Seagra

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seagra_0.jpg
Freezing Monster

First appearance: Birth of a New Hero
A quartet of kaiju sealed in an iceberg, released after their icy prison hits the Antarctic Coast, near where the Scientific Defense Guard's Southern base is deployed. Luckily, Choichiro Hikari is stationed right there, and had recently received Ultraman Joneus' powers.
  • An Ice Person: All four Seagras can breath icy mists as ranged attacks.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They absolutely didn't stand a chance against Joneus. The Ultra destroys two, the third lands a lucky hit on Joneus which briefly seals the hero in ice only for Joneus to energize himself and quickly break out, before destroying the last two with as little effort.
  • Human Popsicle: Four giant kaiju encased in ice, who shows up in the Arctic sea before breaking out of their ice prisons and going on a rampage.
  • Starter Villain: They are the first pack of kaiju foes for Ultraman Joneus to overcome. And Joneus wipes them all out with comical ease, firmly establishing himself as a capable hero.
  • Tail Slap: Another ability they displayed during combat. Not effective against Joneus, however.

Spiral

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spiral_7.png
It's Heart.

First appearance: The Secret of the Shining Pendant
Shortly after the Seagras are defeated, another kaiju called Spiral appears, seemingly from out of nowhere in the ocean. A pulsating heart who can control the weather and appearing in the form of a sentient, living tornado.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: Spiral is functionally invincible thanks to its tornado form blowing away every attack, but it's heart is it's sole weakness. Destroying it disperses the tornado and eliminating it for good.
  • Blow You Away: The monster's basic ability, creating a tornado surrounding its core that blows away everything in its path.
  • Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud: In classical tornado fashion, touching Spiral's wind body will have victims sucked into its core (Exhibit A: Marume and her fighter jet). But as it turns out, this also leads to the monster's internal heart, it's sole weakness.
  • Weather Manipulation: Spiral's heart can control wind currents, creating a tornado shell around itself.

A crocodile-looking monster that awakens from its slumber in the Tōgō Mountain regions. Hikari managed to destroy it without resorting to summoning Ultraman Joneus, but its cells regenerate into a baby monster who then tricks a child into adopting it.
  • From a Single Cell: The cells of a deceased Wanigodon can detach itself into baby Wanigodons, one which ends up being collected by a child named Takashi.
  • Mythology Gag: This isn't the first time a baby monster with hostile intent tricks a human child into adopting it as a pet, suckers off some poor kid's kindness as it grows in power, and later reveals its monster form to attack humans. It's actually the fifth. (Exhibit A: Kingstron. Exhibit B: Sabotendar. Exhibit C: Mottokureron. Exhibit D: Absorba.)
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: A crocodilian kaiju that goes on a rampage after awakening in the mountains.
  • There Is Another: The first Wanigodon is quickly put down by Hikari early in the episode, but later on a second Wanigodon — a baby called Pero — tricks itself into becoming a boy's pet, before growing to kaiju size for a rematch.

Red Smogy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smogy.jpg

A monster made of red alien smog, descending into earth and assuming a kaiju form. Yes, kind of like an alien variant of Zazahn.

  • Blob Monster: One made of a gaseous material, which materializes into a chubby humanoid form.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Red Smogy is a Red Smog monster.
  • Super Smoke: The monster's primary ability, turning itself into a red smoke before alternating to kaiju form at will. In smog form, Red Smodgy can also cause explosions. But it will be forced back to kaiju form upon being drenched with water.

  • Monster Is a Mommy: As it turns out, Tough Gillan and Gillas have a brood of baby monsters, called Tough Gillacos, which Joneus finds out AFTER destroying the two. Unable to execute the infants, Joneus instead shrinks the Gillacos into pets.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Sadly, neither Gillan nor Gillas are genuinely harmful; they are only trying to mate, but ends up causing problems for the humans due to the massive amount of plants they're eating.
  • Spike Shooter: Both Gillan and Gillas have the ability to launch their quills from their backs.

  • Cyborg: It may have the appearance of a Tentacled Terror, but underneath the skin are electrical wiring and various circuitry.
  • Our Monsters Are Weird: Yet another unusual-looking abomination. Its upper is just a spindly frame holding two thick tentacles, with the head on its lower body, supported by stumpy, fleshy legs.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: Combugon's toothy mouth, which is near-busting with its teeth, takes up more than half of its face.

The most iconic foe of the Ultras since the original Ultraman, and also the only alien enemy from the live-action shows to make it in anime form.

  • Kansas City Shuffle: This particular Baltan uses this strategy to infiltrate earth for preparing his invasion, firstly by sending his pet kaiju, Mikonos to go on a rampage, and then set up his base while disguising it as an ordiniary town building. • Killer Gorilla: A giant alien gorilla sent by Baltan to destroy cities, in order to lure Hikari into becoming Ultraman Joneus, and subsequently allowing Baltan to analyze Joneus' fighting patterns and plan a strategy.

  • Master of Illusion: One of Xalome's abilities, where it conjures illusions of himself to distract his enemies and fools them into attacking where he isn't. But it turns out to be an Awesome, but Impractical ability, for this would have the real Xalome be put under a trance.

First appearance: The Flying Monster Island!
Two other kaiju from Ultraman serving the Baladon.(See Ultraman TV Series for tropes relating to their original incarnations.)
  • Art Evolution: Delivered to both monsters, now they have additional spikes, claws, and a different shade of colouring.
  • Mythology Gag: Bringing back Aboras and Banila, side-by-side, is an obvious nod to their debut in the original Ultraman''.
  • Tunnel King: In this series, both monsters can travel underground by digging. This is the only instance in the franchise thus far of them displaying this particular ability.
  • Villain Decay: Both Aboras and Banila are now demoted to Baladon lackeys, and quickly wiped out by Joneus.

Arstron, Ghostron and Gokinezula

Are we sure they're brothers?
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gokinezula.PNG
Sadly, this is the LAST we'll ever see of Gokinezula in the entire franchise.

First appearance: The Flying Monster Island!
Three more kaiju mooks serving the Baladon, this time taken from Return of Ultraman.(See Return of Ultraman for tropes relating to their original incarnations.)
  • Mêlée à Trois: All three of them ends up fighting each other, although before a winner can be decided Red King suddenly pops up and rips all three if them some new, scaly rears.
  • Mythology Gag: It seems fitting that Arstron and Ghostron would appear side-by-side here, since Arstron and Ghostron were made from the same suit, back in Return of Ultraman and were speculated to be related.
  • Villain Decay: Like Aboras and Banila above, they are reduced to mere pawns of the Baladon.

Red King

The resurrected skeleton of a carnivorous dinosaur. Displayed in a museum after being excavated, for some reason the bones started coming to life on their own.
  • Acid Attack: Has the ability to spit acid at its foes.
  • Dem Bones: A walking dinosaur skeleton kaiju, and not the first in the Ultra Series. Nor the last.
  • Expy: A living dinosaur skeleton which can spew acid seems a lot like Stegon from Return of Ultraman, the main difference however being that it's based on a bipedal carnivorous dinosaur instead of a harmless herbivore.
  • Pulling Themselves Together: Blasting Skeldon into pieces wouldn't work, because its bones can reattach themselves on their own. Unless it's drained off energy first, that is.

  • Volumetric Mouth: Gamiba's jaws extends all the way from its face to the abdomen.
  • The Worm That Walks: Its default form is a series of underground-dwelling critters from the planet's core, and can increase their sizes by combining with each other. When the entire Gamiba population combines, it transforms into its massive kaiju form.
  • Zerg Rush: How Gamiba attacks in critter form, but it that doesn't work, then it's fusion time.

  • Yuki Onna: Being an alien woman from a freezing planet, who escaped to earth and living in the Japanese Alps as an urban legend of the mysterious Snow Woman, Noa is clearly based on this particular legend.
