Who's a good girl, yeah, you're a good girl, Momo!

The protagonist.

  • Achievement In Ignorance: He's the one who killed the first monster, and it was a complete accident, because he ran over a large "dog" as he was driving home from work.
  • Androcles' Lion: He was fond of feeding a stray dog, the Shiba Inu, Momo. She's his first companion after the apocalypse.
  • Awesome by Analysis: He figured out the High Orc's Kryptonite Factor all by himself after remembering how the monster walked away just before a rain-storm and seeing it dodge a water balloon when it fearlessly just shrugged off everything else.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He almost never fights fair.
  • Cowardly Lion: He is quite cowardly, doing his best to be an ambush predator, and fleeing when he sees a powerful monster, but when the situation is dire, rises to the challenge.
  • Fluffy Tamer: He tames several monsters over the course of the story.
  • Hammerspace: One of the first skills he buys is the [Item Box] skill which allows him near infinite storage.
  • Hobbes Was Right: He's a fan of light novels and apocalypse stories, so he's of the opinion that the most dangerous threat in an anarchy are other people, and he's consistently proven right.
  • Hypocrite: He spends the early chapters only thinking of his own and Momo's well-being, cleaning out the local stores with his [Item Box] skill and not even lifting a finger to help other survivors, but when he finds himself face to face with the High Orc, screams for aid. He is vocally decried by a significant part of the fanbase as a result. He gets better.
  • Magnetic Hero: To his chagrin, he tends to be a magnet for other people. He's aware that in an anarchy, the most dangerous thing are other people, not monsters.
  • Master of Disguise: After taking the [Ninja] job, he can disguise himself as anyone he knows. Because of Ichinose's agoraphobia, he impersonates her as the party is investigating a town that somehow manages to have electricity, air conditioning, and running water.
  • Not the Intended Use: He uses his [Item Box] skill not just for storage, but to drop large, heavy objects on monsters.
  • Slept Through the Apocalypse: Aside from accidentally running over a shadow wolf, which he did while driving half-asleep, he completely failed to realize the monster invasion was going on until he woke the next day, his neighborhood overrun by monsters.
  • Stealth Expert: The build he chooses to go with, by choosing [Spy] and then [Assassin] jobs.

Woof!
Kodou's first companion
  • Animal Companion: Her role in the story.
  • Casting a Shadow: As a result of consuming the "Shadow Wolf" stone Kodou fed her at the start of the story, she can hide in and attack with shadows to restrain enemies.
  • It Can Think: She's fully sentient.
  • Power Parasite: In addition to getting perks from the RPG system, she also gains abilities by eating monster stones.
  • The Speechless: Although she can fully comprehend human speech, being a dog, she lacks the ability to speak.

     Aka

[Red Slime would like to join your party, will you accept?]
A red slime that wanted to join Kodou's party. Initially hesitant, Kodou relents when Momo throws it a mimic stone.
  • Attack Reflector: Eventually gains the ability to reflect a physical attack. Ichinose occasionally uses this to reflect the recoil from her sniper rifle, making her shots even more deadly.
  • Equippable Ally: Often takes the form of a protective vest that Kodou wears.
  • Monstrous Cannibalism: It's a slime that eats other slimes.
  • Pet Monstrosity: It's a monster and after joining the party, is Kodou's pet.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: After being fed a mimic stone, it can take on the form of anything, or anyone, it has seen.

     Ichinose Natsu

As I thought, speaking in person is difficult.
A teenage shut-in girl that joins Kodou's party after rescuing him from the High Orc.
  • Bully Magnet: Before she dropped out, rather was driven out, of high-school, the fact that she was the childhood friend of the local School Idol drew a great deal of jealous resentment her way. These clods made her high-school career a living hell, until they went too far and not only got her yanked out by her parents for her own safety, but they also framed said School Idol as the ringleader so they got her expelled along with themselves.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She reaches out to Kodou because of Momo, the Shiba Inu.
  • Friendly Sniper: She just barely qualifies.
  • Gamer Chick: After being chased out of school by bullies, with Japan's education system refusing to let her attend, she spent most of her days deeply immersed in massive online games.
  • Glass Cannon: She can deal massive amounts of damage with her sniper rifle, but as a direct result of choosing the [Shut In] job, her stats nose-dived, so she's extremely fragile and can't take a hit.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Though she likes to dye her hair pink, the roots show that she's blonde and is a good, kind woman who wants friends.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: She wears giant ear-muffs, especially when she's overwhelmed and wants to be alone.
  • Hikikomori: Not only is she extremely agoraphobic thanks to the horrific bullying she endured, but when she got the system prompt, picked the [Shut In] job, which made things worse.
  • Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: Because she's agoraphobic and a sniper, Kodou was initially very suspicious of her intentions, but quickly realizes she's actually a good, kind woman who wants friends, but is too scared to reach out to them in person.
  • No Social Skills: Not only does she have terrible phobia of face-to-face conversation, but when she reached out to Kodou the first time, she spammed him with e-mails when he had no way to reply.
  • Super Power Lottery: One of the few perks of her [Shut In] job is a gacha that gives her food, tools, or skills and perks. The last of these gave her the [e-mail] ability which allows her to instantly communicate with anyone she's seen, regardless of distance.
  • Trauma Button: Simply the mention of going to a high-school building terrifies her.

GGRRRROOOOOAAAAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!
The most powerful of the early monsters.
  • Blood Knight: He seeks out an enemy strong enough to make him fight with all his strength.
  • Charles Atlas Super Power: Kodou drops a crane on him. He catches it, one-handed, and then throws it at Kodou. If not for Aka intercepting it...
  • Eye Scream: Ichinose manages to shoot him in the eye, with predictable results.
  • Go Out with a Smile: Finally satisfied in finding a worthy fight with Kodou, Momo, Aka, and Ichinose, it keels over, smiling, before disappearing in a flash of light, leaving a huge monster stone behind.
  • Immune to Bullets: He's on-screen shrugging off concentrated high-powered semi-automatic weapons fire from multiple members of the JSDF at the same time.
  • In a Single Bound: He's on-screen jumping from the top of a highrise to a street at sea-level, miles away.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Hint, there's a reason he doesn't like getting caught in the rain.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: His roar alone can kill people.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: He just barely avoids killing other orcs. Everyone and everything else, he's compelled to attack and kill.
  • Super-Strength: He's on-screen blowing up a helicopter, by jumping on it.
  • Super-Toughness: Kodou does manage to stab him with a scavenged orc knife. It doesn't even pierce his skin.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Kodou and the JSDF were having a relatively simple time dealing with monsters, as long as they were cautious and didn't try for too many at once, then this guy shows up and ROFL-stomps everybody and everything he comes across...
  • Ye Olde Butchered English: How the reader is shown his thoughts during his P.O.V. chapter.
