Characters / Total Zeksmit Series

Go To

The character sheet for the Total Zeksmit series. Do Note that this sheet alone will spoil the first elimination. It is currently very much unfinished. All details, except for eliminations (which has its own exception in the first elimination) and the latest chapter's important plot points are unmarked.

Tropes on the character's canon selves will go under their own character sheet.

Show Staff

    Ezekiel Foster "Zeksmit" Smithy

"They're not victims! They might be in your show, but in here they're just contestants! Or... campers! Yeah, that's right! And I full well intend on giving them proper camper treatment!"

The main host of the series, Ezekiel is rather egotistic and self-centered.

  • Didn't Think This Through: The number of times he fails to really think through how a challenge works and has to have Justin bail him out is pretty staggering considering how this isn't too far into the story. The worst offender so far is probably "Bears, Bares, and a Whole Lot of Flare", where he assigns several interns to building a bridge... except, due to how it's made, there's no convenient way up, so he has to get Justin to helicopter them on the bridge.
  • Does Not Understand Sarcasm: He does sometimes, but other times he's completely blinded to it. Like when Justin says that the most humiliating job on the show he can think of is being Ezekiel's assistant. Ezekiel takes that seriously, saying that while he doesn't agree, he'll still go by Justin's word because he doesn't have any better ideas on what to do with Geoff.
  • Mr. Exposition: While he does recieve some character development, usually before or after the challenges, most of his purpose is to just explain how each challenge works. He is very elaborate in doing this.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: As with his depiction on the original show.

    Justin Bailey

"Trust me, when this game is over, you'll all be wanting me to be the host."

    Geoff Bacon

"So if you don't like being here, former campers, blame Chris for being so famous. Uh... that's just what Ezekiel wanted me to say."

He plays the role of the series's Aftermath host. Or, played. He was fired after only one episode of his job, but he eventually got re-hired the following chapter after he's kidnapped by Homer as part of a prank and breaks out with the help of Sadie. Because Ezekiel admired Geoff's boldness, he decided to give him another job, this time being equals with Justin as per Justin's joking command.

  • Butt-Monkey: For some reason, he's frequently picked on by Justin and Ezekiel. What with having his introduction shoved off into a confession that's even cut off before he can properly talk about himself. And Ezekiel firing him from his job. Heather also isn't a saint on him either, basically coming up with several ways to shove him out of the interviews/tell him to shut up.

    Kathy Ikaname

"Since you survived to this point, let me give you one important piece of advice: Beware of Homer."

So far the only Original Character in the main show staff. She's an incredibly strange girl that often hangs around the Zekitunakwa Woods over the course of the game, telling the contestants rather cryptic warnings. In truth, she's just trying to screw with them and make them hate the game, believing that it's rather amoral by Ezekiel's standards and wanting him to drop it all. In-staff, she comes up with several of the challenge's finer details, such as how something would be placed, what an obstacle course would look like, etc.

Pikmin Fan has said that she will become a contestant in seasons two onward, however the reason why hasn't been elaborated upon yet. When the time comes, she will be moved to a "second generation" section of this page.

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: "Ikaname." It's not a real surname.
  • Border Patrol: Non-video game example, but according to Ezekiel, she patrols the woods and brings back anyone who strays too far from Zekitunakwa.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Actually has dark red hair, but close enough.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Appearing out of nowhere and unexpectedly (with only the tiniest amount of foreshadowing that she even existednote ), followed by giving Lindsay advice that gives away the bare-bones concept for a major future challenge. And possibly makes that challenge sound more intimidating than it is.
  • Expy:
    • Hm, a pale-skinned girl with (semi in her case) lengthy dark hair, with a suit, a giant weapon, sharp teeth, and a generally mischevious atittude? And large breasts? Sounds like a mash of Fan's two portrayals of Rip, that also draws heavily from her canon design.
    • She's also something of a very bizarre cross between Gwen and Izzy. Justin lampshades this before her debut by saying that either of those two might like her. Gwen still hasn't met her, but seeing as Izzy's first official interaction was her breaking into the confessional and probably slugging her over her shoulders, that part might have been wrong.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Invoked. While Ezekiel is walking off in his brief web show, Kathy tries to intimidate him by staring not at him, but at the camera.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: On the surface, she seems like a weird jackass, and she is toying around with Ezekiel a tiny bit, but she seems to have some intentions. If... bizarre intentions.
  • Meaningful Name: "Ikaname" is named straight out from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Ikana Valley is full of undead. And seeing her scythe is a not-so-subtle nod to the grim reaper...
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Possibly inverted, since she pretends to be some wise and all-knowing, mystic figure out of the show staff. She's really just leaking information in cryptic ways.
  • One of the Boys: In fact, she appears to be the only female friend Ezekiel has after Blaineley started seeing herself as superior to him, and seems to have no female friends. Then again, any further friendships she, Geoff, Ezekiel, and especially Justin have outside of eachother (and even then, Justin hardly seems to be on good terms with Ezekiel and hasn't interacted with Geoff on-screen yet, though he's behind editting the show and he did cut Geoff's introduction short. He does seem to like Kathy) is unknown.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: A little side-story in the author's profile (now deleted) suggests that she's part of the vampiric elemental class, since John asks if she's a vampire and she replies by saying that she's not the type he's used to. It helps that vampirism, as with the other classes, are commonplace in TZ's world.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Ikaname. Said outright by Word of God, which is currently the only confirmation of her surrname.
    • She seems to be based on Slender Man appearance-wise, being tall, pale figures in dark suits that usually hang around in the woods and make infrequent appearances. However, that's where the parallels end; Slendy does not tend to pretend to care about a person's ass.
  • Sinister Scythe: Weilds one. Has yet to use it as a weapon though.
  • Super-Speed: She's implied to have some variant of this, based on the scene in "Pairing is Caring" equally implied to be from her POV that describes the camera as quickly zooming through the woods and ending up by the Mess Hall. This would also explain how she managed to get Lindsay from the depths of the woods back out to the entrance.
  • Troll: She trolls Lindsay in her first appearance. In her second, she does this to her again (by coincidence; she probably didn't plan that Lindsay would be eliminated from the challenge), Izzy, and Sadie, by hyping up their paranoia about Justin's specially issued panic button and acting like a meanacing intruder before revealing herself.

    (Unmarked Spoiler Warning) "Homer"/Harold/Courtney's Boyfriend

Very little was known about this enigmatic being, other than that Kathy thinks Lindsay should beware of it.

Speaking of "Pairing is Caring," the contestants hear a very loud roar at one point in their challenge that shook the entire campgrounds. While not stated outright, it's implied that Homer may have something to do with this. A mere one chapter later, and a figure all-but stated to be him makes an appearance at the very end, where he seems to capture Sierra and fly her to Zekitunakwa.

Finally, the chapter with which his name is in it reveals some details about him: He's Harold, and he signed up for a reason that's not completely clear yet. He partook in a project to go into a superpowered Homer Simpson costume based on a video Ezekiel once saw and try to capture the other contestants, his reward being that he could become a new contestant (as Ezekiel said that there wouldn't be any returns to the game, but he never mentioned new additions). He fails, so he has to take the role of the new Aftermath host to replace Geoff.

  • Color-Coded Characters: Gold as Homer. It's unknown as Harold.
  • Flight: He has the strange ability to "fly" of sorts.
  • Kiss-Kiss-Slap: His relationship with Courtney seems to be this, based on Courtney's comments on him in the first six chapters and how she's a bit cold to him when they first meet. He all-but states during the sign-off that she outright bosses him around, and he never stands up for himself.
  • Mirror Match: When against Courtney, because he was simply using the fighting moves Courtney taught him. The use of those moves made Courtney instantly recognize him.
  • The Sixth Ranger: To the show staff. Ezekiel knows him even less than he knows Justin, who had up until this point been the latest member of the staff he got to know.
  • Walking Spoiler: His appearance at The Stinger of chapter 6 is supposed to be a surprise, and he's been implied several times to be major part of the story. There is also the fact that he is Courtney's boyfriend, Harold, under that costume, who will replace Geoff as the Aftermath host while Geoff gets promoted/demoted to the main competition.
  • The Worf Effect:
    • After bragging about being able to hypothetically take on all of Ezekiel's defenses (and possibly being one of the strongest contestants in general), Sierra is quickly captured by him and sent to God-knows-where.
    • He completely screws over Eva in their first fight, and would have captured and eliminated her if not for Sadie stepping in and protecting her. Eva makes a turn-around in their second fight.

Generation One Contestants

Screaming Buffalo

    Bridgette

  • Decoy Protagonist: Kicked off before the merge after spending the early story being mildly geared to be a protagonist.
  • Only Sane Woman: She is one of the most rational members of her team. Between the bloodthirsty Eva, the equally-agressive Izzy, and Sadie and (at first) Katie blindly following around Eva, she fits.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Voted off to show that Eva doesn't limit herself to targetting fodder, and she can come up with pretty ruthless and complicated plans for her eliminations.

    Eva

"My team is ahead by a longshot, I'm making one new friend while splitting her from her old friend, my biggest enemy is in an emotional panic and the last two campers who have so much as a shot against me are both eliminated now. Life. Is. Sweet."

  • Ascended Extra: As with a majority of Pikmin Fan's characters. She moves from being the least-competing contestant out of canon's first generation to the story's villain.
  • Big Bad: Of the first season, at least.

    Izzy

    Katie

  • Sacrificial Lamb: She is Eva's first target, and suffers from the most physically painful series of events leading to her elimination. Getting knocked onto a slide and tumbling down the remaining few feet of it.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: You know those stories where Sadie gets an early elimination or otherwise doesn't get to do much in the story, while Katie becomes an Ascended Extra? Yeah, this isn't one of those stories, and "Cosplay Roughplay" serves to remind you that.

    Sadie

  • The Dragon: To Eva, in the first season at least. Amusingly, the usual take of the Dragon being a physical obstacle with the Big Bad being a mental or ethic one is inverted, as Sadie's usually involved in more emotional opperations.

Killer Jackrabbits

    Beth

    Courtney

"Being a CIT doesn't work that way!"

  • Heel–Face Turn: In the first chapter, she was a legitimately antagonistic force. In chapter 2, she starts going after Eva, and her team as a whole is more on to her, which limits her actions. Near the end of that same chapter, she makes an alliance with Lindsay and Beth and the latter becomes her Morality Pet. Now she's one of the more heroic characters as of the final five. Eva is the villain, Sadie's her right-hand, Izzy has to deal with figuring out the proper way to deal with all of this, and Beth has been shown to be a little too hasty and emotional when it comes to her decisions, especially those involving friends.

    Gwen

"I did not sign up for a hick show."

  • Deadpan Snarker: Especially when it comes to Ezekiel.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Worse than Bridgette. She gets a bit of screentime in the first two chapters being really snarky, wins the first challenge and becomes a captain, the first chapter makes her out to be a hero against to both Courtney and Heather's more jerkish actions, and... well, let's just say that the first chapter nearly flips around the screentime everyone gets and their role in the plot.

    Leshawna

    Lindsay

  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Sort of. While she does have a nudity taboo, it's incredibly misunderstood. In her audition, she reveals that she seems to think that any form of clothing at all automatically doesn't count as being naked.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The AN at the end of "Bears, Bares, and a Whole Lot of Flare" acknowledge that she's been this in the main show. In TZ, however, she's mostly been on equals with the other contestants in getting the same amounts of fanservice (meaning, not that much at all), and as if to be true she survives up to the challenge where everyone is forced to be naked and gets voted off on that challenge. Lastly, she fills the role when it comes to auditions, as Word of God says that she's planned to have the most fanservicey audition unless future plans change that.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Admitted to be a case of this by Word of God.

Teamless

    Heather

"Three people voted for me? Alright, whoever you are, after this I'm gonna make your life on this prarie miserable!"

  • Alpha Bitch: She tries to establish herself as this.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: The story sets herself up to be the main villain. She does play a villain role in the beginning. Then gets kicked off first.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Right, she's totally going to be a big threat in this game.
  • Walking Spoiler: It's kind of hard to say anything about her without giving away the fact that she's voted off first. Especially because there is no reward challenge or first-of-two-part prior to the chapter she's kicked off on. She's voted off on the literal first chapter, something which is actually rather uncommon in this fandom's fanworks.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: She thinks she can rise up to be the main villain, and/or that her "table" plan would work. That Gwen and Leshawna might just lie there like idiots while she makes off with the Guilded Zeke. And on a less related note, that kissing up to Ezekiel would be a viable strategy. Nope.

Extreme Musical Drama High School-related

    Chris McClean

  • Jerkass: His first and only appearance is him trying to make the contestant's ride deliberately unpleasant. At least, that's what Ezekiel says, but knowing his canon incarnation that's probably the intent here.

    Chef Hatchet

Confirmed to be in the story by Word of God.

    Contestants/Students

Twelve other competetors who went with Ezekiel on the first season. Not much is known about them right now.

On the night of publishing chapter eight, Fan made a Tumblr post that leaked half of themnote , not counting Ezekiel's returning role. These are:

  • Zelda, a "Nice" Prarie Girl who is also Ezekiel's cousin and set to be a contestant in season two. (Quote marks part of the post.)
  • Felicia, a Naturist Singer based on the Darkstalkers character with the same name.
  • Amethyst, who is only described as being a Horrible Annoyance and implied to be an antagonist. Unlike Felicia, she has no connections with the Steven Universe character of the same name, but she might have some kind of connection with the "Gemm Triplets," three confirmed season two contestants.
  • Karen, a "Coolkid." Again, quotes part of the entry.
  • David AKA "Diablo," a Threatening Emo.
  • Dario, a Thug.

Other

    Sierra

Her only appearance so far is The Stinger at the end of chapter 6, where she is revealed to be a stalker fan of Ezekiel.

According to Word of God, she will be a contestant starting from season two.

  • Establishing Character Moment: Right from the bat, before the character mentioned is even confirmed to be her, she says she wants to have Ezekiel for herself.
  • Yandere: Towards Ezekiel, apparantly.

    Alejandro

Alejandro has been taunting Justin for an unspecified amount of time prior to the events of Total Zeksmit proper, and has made a bet so that he needed to charm at least four of the contestants before the game ends. However, he himself has not made an appearance yet, and with the reveal of the identity of Courtney's boyfriend, it is unlikely he will by the end of season one.

  • The Ghost: As it stands, he has not made a proper appearance, although a text message to Justin from him was visible at one point.

    Blaineley

In this AU, she was a friend of Ezekiel's prior to becoming famous earlier than he "did." She began looking down on Ezekiel and Geoff afterward.

Unlike her canon incarnation, she is both an incredible Ace and she's the same age as the contestants/Ezekiel/Justin. It's even implied that either her real name is Blaineley, or that she's lied to some of her closest friends for all of their lives. She still seems to be a colossal Jerkass though. She has yet to appear in the series proper.

    Betty

Bridgette's younger sister.
