John's Family

    William H. Doe

William H. Doe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinarymrdoe.jpg
Power Level: 1.0
Superpower: None

John's father who lives in New Bostin. Working as an author, William was the writer of the highly controversial UnOrdinary book that left a great impact on the world since it led to many people taking up superhero vigilantism, which got in the way of the authorities. The book has since been banned from being read amongst the public, but the authorities allowed William to continue his normal life as long as he stayed out of trouble.

After discovering what the authorities and NXGen company have been doing to his wife, William decides to go against the government. He rereleases UnOrdinary as a book called "Untitled" on the internet to spark a new wave of superhero vigilantism.
  • Foreshadowing: The in-universe UnOrdinary mentions that The Hero Dies; William himself suffers this fate in Episode 319.
  • Good Parents: When he's unable to contact his son, he immediately goes to check on his welfare.
    • He also is supportive, but willing to call John out on his bad decisions.
  • Plot Device: The UnOrdinary book written by him inspired many high-tiers to become self-styled superheroes. It's also a precious item to John that helped him come to terms with how he should go about using his powers.
  • Power Level: 1.0 Low-tier. He's considered a powerless cripple.
  • Revenge Before Reason: His opposition to the society he lives in is reawakened when he discovers the full extent of what happened to Jane. Determined to make the Bureau pay, he rereleases "UnOrdinary" as "Untitled" despite being a powerless lone civilian going up against an incredibly powerful organization. Bureau agents murder him in his own home just a few days later.
  • Sacrificial Lion: In Episode 319, Jude of the Bureau executes him for anonymously publishing UnOrdinary (retitled Untitled) and sparking a new wave of superheroes. What sets his death apart from most Deceased Parents Are the Best situations is that it happens so far into the story after the reader has seen him interact with and help John and Sera through so many of their personal problems up to that point.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He looks just like an older and more mature version of John. They basically share the same cripple-hair look.
  • Un-Sorcerer: Like his son except John is lying, he does not have an ability.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He calls John out for lying to Seraphina.

    Jane

Jane

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jane_52.png
Power Level: 9.1
Superpower: Channel Master

John's mother, is missing for most of the story and apparently involved in shady experiments by the NXGen company.
  • All for Nothing: Handed herself over to the authorities to ensure William and John's protection. While noble, this only averts tragedy for a few years as the Bureau eventually decides to murder William when he rereleases UnOrdinary since Jane will never learn they did it anyway.
  • Delicate and Sickly: Became this after she lived all of those years in NXGen Research Facility as a test subject.
  • The Ghost: She is yet to make a physical appearance
  • Missing Mom: She went missing, much to William's dismay.
  • Mystical White Hair: Except for Rein, her brother, and a low-tier Wellston student, she is the only character with white hair. This is in a world where red and green hair are extremely common, but not white.
  • Nice Girl: Surprisingly considering her massive powers in a world that encourages the elite to be callous. Flashbacks have shown her to resent how only the powerful are considered valuable in society, and greatly value William for his skill in the written word, even though he's powerless.
  • Worlds Strongest Woman: By far the strongest character introduced so far, eclipsing the next known strongest, Seraphina, by more than an entire level. William figured the authorities would need an army just to catch her, and he didn't seem to mean an army of just low tiers. Later expanded upon: The authorities wanted to recruit her once she cut off her family to stay with William, but they couldn't until she acquiesced to protect Willian and John. The entire might of the government failed to force her to their will despite her being completely on her own.
  • Rich Sibling, Poor Sibling: It is implied that Jane is the poor sibling since she lost connection to her family many years ago. She also bought a book on sale which makes her meet William.

    Cameron

Cameron

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cameron_29.png
Power Level: Unknown
Superpower: Unknown note

Jane's brother who thinks she cut ties with him.
  • Child Hater: Vaughn points out that dealing with children is not Cameron's strong suit due to having no patience for them and viewing overly emotional responses as a waste of time. This makes it particularly difficult for all parties when he becomes the only family left in John's life following William's murder.
  • Jerkass: Acts mean towards William and his maid. And when he meets John to tell him his father is dead he is very blunt about it and makes it clear he doesn't have time for John's emotional outburst at the bad news.
Cameron: "I won't be dealing with your childish tantrums. Call me when you learn to talk like a civilized person."
  • Mr. Fanservice: Is seen showering and dressing up in his robe.
  • Mystical White Hair: He and her sister share the same trait.
  • Pet the Dog: He tracks down William's body after it had been buried out in the woods and gives him a proper funeral, lamenting that if he had acted sooner then he still would have been alive before seeking out John to tell him what happened.
  • Rich Sibling, Poor Sibling: He is the rich one.
  • The Shut-In: It is implied that he stayed at home for a while because of his work and in general seems to dislike interacting with people, finding them overly emotional and irritating.
  • Too Much Alike: He and John pretty much hate each other immediately upon first meeting. It doesn't help that Cameron is there to tell John about his father's death but it's also because they're both blunt, impatient, slow to trust new people, quick to cast judgment on others, and have difficulty considering other people's viewpoints beyond their own.

Seraphina's Home

    Narisa

Narisa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinarynarisa.jpg
Power Level: 7.4
Superpower: Time Manipulation note

Seraphina's abusive mother, who goes about making sure that her daughter works endlessly as a perfect student.

    Seraphina's Father

Seraphina's Father

Power Level: Unknown
Superpower: Unknown

Seraphina's father who's always away working.
  • Abusive Parent: Implied to be abusive, just like Narisa.
  • The Ghost: Never seen since he's always been away at work. He attempts to get Seraphina an interview for her to start work at NXGen. He is only seen as a silhouette in chapter 214

    Leilah

Leilah

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinaryleilah_3.jpg
Power Level: 6.6
Superpower: Time Manipulation note

Seraphina's older sister who ran away from home. Leilah eventually became employed at Spectre, and is in a relationship with Wellston High's Dr. Darren.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Light Purple.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Leilah's first appearance is in a photo she took alongside Sera. Said photo appears in a flashback in chapter 128.
  • The Ghost: Never seen (until her picture cameo in chapter 128), but is constantly referenced as having run away from the family, and is apparently Doctor Darren's girlfriend. Leilah finally appears in person for her date with Darren in chapter 141.
  • Ms. Fanservice: To impress her boyfriend, Leilah sends a flirtatious picture of herself in a pretty beach hat and swimsuit at the beach to Darren's phone.
  • Office Lady: Looks like such in her Spectre lab coat.
  • Power Level: 6.6 God-tier.
  • Rogue Agent: After Spectre had a disagreement about what to do with the ability disable, Leilah was forced to become a rogue agent along with Kayden.
  • Secret-Keeper: Withholds secrets about Spectre from Seraphina and Arlo.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: If not for her hair is a different color, you could probably tell right away that Leilah's from the same family as Sera and Narisa. Especially since she shares Narisa's green eyes, and has the same long unkempt hair style as Sera.
  • Time Master: Has a time-manipulation ability like her mother and sister.
  • Tragic Villain: Although her morality is arguable, it is still easy to empathize with her when you see how abusive her parents were.

    Fyora

Fyora

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinaryseraphinabutler.jpg
Power Level: Unknown
Superpower: Unknown

A young woman working as a butler in Seraphina's home.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Orange.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She easily gets stopped by Seraphina's time power when the latter decides that she's finally had enough, and leaves to confront her mother.
  • The Jeeves: Basically what her role is in Seraphina's home. She tries to make sure that Seraphina remains occupied with her bookwork to remain a perfect student who can one day land a good job while also warning Narisa of any oddities that possibly keep Seraphina away from studying. She's also sharply dressed like a butler.
  • No Name Given: Was never given a name until chapter 81.

Remi and Rei's Family

    Remi and Rei's Mother

Remi and Rei's Mother

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unordinarymotherremirei_5.jpg
Power Level: 3.5-4.9
Superpower: Lightning

The mother of Remi and Rei. Coming off as a good-natured woman, it's pretty much a given that the reason Rei and Remi are some of the nicer people in this world is due to her parenting.
  • Berserk Button: She gets angry when she remembers back to a girl from her high school days who always glared at her and spread bad/false rumors. She's apparently told this story multiple times to Rei.
  • Disappointed in You: While she doesn't outright say it to him, it's clear that she didn't like hearing Rei talking to Remi about Power Levels, which she proceeds to give her son a brief scolding about it.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Scolding her son about bringing up Power Levels to Remi immediately establishes that she's one of the nicer people in the story, and has been raising her children to be good people.
  • Good Parents: It's quite clear that the reason Rei and Remi are some of the only decent human beings in this universe is because of her parenting; raising the two of them to be good people. During her conversation with Rei, she scolds Rei for talking about someone's Power Level since the only thing that should matter is that Rei is already strong, and that he shouldn't be pressured to follow someone else just because they have a higher Power Level.
  • No Name Given: Her name is still unknown.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: While she only appears in a single chapter during Rei's 2-part side story, her chat with Rei is what spurred him to stand up for what he believes in rather than follow along with Kuyo's bullying just because Kuyo had the higher Power Level than him.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Rei got his hair color and eyes from his mother's side of the family. The same for Remi when it comes to her eyes.
