Vincenzo Cassano

Portrayed by: Song Joong-ki

A Korean-Italian mafia consigliere for the Cassano family and lawyer who flees to Korea after an attempt on his life by his step brother. He becomes an advisor to the Jipuragi Law Firm.

  • Anti-Hero: He would use his ruthless Mafia strategies in dealing with his enemies for the good intentions.
  • The Chessmaster: Multiple times over the series, Vincenzo and Chayoung manipulate events to get their desired outcome. They especially like to make it seem like their opponent has won, only for them to pull the rug out from underneath them.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Instead of giving the greater evil a quick death, which he believes is a blessing, he would rather torture them painfully, both physically and mentally.
  • Chick Magnet: Despite being mafia consigliere, Most of the women really attracted to him how dark and handsome he was.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He doesn't kill women and children. This is a rule he lives by, as per the Cassano family principle. He can still break the rule if a woman is extremely evil and irredeemable.
  • Good Is Not Soft: As if a mafia member was ever in question at being soft, but over the series a much softer side of Vincenzo had been exposed, only for him to return to the cruel mafia methods in the finale.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Hong Yu-chan himself said that he wants the monstrous Babel Group to be taken down by another monster. That latter monster is Vincenzo, who can be more ruthless than his enemies.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Corn Salad," when the members of the Geugma Plaza misunderstand "Consigliere." Within the mafia underground, he's known as the "full cat" because a cat that's full will torture its prey until it becomes hungry and then devours its prey.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Most of the time, he would kill the bad guys the same way they killed their victims.
  • Pet the Dog: In his one-on-one moments with Jang Hanseo, Vincenzo's much softer side comes out even when he tries to be gruff.
  • Playing with Fire: One of the recurring shots is Vincenzo opening and closing a gold lighter; sometimes it'll light and sometimes it doesn't. One of his signature moves is to throw the lit lighter at a line of gasoline to burn his target.
  • Pretty Boy: His appearance and fashion were extremely attractive that most women fall for him included boy who is homosexual.
  • Pretty Little Headshots: How he would sometimes deal with his enemies' minions, but he finds this painless and too easy.
  • The Consigliere: It's explicitly stated that he's the 'Corn Salad' for the Cassano family.
  • The Protagonist: The show is named after him after all.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Almost always seen dressed in expensive, well-tailored suits.

Jang Joon-woo

Portrayed by: Ok Taec-yeon

A seemingly naive and cheerful Korean-American who is interning at Wusang. He's actually Jang Han-seok, the ruthless chairman of Babel Group.

  • Kick the Dog: Most of his moments with Jang Hanseo show how Joonwoo really had no care about him, and saw his younger half-brother was nothing more than a pawn to take the fall for Hanseok in case anything went south. Even in his final moments, Hanseok calls Hanseo useless.
