her first gaming appearance in Boogeyman 2 and was introduced to the channel by Mars, whom she replaced. She took over the solo play for The Walking Dead by Telltale Games after Andrea left.
Former Members
Mariya is one of the six founding members of Watch Girls Play, and was one of two members to have made Watch Girls Play their full time job (Sydney being the other). She also helped in editing the videos, along with the editor they've had from the beginning. She made her first appearance in Inside. Her name is usually shortened to "Riya" and her nickname is "Princess". She is Kaylee's older sister.
Mariya started off as shy and reserved, being the more quieter one in group videos. With the help of a confidence boost, she has grown to become one of the more feisty and vocal of the group, with her personality shifting between being the most quirky of the girls to the most serious of the girls. She is mostly calm and composed, often cracking jokes and having a good time.
Regarding gameplay, she started of as a non-gamer and had troubles completing the harder challenges games had to offer, this lead to her quitting Outlast and Kraven Manor - though she would eventually finish Outlast two years after its initial completion. She is also quite jumpy, especially in the early videos, where all she wants to do is hide from enemies.
In recent videos, she has shown to have become braver and rarely jumps at any jumpscares, though she still has her moments. In rage games, she rages easily and will whip up a storm of cusses if she has to. In co-ops, she was usually paired up with Renae until her departure. Since then, she is usually paired up with either Sydney or Maddie (in livestreams for the latter).
She currently has a solo play, The Sims 4, which doesn't get uploaded regularly. She has another solo play, The Wolf Among Us, which was played simultaneously with Renae, Drea, and Kenzie.
Outside of Watch Girls Play, she is one of several members that is married and is currently living in California with her husband. Before she left, Mariya flew over to Oregon for a week or so each month to film videos.
Renae is one of the six founders of the channel, and is the only former member to return to the core group (Kaylee returned as a guest). She made her first appearance in Inside. She is Rashae's twin sister. Renae was also the quickest to make 50, 100, 150, and 200 video appearances. Her name is usually shortened to "Nae".
Renae's was originally not part of the group that conceived the idea of the channel. Instead, it was Rashae that was meant to be part of the original squad. However, Rashae got engaged and moved interstate with her husband. Renae, who had started to work at the job the other girls were working at, was quickly invited into the group. Her twin sister eventually returned to the group in late 2013, but only for a limited time.
Renae is bubbly and cheerful, and has a great sense of humor. She is one of the more level headed girls when it comes to horror or rage games and her commentary borderlines the explicit territory - though nowhere near as vulgar as Drea or Mars. She would often make snarky comments towards the in game characters and is one of the more vocal of the group, and is one of the more talkative.
She stated in her very first video that she is not a fan of horror games, and it shows. She would normally be very afraid and whimper when heading into the unknown. She gets jumped very easily, sometimes to the point of frustration, but will brave through the terrors and complete a game, beating Night Six of Five Nights at Freddy's and its sequel.
She had two solo plays, Life Is Strange and The Wolf Among Us, the former still on-going and the latter being played simultaneously with Mariya, Drea, and Kenzie. In co-ops, she was usually paired with Mariya, the pair seemingly being inseparable, always appearing in outros together. She is also paired with Drea, whom she has been friends with for over a decade.
She left in May 2015, the channel citing school and other life obligations being the main reason for her departure. Almost a full year later, she returned on a May 19, 2016 livestream, much to the fanbase's excitement. She began appearing in new videos before the channel officially marked her return on August 5th, 2016. She then departed a second time at the very start of 2018.
- The Bus Came Back: So far she is the only member of the group to leave and then return as a full-time member.
- The Cutie: Sweet, pretty, dislikes horror games(and is made to play them often because of this).
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Well, hair of dirty blonde, anyway.
- Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: In the first Sister Location video. She even has bright red lips to go with it, evoking a Perky Goth look unlike her usual girl-next-door style.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Probably the screamiest of the girls.
Andrea was one of the first replacement members, replacing Kaylee in August 2013 and leaving in late 2017. She made her first appearance in Curse Of The Aztecs. Her name is usually shortened to "Drea" and she is almost always referred to by this name. She is also nicknamed "The Mistress". She is Mary's step sister and Mars's second cousin. She was introduced to the channel by Renae and has made the most video appearances out of all the girls.
Andrea is normally bubbly and fun, but she has a short fuse and very thin skin, easily getting aggressive at a game that pushes her to her limits, or panicking very quickly at scary games. Her commentary is regarded as the most explicit of the group, with her perverse sense of humour ranging all over the black and blue. She is quick witted and can inject the right amount of humour into her footage, though her commentary was considered uncontrollable in the early days.
In gaming, she is very competitive, always aiming to win and will declare herself a winner in a losing game. She has the tendency to scream at any jumpscare, even those that she has already seen or at anything that aren't meant to be jumpscares. When she gets aggressive, she is known to have abused the equipment, even breaking a keyboard in their QWOP playthrough - leading to the "Glitch Queen" nickname from the fanbase. She was later told to be careful with the equipment.
She has a dislike for many things, namely: children, dirty water, bugs, chocolate, milk, and cute things in general. Though she does open up at points, for example, she simply adores Clementine from The Walking Dead. She also has an undying love for chickens, which is painfully shown in their Chikku playthrough. She also dyes her hair on occasions, her hair being blue in her original appearance. For almost a year, she had her natural brown hair due to her job, but she has since gone back to dying her hair in various colors. She also wears wigs and has mentioned that she wants her hair to permanently be blue.
In co-ops, she is usually paired with Kenzie, the pair being a fan favorite. She also pairs up with Renae, Mars, and Stephanie. She has two solo plays, The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, the latter being played simultaneously with Mariya, Renae, and Kenzie.
- Known Only by Their Nickname
- Miles Gloriosus: By far the most likely to boast and swear at the screen while playing horror games. Also the most likely to give a Girly Scream when confronted by the monster.
- Walking Tech Bane: Drea has a tendency to cause glitches in games to occur and to break her equipment. She's been nicknamed Glitch Queen for it.
Mackenzie made her first appearance in Bewilder House and came in to replace Amber in November 2013, and remained until early 2018. Her name is usually shortened to "Kenzie" or "Kenz", with her nickname being "Milady", though it's not used very often. She is Alexa's younger sister and was introduced to the channel by Andrea. She had made the second most video appearances out of the girls, behind Andrea.
Kenzie has a bubbly personality, and is one of the more vocal and level headed of the girls. Her personality fits seamlessly into the group, and is very friendly towards the others and the fans. She often tends to sing in her videos and have conversations with her "other" self, which she usually depicts as the logical and sane part of her personality.
In games, she is optimistic and rarely gets mad at a game. When she does get mad, she tends to cuss and insult the in game characters, usually threatening them in grotesque ways. Other times, she would simply sigh. In horror games, she doesn't get jumped too often, but she has her moments, and her level headed-ness helps her beat the tougher challenges in games. It can be said that Kenzie's gameplay is the most well-rounded in the group, providing a contrast between the calm girls (such as Sydney), the sweary girls (like Mariya), and the jumpy girls (such as Maddie).
In co-ops, she was usually paired with Andrea, the pair being a fan favorite. She also paired up with Mars and Stephanie. She had also done the most solo plays with three, the solo plays being The Stanley Parable, Tales From The Borderlands, and The Wolf Among Us. The latter solo play was played simultaneously with Mariya, Renae, and Andrea.
- '80s Hair: Fans and the other girls tend to call it Kenzie hair.
- Borrowed Catch Phrase: "Suck it, Trebek!" Used most of often on live streams.
- Distracted by the Sexy: Kenzie is prone to stop and ogle a hot girl in a game.
- Statuesque Stunner: Kenzie appears to be the tallest of the girls in any group picture. Her exact height is unknown, however.
Mars made her first appearance in the fourth episode of Woman Crush Wednesday (F*ck, Marry, Kill) and replaced Renae on the channel in May 2015, and stayed on until the 16th of May, 2017. Her full name (Mariah) clashes with Mariya's, so her name was shortened to avoid confusion. She is also one of a few members to be a mother and is Andrea's second cousin. She was introduced to the channel by Mackenzie. She made her first gaming appearance in Give Up 2.
Mars has a strong personality, appearing cool and tough. Her commentary is considered one of the most explicit of the group, rivalling Drea's, and certainly the most sexual. She has the tendency to ramble quite a bit. She also wears hats in her videos, usually wearing them backwards, and has a wall full of hats at home. She doesn't do too well with horror games, usually panicking and jumping, which would lead to her sweating a lot - which lead to a fan bringing her a sweat towel. Her panicking would also lead to her screaming and yelling in gibberish. In rage games, she gets agitated quickly, usually cussing. She has shown to be able to sing but had said that she'll refuse any request to do a karaoke video.
In co-ops, she was paired with Molly until the latter's departure - and their Until Dawn playthrough was a massive hit with the fans. Like the later girls, she did not have a "go to" pairing, but she was usually paired with Andrea, Mackenzie, or Stephanie. Her two solo plays were Minecraft and HuniePop, both of which don't get uploaded regularly.
- Distracted by the Sexy: Mars is prone to doing this within games, more so than anyone else.
- The Lad-ette: Swears heavily, makes dirty jokes, and often indulges in quite a bit of Gay Bravado.
- Les Yay: The defining trait of her HuniePop videos.Mars: Gimme that pussy! [Beat] You'll need to bleep that out.
- Perky Goth: Some of her darker looks give this vibe. In the Five Nights at Freddy's videos, she has a tongue piercing.
- Tomboy
Stephanie made her first appearance on the channel in the 22nd AFK video on Christmas Eve, 2015 - though she was technically first seen on the December 13th livestream - and left during early 2017. She is the only core member who didn't replace a departing member upon her arrival. She made her first gaming appearance in Paint the Town Red and was introduced into the channel by Mackenzie. Her name is usually shortened to "Steph".
She has an energetic and cheerful personality, usually going into a game with optimism. Her light-hearted personality blends seamlessly into the group, bringing in gaming culture and knowledge into the channel. Unlike the other girls, she is not originally from Oregon and moved around the country, and was genuinely surprised by how welcoming the fans were.
She is a very determined gamer, always focused on winning, thus she doesn't do too well with rage games. She also has trouble improvising, shown especially in her outros. Although horror isn't her cup of tea, herself being one of the more vocal and jumpy of the girls, she does manage to keep her composure pretty well and would often cruise through harder parts of the game, reflecting her status as one of the most experienced gamers on the channel. Steph prefers console games and first person shooters. She usually does her hair in pigtails, which have lead to fans saying that she looks like Harley Quinn. With her hair down normally, she resembles Maude Garrett from Source Fed.
She had two solo plays: The Evil Within and Shadow Of The Colossus, being the only one to complete the former. As with Maddie, or any of the later girls, she did not have a "go to" pairing, but was commonly paired with Andrea, Mackenzie, and Mars in livestreams.
