The Hunters

A group of highly skilled prisoners plucked from the penal colony Dorfheim in the Broken Halo, these four anti-heroes were sent into the Far North to recover a deadly bioweapon from the frigid ruins of Miltroval.

    In General

  • Anti-Hero Team: As is standard for a D&D party. None of them are seeking the Lament for noble reasons, but rather to secure their own freedom. Zercis and Helferich are the most pronounced examples - the former is an oathbreaker paladin who serves a God of Evil, while the latter is the exiled strategist for one of the worst tyrants in the history of the Realms.
  • Badass Crew: A team of extremely powerful spellcasters and warriors with few qualms about causing destruction.
  • Boxed Crook: Though not all criminals per se, they are plucked from a brutal penal colony by a mysterious organisation and offered their freedom in exchange for the completion of a very dangerous mission.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: They do not like each other very much at all. Particularly pronounced between Helferich and Tiberius, who spend most of their time trading contemptuous barbs.

    Helferich of the Ironstaff

Helferich of the Ironstaff

Played by: Jack Mackay

Race: High elf
Class: Wizard (War Magic)
Alignment: Neutral evil
Appearances: Hunt for the Lament

A former combat strategist for High King Ceonred of Alagost, Helferich made a catastrophic tactical error that lost him his superior's favour and found him shipped off to Dorfheim as punishment.

  • Badass Bookworm: His main strength is his enormous knowledge, but he is also an adept spellcaster.
  • Glass Cannon: A classic example. He can hit hard with his spells from a distance but when the Miltrovan hunters close the distance he starts to lose them fast.
  • Magic Staff: Wields the Ironstaff, a famous metal stave carved with ancient runes that, alongside being the focus for his spells, can be used to physically wither a target.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: After disappointing his king, Helferich was sent to Dorfheim on what he thought was a guard posting. He ended up as one of the prisoners.
  • The Smart Guy: Has extremely high intellect, all the better for casting spells. Being 563 years old, he's sitting on over five centuries of knowledge. He also used to be one of High King Ceonred's chief advisors with a speciality for war, co-ordinating battle strategy on a national scale.
  • Squishy Wizard: He has the lowest health and AC in the party, although he can make up the latter with mage armour and his War Magic features.

    Jieun Seiche

Jieun Seiche

Race: Fire Genasi
Class: Druid (Circle of Wildfire)
Appearances: Hunt for the Lament

An avid crystal collector who uses plantlife and insects - alongside a natural affinity for fire - to aid her in combat.

  • Elemental Powers: With a particular emphasis on fire, thanks to her elemental heritage and druid circle.
  • Fiery Redhead: Literally. Her hair is bright red, and looks and moves like fire.
  • Friend to All Living Things: She loves plants and insects in particular, keeping them in a portable terrarium that she keeps within a small demiplane. She becomes very irritable when Tiberius accidentally destroys some of her plants.
  • Playing with Fire: As a Wildfire Druid and a fire genasi, most of her abilities rely on fire. She even has a pet wildfire spirit that she calls Calcifer.

    Tiberius Dolorous

Tiberius Dolorous

Played by: Joe Monk

Race: Human
Class: Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline)
Alignment: Chaotic good
Appearances: Hunt for the Lament

A sorcerer whose silver dragon heritage grants him ice-themed power, Tiberius found himself in Dorfheim after his homeland took issue with his rebellious nature.

  • An Ice Person: Somewhere along the line, his bloodline became infused with that of a silver dragon. This heritage grants him resistance to cold and empowers his innate magic with ice.
  • Elemental Powers: In contrast to Jieun, he favours ice and water magic.
  • Rebel Leader: Was this in his homeland, and it cost him his freedom.

    Zercis, Fallen Grace

Zercis

Race: Aasimar (Fallen)
Class: Paladin (Oathbreaker)
Alignment: Neutral evil
Appearances: Hunt for the Lament

A former paladin of Haelion, God of the Sun, who broke his oath when coaxed into worship of the Withered King.

  • Fallen Angel: It's in the name. He was once a being of a higher plane who served the god of the sun, but when he fell to earth he found a new master in the Withered King.
  • The Stoic: Rarely smiles and doesn't give away much in the way of emotion.
