Main Characters

     Henrietta "Hank" Woolsey

Henrietta "Hank" Woolsey

Hank, the protagonist, is a lesbian medical ilustrator and vegetarian who is prone to fainting under stress. Her getting scratched by a werewolf and thus becoming one too starts the plot.
  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: As a human, she doesn't remember what she did as a werewolf.
  • Bad Liar: She admits herself that she sucks at lying.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is very nice, but when she or someone she cares about is threatened, she can turn into a two-meter-werewolf who at one point mauls Murphy.
  • Big Friendly Dog: Well, werewolf. When together with Ada in her werewolf form, Hank is incredibly sweet, making puppy eyes or slobbering Ada's face. All while standing taller than a grown man.
  • Fainting: Hank is a type seven - she faints when faced with great (emotional) stress, such as getting taken hostage and injured by a werewolf or seeing Ada getting impaled.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Her nickname "Hank" is usually applied to guys.
  • Granola Girl: downplayed example. Hank is leftist, a vegetarian, anti-violence, and idealistic enough to nearly always see only the good in people, vampires included.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Hank is nice to the point of worrying about the associate and assistant of a foe, emotionally vulnerable and anti-violence (she also is a vegetarian). Molly and Ada work together to preserve her innocence.
  • The Nose Knows: Some days after becoming a werewolf, Hank's sense of smell become enhanced to the point that she can smell that her bread has gone moldy from her bedroom. Later, she uses her newfound super sense to track Murphy from a cigarette he dropped on the floor.
  • Tomboyish Name: Her name Hank Woolsey does somewhat invoke a hairy, burly male but Hank isn't even tomboyish.
  • Unstoppable Rage: After seeing Sienna nearly decapitating Ada with an axe, Hank shifts from panic to Tranquil Fury, calmly shots Murphy, wolfs out, and turns lose.
    Hank: "You fucking monsters."
     Ada Argyle

Ada Argyle

The webcomic's deuteragonist, a bounty-hunting, weed-selling vampire who saves Hank and takes her under her wing.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Raven-haired Ada is snarky and cool (until provoced) and a loner who dislikes company.
  • Ambiguously Bi: She says she's not gay, but only ever had female love-interests.
  • Bounty Hunter: She hunts down wanted criminals for a living and is as cynical and world-weary as it is expected from somebody with that vocation.
  • Deuteragonist: While the story follows Hank's first days as a werewolf, Ada plays a just as important role, and the story occasionally follows her POV.
  • Healing Factor: She heals the wounds from getting a bolt through the heart (twice), a knife to the chest, and even an axe to the neck- though the later requires for her to drink a generous amount of blood to hasten the process. None of the above leaves a scar. Her blood has healing properties when used on others, too.
  • Game Face: Has one with dagger-like teeth, all-red eyes and contorted features.
  • Good Samaritan: She selflessly helps Hank after the later got scrached by Murphy.
  • Must Be Invited: She cannot enter Hank's home until she is invited in.
  • Knight in Sour Armor: Saves Hank's life and takes her under her wing, which messes with her precious routine, brings her in conflict with various werewolfs and vampires, and leads her in mortal peril more than once. She resents it (initially), yet still does it, and when asked whether she would save Hank knowing what it entails she angrily bites out:
Ada: I'd still save her! I'm not a fucking monster!
  • Super-Strength: At one point, she holds up Sienna, an adult woman, up on the scruff of her T-Shirt with one hand to threaten her.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: She is not happy with being immortal because it makes her lonely.

Antagonists

     Mick Murphy

Mick Murphy

Murphy is an old, born werewolf who has a bounty on his head. When hunted by Ada, he takes Hank hostage and scratches her to distract Ada, thus turning Hank and setting the plot in motion.
  • Asshole Victim: He viciously scratches Hank, an Innocent Bystander, just to provide a distraction to make his getaway. He also cares not one bit about the werewolf he thusly just sired, not even recognising her a few days later. Furthermore, he did something that made him wanted dead or alive with a bounty on his head. At this point, he deserves getting hunted down.
  • Brains and Brawn: In his outfit with Sienna, she is the smarter one, and he is the physically more dangerous one.
  • Domestic Abuser: It is implied that he hits Sienna when he is drunk.
  • Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: He falls firmly on the evil side, smoking cigarettes in bed after just getting up and throwing away a cigarette-stump on the street.
  • Price on Their Head: Due to unknown crimes, the shepherds are willing to pay 45.000 $ to the person who turns Murphy in, be it dead or alive.

     Sienna

Sienna

Sienna is a werewolf who is cohabiting in a run-down motel together with Murphy. The heroines first meet her when hunting down Murphy.
  • Brains and Brawn: Sienna is the brains of the pair who comes up with a plan to find Ada, while Murphy is the more physically dangerous one.
  • The Nose Knows: She tracks down Hank by smell from the place Murphy attacked her some days ago.
  • Parental Abandonment: She claims to have a child, and given her apparent age, it can't be that old... Yet we never see it. It is ambigious whether she really has one or lied about it to get Ada's mercy.
     Miss Chief

Miss Chief

Miss Chief is a vampire on Denver, who was sired by Ada some decades prior. She leads the Hellions, a group of vampires that organise werewolf fighting tournaments.
  • I Hate You, Vampire Dad: To Ada. It's been stringly implied that the two of them used to be lovers. Their contemporary relationship is much less cordial, and Miss Chief resents Ada for breaking her heart.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": She's the leader of the Hellions- and she can't have been christened Miss Chief, can't she?
  • Super-Speed: after entering Lendfire's cell, barely one second passses until Miss Chief has him pinned against the wall.
  • Vampires Own Nightclubs: Well, owns an illegal fighting ring for creatures of the night called "The Pit".
    Gustav von Heiden

Gustav von Heiden

Ada's sire, an old and rich vampire who has a special interest for his erstwhile scion...
    Lendfire

Lendfire

Von Heiden's not to bright henchman and renfield, tasked with stalking Ada.
  • The Renfield: Gustav von Heiden's loyal servant.
  • Significant Anagram: His name is an anagram for Renfield, and he fits it perfectly.
  • Vampire Vannabe: His reason for working for von Heiden is the hope to be made into a vampire one day.
