    The Gurizani Army

Lucina Velvet Gurizani, the Demon King's Inheritor

The central character of the story. The sole daughter of the previous, recently deceased Demon King Zephyr. She wishes to do whatever she can in order to prevent her clan from being destroyed, but the weight of her newfound responsibility sometimes breaks her facade and causes her to act her age. When they were younger, Quilt was in charge of her education, leading to her gaining romantic feelings for him before officially recruiting him for her cause.
  • Deuteragonist: While the story is told from Quilt's perspective, and his personal connections greatly influence the war between demons and humans, it's Lucina that's in charge of the army and is the main focus of the narrative.
  • Guest Fighter: Due to votes cast during its fundraising campaign, she appears in Venus Blood -Hollow- as a battle-only unit. An alternate universe version of her, designed by a fan, is also recruitable in Venus Blood -Gaia-.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: She has silver hair naturally, but her "Awakened" form turns it gold.
  • Power Tattoo: She gains a few glowing facial and chest marks upon reaching her "Awakened" form.
  • Tough Leader Façade: She had to take command of her father's territory at a young age, and needs to present herself as a mature and capable leader to prevent other demon nobility from usurping her, but she's still the demon equivalent of a young adult and acts like it in private.

Quilt, the Demonic Alchemist

The focal protagonist of the story. A young man from the Inna Clan, which is related to the royal family but still distant enough for him not to have high status. He's a bit frivolous but his skills with magical tools are unparalleled, leading to Lucina bringing him into her inner circle to help in her war for supremacy.

Garnet Toikurosu, General of the Gale

The leader of the Demon Princess' army, and her personal guard. She was scouted by the previous Demon King at a young age for her talent at martial arts, and she wishes to make amends for failing to protect him by swearing absolute loyalty to his daughter. It's hard to irritate her, but Quilt can do so easily due to a past incident between them.
  • Harping on About Harpies: She's a harpy with two black wings protruding from her back, and multicolored feathers sprouting near her ears.
  • My Greatest Failure: Her inability to prevent the previous Demon King's death in the war against the humans still weighs heavily on her, and she wishes to atone by serving Lucina as best she can.

Salacia Corduroy, the Witch Doctor

A recent recruit to the Demon King's army, who's trained in magic but has great knowledge of medical care, taking on the role of a military doctor. She's known Garnet since they were childhood friends.
  • Human Disguise: Although she appears to be a regular humanoid demon, it's a magical disguise and her true species is Scylla, a type of tentacled water-dwelling monster.

Lillicia, Quilt's Servant

A beastkin girl that once served Quilt's mentor, but after her passing now serves Quilt himself at his manor, and follows him into Lucina's employ. She's clumsy and scatterbrained, but her cheerful personality and abnormally high innate power that's useful in battle prevents others at being mad at her for long.
  • Cat Girl: She has two large cat ears, one of which is pierced, and a long orange tail.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Her true species is "Golden Beast", a persecuted beastkin variant that can transform into a powerful monster when mortally wounded at the cost of losing all reason and attacking ally and enemy alike.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Due to the experiments first performed on her by Quilt's mentor, she's become a masochist that feels pleasure from pain.

Kikyou, the Kanawa Chisai Merchant

A travelling demon merchant who runs her own trade union known as the Kanawa Chisai. She tends to be stingy, but has a soft spot for repeat customers, and has a history of dealing with Quilt.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: She tries to play up this image, keeping her black hair long and wearing her native Eastern-style robes.

    The Sharia Church

Selena Opekotto, the Saint of War

The princess of the royal family of the Schmidt Kingdom, who was orphaned at a young age and found comfort in the Sharia religion. Her devotion was so complete that she undertook a dangerous ritual, gaining holy magic powerful enough for others to believe she's a reincarnation of the war goddess Sharia, leading to her becoming the church's high priestess. As a symbol of the war against demons, she is often fighting on the frontlines alongside her knights.
  • Long-Lost Relative: She's actually Lucina's older half-sister, her mother having been sent to the demon lands as "sacrifice".

Florencia Triacetate, the Dragon-Blooded Hero

The daughter of a family of heroes from the Sultana Kingdom, descended from a dragon that saved humanity long ago. She is a hard worker and very compassionate, joining Sharia's fight against demons to protect her fellow humans rather than for personal gain, and believes it's her destiny to save the world by defeating the Demon Princess Lucina.

Primates Sheeting, the Iron Tactician

The staff officer of the Sharia Church, who has demonic blood and was persecuted for it in her youth but is now able to hide it. The trauma has made her mental strength nearly unbreakable, and she's able to make cold-hearted tactical decisions to turn the tide of battles. She also has some history with Quilt, having been trained in alchemy under the same master.
  • Rape as Backstory: Being subjected to sexual abuse as part of her persecution is the main reason she grew up to be iron-hearted.

Aion, the Biological Machine

An ancient golem soldier from a past war, restored to working condition and reoutfitted by Primates to fight for the Sharia Church. Her power is as great as an entire army of regular humans.
  • Human Resources: Due to humans not having compatible magic to empower her, she gets her recharges from the hearts of demons humanity kills during the war.
  • Robot Girl: She's a humanoid, living weapon restored by the Sharia Church.

Gerhart, the Commander-in-Chief of the Sharia Army

The head cardinal of the Sharia Church, and the leader of a reformation faction that's close to replacing the elderly, ailing, more moderate Pope Emmerich. His pursuit of ancient technology and using it against the demon army has received plenty of support, in addition to a huge profit.
  • Corrupt Church: He may be fighting for his fellow humans against the demons, but he's profiting from the war, and he's not being sincere for what he's planning to do.

Annarose, the Black-Robed Witch

A mysterious woman in mourning dress, whose advice seems to benefit all who follow it, earning her notable standing across the human realm.
  • Death by Woman Scorned: Sharia took advantage of her feelings of jealousy after her beloved left her for the human kingdom's princess in order to take control of her and murder them both, as part of Sharia's own scorned feelings towards humanity after she saved them from demons but was then betrayed by them.
  • Demonic Possession: She sought a book of wisdom that turned out to contain the will of the goddess Sharia, who has now taken control of her body.
  • Secret Identity: Her true identity is Febris, the thought-to-be-deceased former mentor of Quilt and Primates.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her true role in the conflict between humans and demons is a significant late-game twist.

    The Rodoria Faction

Shanan Flannel Rodoria, the Daughter of Hell

The daughter of the main competitor to Demon King Zephyr's throne. She is slightly older than Lucina, and likes to boast about how she excels in every aspect compared to her (including chest size), but is worried that she's lost at the thing she values most: the skill to court a potential husband like Quilt.
  • The Rival: Considers herself to be Lucina's, given their similar power and positions in life.

Agilis Flannel Rodoria, the King of Hell

A powerful demon lord who's secretly been fighting with the former Demon King Zephyr over control of the demon territory for a generation. He's known for his ambition, and plans to eventually conquer the entirety of the world.
