Hikari Kotobuki

All-Loving Heroine: She does not show even a hint of hatred toward anyone, not even the people who "made" her despite what they did to her.
Broken Bird: Her Trauma Conga Line is implied to have begun in a past life before the one she remembers and is still going on. And yet she somehow manages to stay positive.
Dark and Troubled Past: In life, she was a clone created for the sole purpose of donating her internal organs to Hotaru—meaning she was effectively raised to be sacrificed.
Dont Fearthe Reaper: She is a very cheerful and friendly shinigami, to the dismay of her colleagues.
Driven to Suicide: Upon discovering that she was a clone and realizing that saving her own life would condemn Hotaru, that's the path she chose.
Oblivious to Love: Both Councillor Ikki and Doctor Eisen are in love with her, which she is completely unaware of.
Shinigami: An exception among her kind not only because of her "unnatural cheerfulness", but also because, as the flashback to her past shows, she actually chose to be one when she didn't have to.
Sinister Scythe: Averted; her "scythe" is in fact a giant spoon.
Trauma Conga Line: The story so far is just an ongoing one for her.

Broken Bird: He is implied to be one.
Cheerful Child: According to flashbacks, he was one.
Childhood Friends: With Eisen.
Chivalrous Pervert: He saved Hikari from an eternity alone in darkness... and then proceed to grope her.
Dark and Troubled Past: He is implied to have one.
Divine Parentage: His father, King Yama, is of the kamizoku and the ruler of Hades Castle.
Hidden Agenda Villain: Thought the "villain" part is increasingly more questionable as the story progresses, his goal remains unknown.
Ladykiller in Love: He was very popular during his school days and acts like The Casanova, that is, until he met Kotori.

All Love Is Unrequited: He's in love with Hikari, but she has eyes only for Ryouma.
Divine Parentage: His father, King Yama, is of the kamizoku and the ruler of Hades Castle.
The Un-Favourite: See himself as this to King Yama compared to Ryouma, since his father never recognised him in any way (he's an illegitimate child).

All Love Is Unrequited: He's in love with Hikari, but she has eyes only for Ryouma.
Childhood Friends: With Ryouma.

Driven to Suicide: Her ill girl status and its consequences made her loathe the world so much she chose to end her life.
Idol Singer: She was one in life, until her illness forced her to stop.
Shinigami: One of those who defected with Ryouma, she wanted to get revenge on the people she knew in life.

Hidden Agenda Villain: So far, nothing is know of his objective, but his actions (having one of his sons go on a killing rampage and trying to have the other assassinate, to name a few) place him firmly in the "villain" category.

Died on Their Birthday: It's Implied that on Hotaru's 15th birthday she allowed herself to die (essentially suicide, and only suicides become reapers) so that the "real" Hotaru she was cloned from could get her organs, hence why her soul is different from the other reapers.
