Dylan in his Galar clothes
The main character of all the Nuzlocke Duo comics. Dylan was raised on the streets and eventually adopted by Keira, a contest guru in the Sinnoh region. Inspired by his Champion adopted brother, Steven Stone, Dylan went on adventures all over the world. Cursed as a young boy by a Spiritomb he accidentally awoke, Dylan's main trait is his ability to survive countless Amusing Injuries, as misfortune is drawn to him as if he's a magnet for it. His journeys throughout the world have allowed him to encounter his birth father Cyrus and unlock the truth about his past, meet some of his closest friends, and find his eventual destiny as an International Police agent.

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Dylan can get overly cocky when things are going too well, which will result in him getting some sort of violent comeuppance and coming to his senses
  • Amusing Injuries: Surviving all sorts of amusing injuries is kind of his thing, including but not limited to:
  • Atrocious Alias: Got hired as an International Police secret agent for defeating Team Flare — with his butt. So he’s earned the embarrassing nickname: “Butt Lord”.
  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Dylan is constantly getting electrocuted by his baby Toxel, Kurt, who is the descendant of an evil Gigantamax-Toxtricity that served as Eternatus’s right hand man in the “Darkest Day”
  • Bromance: with Clemont, his roommate from attending university in Kalos, who also functions a Mad Scientist with a focus on experimenting with Dylan's unusual ability to survive anything
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: despite growing up on the streets and having drank from a young age because of this, Dylan gets drunk immediately after a sip of any alcoholic beverage
  • Corrupted Character Copy: Dylan served as a counter to the Gentleman Spy archetype; Dylan has zero gentlemanly traits, is an absolute Manchild with a juvenile sense of humor, and routinely endangers missions due to his lack of any useful skills (beyond asskicking)
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: A defining trope for Dylan. An absolute idiot but when it comes down to it, he's a talented trainer and even a good fighter on his own
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Dylan was a street kid, who drank a lot out of bitterness for the abandonment he faced by his father
  • Determinator: Dylan won't give up, even if all odds are seemingly stacked against him
  • Dork Knight: He's heroic, but also too sweet-natured and sometimes naive for his own good
  • Dumb Muscle: he’s an effective Action Hero willing to jump into any situation and kick ass... but he isn’t too bright
  • Female Gaze: known for his impressive ass, which is popular with the ladies; that is, until his obnoxious personality ruins it
  • Gadget Pants: Dylan's pants are 'Smarty Pants' invented by Clemont, equipped with a variety of trinkets, mostly from the seat of Dylan's pants
    • Butt Cannon: It can shoot lasers from his rear
    • Magnet Butt: allows Dylan's hindquarters to magnetically attach to objects
    • Rocket Shoes: Not connected to his pants, but still a fun gadget, Dylan's shoes can propel him into the air via an expulsion of flames
  • Gasshole: Dylan's favorite punchline to any joke is simply to rip a nasty fart
    • Fartillery: Mixing his farts with flames has created explosions every so-often
  • Godlike Gamer: played on a “Call of Ditto” league called the Pory-Pulverizerz that claimed many wins at tournaments
  • Hates Their Parent: Considering his dad is Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic, who tried to kill him on numerous occasions, you can't really blame him
  • The Hero: He's the protagonist and typically plays up the hero role
  • Heroic Vow: Dylan's initial mission was to protect the prince. He is so devoted that when given orders to use the prince as bait, he argues with his superiors to stand up for his companion and newfound friend
  • Hot-Blooded: And it typically gets him into loads of trouble
  • Iron Butt Monkey: He views himself as the world's punching bag and he is okay with it
  • Jerkass Ball: Generally a nice guy, but he can get cocky and arrogant at points, often at the expense of his companions
  • Jerkwitha Heart Of Gold: Despite Dylan's hotheaded streak and lack of thinking that makes him come across as callous and gets him into heaps of trouble constantly, he handles Paget's admission of attraction and coming out as pansexual so well and shows his utmost and earnest support
  • Long Lost Sibling: His twin brother, Rylan
  • Momma's Boy: Dylan has a sweet relationship with his adoptive mom, Keira, who he states was the "only person who ever believed in him"
  • Multiple Identity IDs: always prepared; mostly because he loves coming up with ridiculous disguise names like “A. Nelprober”
  • Once per Episode: His ability to take a ton of physical damage and shrug it off is displayed at least once per page, if not in multiple instances
  • Papa Wolf: to Kurt, despite him being an heir to an evil ancestor’s throne. Dylan’s past as an orphan drives him to be a fiercely defensive “papa” to Kurt, causing a bond to form
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: anytime Dylan has to go undercover, he puts in the bare minimum effort to disguise himself
  • Separated at Birth: Separated from his twin brother Rylan, in an effort to protect them from their evil father, the genocidal Team Galactic leader Cyrus.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: With Paget. Neither initially believes in the other's abilities, but they grow from it, causing them to become...
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Tacos. Particularly of the puffy variety.
  • You're Not My Type: Of the respectful variety. Paget admits attraction to Dylan. Dylan handles this (mostly) maturely, showing he's flattered but admitting he is heterosexual and not into Paget like that. But he scoffs at the idea of abandoning his friend, showing Dylan's soft side and loyalty to his friends

    Paget

The prince of Galar
The prince of the Galar region who reaches out to the International Police when he believes relics of his family's past — the Rusted Sword and Shield — are being targeted by a "hitman", the mysterious Bede. Paget is a paranoid stoner, but he's also pompous and overly arrogant. He and Dylan are at odds constantly, but learn to befriend one another. Paget eventually develops an attraction to Dylan,

  • Attention Whore: Played for Drama. Team Yell are his biggest fans, but are also in league with Eternatus, so their constant ego boosts can cloud Paget’s judgment since he thrives on the attention.
  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Paget is constantly getting electrocuted by his baby Toxel, Janis, who is the descendant of an evil Gigantamax-Toxtricity that served as Eternatus’s right hand man in the “Darkest Day”
  • Coming-Out Story: Comes out to Dylan as pansexual
  • Cowardly Lion: Starts his journey with a tendency to run away and panic
  • Deal with the Devil: Paget was unaware that he was becoming tied to the baby Toxel twins he discovered in the wreckage of Max Lair after Gigantamax-Toxtricity wreaked havoc
  • Narcissist: Thinks he is the “Beedrill’s knees”, calls lower class people “peasants”
  • Nervous Wreck: Paranoid that someone is after him, so paranoid that he set traps all over the courtyard of his castle
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: puts on glasses and takes off his button up shirt as a disguise during the Isle of Armor arc
  • Proud Peacock: Sees himself above "peasants" such as Dylan
  • Rebel Prince: Dresses more "punk"-ish to rebel against his royal heritage
  • Royal Brat: Paget tries to throw aside his royal heritage until it can gain him something he desires, to which he uses it for his advantage
  • Running Gag: "My lawyers will be hearing about this", or some variation of Paget mentioning he will contact his lawyers about whatever offensive situation is happening
  • Snark Ball: one of Paget’s defining character traits
  • Starboarding: Paget's love for Dylan is unrequited, but Dylan is respectful of Paget's sexuality and feelings regardless
  • The Stoner: Smokes some herbal remedies concocted by his partner Marley (Oddish —> Gloom —> Vileplume) whenever he needs to calm down
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: With Dylan. Neither initially believes in the other's abilities, but they grow from it, causing them to become...
  • Trauma Button: has a dramatic reaction linked with past trauma when he makes the connection that…
    • Tournament Play: …he was on a “Call of Ditto” gaming league…
    • Forgotten First Meeting: …that was defeated brutally in an official tournament by Dylan’s team, the Pory-Pulverizerz
  • Warrior Prince: He's learning to fight and move past his cowardice
