BLOODY SHADOWS

    Masaferry
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsbloodyshadows_masato.png
A human and the son of a village mayor, who is set to marry a girl to continue his family's lineage. Though he is set to be married to the girl he likes, he isn't happy because he knows she was just forced to marry him.
Played by: Hijirikawa Masato (Suzumura Kenichi in drama CDs)

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: His name seems to be a mashup of "Masato" and "Ferry".
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He agrees to become a vampire to spare the heroine's life.
  • Holding Hands: The heroine's last wish before he turns into a vampire is to hold hands with him. He asks her to remember his feeling of warmth, to remember that he was indeed a human.
  • Interspecies Friendship: With Warren. Masaferry initially doesn't know that Warren is a vampire.
  • Love at First Sight: He confesses to the heroine that this is how he fell in love with her.
  • Manly Tears: After finding out that the heroine was to be sacrificed to the vampires as part of a tradition.
  • Only Friend: His only friend is Warren, whom he often consults with for advice.
  • Perfectly Arranged Marriage: Though he loves the heroine, he fears that she does not reciprocate his feelings because they were arranged to marry.
    Warren
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsbloodyshadows_ren.png
A vampire who lives deep down in the forest with Ailess. Masaferry often comes to see him to spend time together, but the former doesn't know of Warren's true identity.
Played by: Jinguji Ren (Suwabe Junichi in drama CDs)

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason he fell in love with the heroine was because she treated his wounds and was kind to him, despite him being a vampire (not that she knew at the time, though).
  • Heel–Face Turn: He shoots Ailess with Masaferry's silver gun, presumably to save the heroine from being sacrificed. Though it turns out that he was also doing it for his own interests.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: At least Ailess seems to think that they only have each other to rely on.
  • In Love with the Mark: The person to be sacrificed to the vampires is no other than the heroine, who Warren has loved since she was a young girl. He tries persuading Ailess to change the sacrifice, but to no avail.
  • Interspecies Friendship: With Masaferry, who initially doesn't know that Warren is a vampire.
  • Interspecies Romance: He is in love with the heroine.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Ailess mentions that Warren was popular with the ladies at the capital.
  • Murder-Suicide: After shooting Ailess with a silver gun, he reveals that he plans to kill himself as well, because he's tired of being a vampire. He doesn't succeed though, as Ailess can regenerate.
  • Only Friend: His only friend is Masakage, hiding the fact that he is a vampire from the latter. He tells Masakage that the time they spent with each other was fun and made him feel like he was a human.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: After a long time, Warren is tired of living, and misses the warmth he felt while he was still a human being.
    Ailess
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tsbloodyshadows_ai.png
A cold-hearted vampire who lives deep down in the forest with Warren. He thinks humans are fragile.
Played by: Mikaze Ai (Aoi Shouta in drama CDs)

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: His name seems to be a mashup of "Ai" and "Less".
  • Heel–Face Turn: Subverted. He goes through with the sacrifice, but upon remembering his past memories of being a human, he allows Masaferry to take the heroine's place as the sacrifice to the vampires.
  • Healing Factor: After Warren shoots him with a silver gun, he was able to heal himself in a short amount of time. It's later revealed that he can heal himself if he has a sufficient amount of blood supply.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Ailess thinks that him and Warren only have each other to rely on.
  • Meaningful Name: "Ai" can mean love in Japanese, so his name can be interpreted to mean "without love".
  • The Stoic

Pirates of the Frontier

    Ikki
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otoya_1.jpg
A young captain of a ship who rescues the heroine after her ship got shipwrecked in a storm. He is out at sea to look for his father, who was a famous pirate who went missing at sea.
Played by: Ittoki Otoya (Terashima Takuma in drama CDs, Ozawa Ren in the stage play)

  • Big Eater: When it comes to Malraux's cooking, which Ikki loves a lot.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The red pendant given to him by the heroine as thanks for saving her later reacts to his father's song and saved Ikki and Malraux from the White Devil's magic.
  • Disappeared Dad: Ikki’s father, who was a pirate known as the Red Angel, went missing while at sea, and he recently found out that his father had some sort of relationship with a ruthless pirate known as the "White Devil". Because of this, he sold the house left by his mother to buy a ship in order to search for his father.
  • Generation Xerox: His father was also a kind pirate: he helped the weak, defeated evil, never attacked civilian ships, only targeted pirates. He was also willing to sacrifice his life to save his comrades.
  • Missing Mom: His mother died of an illness.
  • Nice Guy: It's mentioned several times that his personality is not fit for a pirate. He cares more about the ship's staff than himself. He rescued Malraux when the latter was kicked out of his previous ship, and rescues the main heroine when she got shipwrecked and even tried to buy her sweets as an expression of gratitude. He even later takes the White Devil along with him on his ship.
  • Pirate: Though he started the journey to look for his father, he also wanted to explore the world and see beyond the vast seas.
    Malraux
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ranmaru_8.jpg
A pirate who was left behind at a port after causing a problem on the last ship he was on, which led him to be taken in by Ikki.
Played by: Kurosaki Ranmaru (Suzuki Tatsuhisa in drama CDs, Kohatsu Allen in the stage play)

  • Big Brother Instinct: Ikki looks up to Malraux like an older brother.
  • But Not Too Foreign: It's never alluded to in-story, but despite knowing Japanese, his name is French.
  • Improbable Weapon User: He uses his cook's knife in battle. The White Devil mocks him for it, not knowing that Malraux is actually a cook.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's rough, violent, and prone to anger but he actually has kind intentions and cares for Ikki (and later on, the heroine) a lot.
  • Real Men Cook: He is the cook of Ikki's ship.
    White Devil
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/camus.jpg
A pirate who is rumored to be able to use magic. The people who see the White Devil can’t come back alive. However, he used to be a pirate on the Red Angel’s ship, leading Ikki to sail out to search for him, as he is the only clue to the whereabouts of Ikki's father.
Played by: Camus (Maeno Tomoaki in drama CDs, Kikuchi Shuji in the stage play)

  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was thrown into the sea by his own parents when he was young. Fortunately, he was picked up by the Red Angel's ship while he was drifting at sea. Later on in his life, he was captured by another group of pirates, so the Red Angel begged them to save Camus in exchange for his life.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: No one really loses in their battle, but Camus joins Ikki's group after revealing the truth about the Red Angel.
  • It's All My Fault: He tells Ikki that he killed the Red Angel. He later admits that while he didn't kill the Red Angel, the Red Angel died for him, so he feels as if he was the one who killed him.
  • Light Is Not Good: Despite his image color being white, he's called a devil with a reputation of being so ruthless that violent crying kids would shut up at the mention of him.
  • Only Known By His Nickname: His name is later revealed to be Camus.
  • Sweet Tooth: He is said to like sweets a lot, to the point that all his three meals are only composed of various desserts.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Sweets, to the point that sweet food in food stores in ports are always sold out because of him.

A senior detective at the agency Syo works for. He isn't enthusiastic about being assigned to be Syo's buddy.
Played by: Kotobuki Reiji (Morikubo Showtaro in drama CDs, Someya Toshiyuki in the stage play)

  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Reiji looks like he's always slacking off, but he's the criminal department’s number one detective.
  • The Nicknamer: Calls the heroine "Courage-kun" and Syo "Justice-kun".
  • Survivor Guilt: He doesn't want a buddy and pushes Syo away because his previous buddy died and Reiji wasn't able to save him.

Played by: Aijima Cecil (Toriumi Kosuke in drama CDs, Yokoi Shojiro in the stage play)

  • But Not Too Foreign: Tokiya mentions a rumor that Cecil has Enemy's blood, and later on Cecil admits that he is not an Earthling.
  • Calling Your Attacks: He suggests this to the other members when they were unable to shoot a beam, noting that in an old anime he watched, the main characters would scream out the name of the attack when they used it. Of course, it doesn't work.
  • Nice Guy: Sure, Natsuki is one too, but Cecil is the one who's actively trying to get the team to work together despite their differences.
