Main Characters
The characters that narrate each of the three novels. Jos does double duty narrating both Warchild and it's upcoming sequel, The Warboy.Joslyn Aaron Musey: Main character of Warchild. Kidnapped after his ship was killed by Falcone. Hates Being Touched.
- Child Soldier: Enlisted with the Macedon at fourteen, but began training as a Ki'redan — Assassin Priest — at nine.
Ryan Azarcon: Main character of Burndive. Austro's Hot #1 Bachelor. He's seen more than enough to last him a lifetime. He's the least traumatized of the three, and that's saying something.
Yuri Kirov: Main character of Cagebird. He tries to get out of the pirate life, but leaving isn't so easy. Arguably the worst off of the three main characters.
- High-Class Call Girl: He was a member of the Hanamachi, a group of geisha-like courtesans.
- Physical Scars, Psychological Scars: His cutting scars represent his breaks with reality.
Macedon
Cairo Azarcon: The Captain of the Macedon. He's known for running a tight ship but accepting orphans and criminals among his crew. Has a past shrouded in mystery.
- Dark and Troubled Past: He was kidnapped by Falcone at twelve and indoctrinated into the pirate lifestyle. Although he was rescued at eighteen, he refuses to talk about what happened to him with anyone. In his words, his past shouldn't negate his positive actions in the present.
- A Father to His Men: Encourages his crew to go to school and earn degrees beyond what's needed for their jobs. Takes in people with rough pasts and gives them second chances. He's well earned his reputation.
Erret Dorr: A jet whose smart mouth keeps him from getting promoted. Very protective of people he considers his own. According to Word of God, is in a relationship with Corporal O'Neil of the Archangel.
Evan D'Silva: Jos's childhood friend and an ex-pirate slave. Smokes and sleeps around to cope with what he endured while aboard the pirate ship Shiva.
- All the Other Reindeer: Part of the reason why he sleeps around is so he can get protection from being picked on for being an ex-pirate, as many people see him.
- Really Gets Around: But extremely defensive about it, to the point where he gets upset when Ryan thinks sex is the only reason Evan's being nice to him.
- Red Herring Mole: When he reaches out to Jos for help it's setup as if he really is a pirate. Certainly the crew thinks so. Turns out he's not, he's just another broken soul.
Aaian'na and Sympathizers
All the people who support the Striviirc'na side of the story.Nikolas S'tlian: The Warboy. The Kia'redan Bae. Eldest child of Enas and Markalan. He leads the war on the Striv side and practically raised Jos after rescuing him from Falcone.
- Big Brother Mentor: More hands off than most examples because he's raising a traumatized kid. When they're not training, he's the one who teaches Jos how to paint.
- Cultured Warrior: The Ki'redan in general are this, but Niko especially shows interest in music, at least to Ryan.
- Hero of Another Story: Although that may change with the new book.
Ash S'tlian: Second child of Enas and Markalan. He hates EarthHub passionately. He taught Jos how to Burndive. He's also in cahoots with the pirates behind his brother's back.
Pirates and associates
Vincenzo Falcone: The Big Bad. A former EarthHub Captain turned pirate. He's in cahoots with Ash-dan and his crew. Not a nice guy.
