Swordbot Samurai Team
A trio of samurai-themed Autobots that are the focus of the Samurai Chapter.
Main Tropes
- Combining Mecha: Each member can form either the arms, midsection, or legs of a combined robot.
- Mechanical Lifeforms: As to be expected of Transformers.
- Samurai: Their theme is samurai robots.
- Transforming Mecha: They turn into vehicles.
Kenzan
Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu
The leader of the Swordbot Samurai Team.- Jack of All Stats: Compared to Jinbu's Fragile Speedster and Ganoh's Mighty Glacier, Kenzan is more of a balance.
- Cool Car: His alternate mode is a police car.
- Dual Wielding: He has two Katanas.
Jinbu
Voiced by: Kosuke Toriumi
The Swordbot Samurai Team's aerial combat specialist.- BFS: Even when not combined, his sword is huge compared to his body.
- Cool Plane: His vehicle mode of choice.
- Fragile Speedster: His bio gives him stat 10 for speed, but 6 for endurance.
- Shock and Awe: He has lightning powers.
Ganoh
Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto
The youngest, but strongest of the Swordbot Samurai Team.- Mighty Glacier: Despite being the youngest of the group, he has incredible strength. However, his bio gives him a 6 for speed.
- Playing with Fire: A fire truck that attacks with fire. Huh.
Swordbot Shinobi Team
A trio of ninja-themed Autobots that are the focus of the Shinobi Chapter.
Main Tropes
- Animal Motifs: Their alternate modes are animals.
- Combining Mecha: Each member can form either the arms, midsection, or legs of a combined robot.
- Land, Sea, Sky: Gekisoumaru is the Land, Hishoumaru is the Sky and Sensuimaru is the Sea.
- Mechanical Lifeforms: As to be expected of Transformers.
- Ninja: They are styled after ninjas.
- Transforming Mecha: They turn into robot animals.
Gekisoumaru
Voiced by: Toshihiko Seki
The leader of the Swordbot Shinobi Team.- BFS: His combined Go-Gekisou form is armed with a huge sword.
- Chest Blaster: The lion head that is his chest doubles as a laser.
- Jack of All Stats: The balanced member of the Shinobi Team compared to his comrades.
- King of Beasts: Turns into a robot lion.
- Weapon Specialization: He is armed with his "Vivit Brute" whip.
Hishoumaru
Voiced by: Daisuke Sakaguchi
A humorous Swordbot who keeps his team in a good mood.- Blow You Away: He's a robot bird armed with a fan in robot mode, put two and two together.
- Combat Hand Fan: His weapon is a fan with kunai knives detailed into it.
- Fragile Speedster: His bio gives him stat 10 for speed, but 5 for endurance.
- Giant Flyer: Turns into an orange robot bird.
Sensuimaru
Voiced by: Junji Majima
The mentor figure of the Swordbot Shinobi Team.- Fuuma Shuriken: Main Weapon
- Making a Splash: As fitting of a robot shark.
- Mighty Glacier: Downplayed compared to Ganoh, as his bio ranks his Strength as 10, but his speed is 8 compared to Ganoh's 6.
- Threatening Shark: Turns into a robot shark, though the "threatening" aspect is downplayed because he is heroic.
Hunter Optimus Prime
Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa
The leader of the Autobots. Having left Earth, he entrusts the Swordbots with gathering the Legendiscs.- Back for the Finale: Optimus Prime returns to Earth to aid the Swordbots in the finale.
- Big Good: He is the leader of the Autobots, and thus the Swordbots.
- Mid-Season Upgrade: His Optimus Exprime body, which he gains in time for the finale.
- Cool Train: As Exprime, he turns into a bullet train.
- Supporting Leader: Despite being the face of the franchise, he mostly appears through communications rather than in-person.
Humans
Isami Tatewaki
Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu
A boy with a strong sense of justice. He is the focus of the Samurai Chapter.- Badass Normal: He's a regular human, but is able to hold his own (at least as much as someone tiny compared to a huge robot could) against the Predacons.
- Meaningful Name: His name translates to "sword-carrying hero".
- Nice Guy: He wants to become strong to protect his friends and family, and unlike Tobio is completely honest in how he tries to obtain the Legendiscs.
Tobio Fuma
Voiced by: Ayahi Takagaki
The Fuma ninja clan's latest descendent. He is the focus of the Shinobi Chapter.- Badass Normal: He's a regular human, but is able to hold his own (at least as much as someone tiny compared to a huge robot could) against the Predacons.
- Guile Hero: Unlike Isami, Tobio is not afraid to use dirty tactics to get the Legendiscs. Unfortunately, Tobio's ancestor Kotaro does not approve of his methods at all.
- Historical Character's Fictional Relative: The Fuma ninja clan is real, as is Kotaro Fuma, Tobio's ancestor.
- Ninja: It runs in the family.
Four Oni
Four Predacons under the service of Dragotron, and can summon the five Jaki to do their bidding.
- Animal Motifs: They turn into robot dragons.
- Four Is Death: A group of four villains.
- Our Dragons Are Different: Robot dragons, to be exact.
Budora
Voiced by: Tetsu Inada
The leader and most powerful of the Four Oni- Palette Swap: He's Beast Hunters Grimwing with a new head and color scheme.
- The Starscream: He would prefer if Dragotron stayed in his slumber, as then he could rule the Earth himself. At one point, he suggests using the green Legendisc to take over the past and pretends to be joking when Bakudora points out doing so would be against Dragotron's orders.
Bakudora
Voiced by: Yoji Ueda
The fastest and most loyal of the Four Oni.- Beware My Stinger Tail: He can use the Siphon Claw on his tail to Life Drain.
- Life Drain: The power of the Siphon Claw on his tail.
- Palette Swap: He's Beast Hunters Ripclaw with a new head and color scheme.
- Undying Loyalty: He's the most loyal of Dragotron's minions.
Gaidora
Voiced by: Masami Iwasaki
A super-strong and heavily-armed Predacon.- Palette Swap: He's Beast Hunters Lazerback with a new head and color scheme.
- Super-Strength: His main distinction among the Four Oni is how strong he is.
Judora
Voiced by: Atsushi Imaruoka
A member of the Four Oni who acts quiet and gentle, but is actually very violent.- Faux Affably Evil: He acts rather quiet and gentle, but even Budora is scared of the rage behind that demeanor.
- Palette Swap: He's Beast Hunters Skystalker with a new head and color scheme.
- Sissy Villain: He speaks in rather feminine Japanese.
Jaki
Drone Predacons that the Four Oni can create out of random objects if needed. The Four Oni can control the Barara, Burara, Garara, and Jurara types, while Dragotron himself controls the Dorara types. They can combine into Goradora.
Main Tropes
- Animal Motifs: They turn into robot dragons.
- Combining Mecha They combine into Goradora.
- Flat Character: They are just mindless drones, meaning no real semblance of a personality for any of the Jaki.
- Mecha-Mooks: They are Predacon drones they Four Oni can summon to do their bidding.
- Palette Swap: They are recolors of the Beast Hunters Abominus components, right down to the same detailing and color layouts.
- The Speechless: They never talk.
Dragotron
Voiced by: Yoji Ueda
Created by Shockwave, Dragotron is the Demon Emperor of the Predacons who led his brethren to rebell against their creators. Sealed underground with the power of the Legendiscs, The Four Oni work to awaken Dragotron.- Bad Boss: In the finale, he absorbs the Four Oni to their shock and confusion.
- Big Bad: He is the leader of the Predacons.
- Mid-Season Upgrade: Once awakened, he changes to red and becomes Guren Dragotron.
- Palette Swap: His initial appearances have him look exactly like Predaking, but his Guren Dragotron upgrade has a different, red color scheme.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: He was sealed underground with the Legendiscs.
