The Mario Family
Mario:
- Action Hero: In videos not centered around him, he still always manages to show up and save the day.
- Big Eater: Perhaps a Fatal Flaw. In Mario and Luigi Turn Into Babies, he's coerced into going to the festival by the promise of pasta.
- Character Catchphrase: Before he beats the bad guy, he will commonly say "It's-a me, a-Mario!"
- Funny Foreigner: Mostly subverted. He no longer has his thick Italian accent, and the only reminder the series offers is his obsession with pasta.
- Heroic Sacrifice: He pulls one in Jr's Sickness by jumping in front of Kamek's spell, but doesn't actually die.
- Playing with Fire: He shoots fireballs to defeat Wario and Waluigi at the end of Valentine's Day.
- Trademark Favorite Food: He loves pasta.
- Verbal Tic: Like Funny Foreigner above, he drops his tendency to add "a-" to words, except with his catchphrase, as is seen above.
Luigi:
- Cloud Cuckoolander: In Babies, he's definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: In Babies, when he drops his dumbness to step up and battle Devil.
- Depending on the Writer: Luigi is the smartest man in the room or the dumbest, and it all depends if the video he's in is by Teddy or Matthew.
- Simpleton Voice: In Babies, he has a low and monotone voice to reflect his personality.
- Trademark Favorite Food: In Babies, he loves Taco Bell.
Wario:
- Adaptational Dumbass: While not exceedingly smart in-game, he is at least cunning and good with money. In this series, he's more of The Ditz.
- Fat and Skinny: The Fat to Waluigi's Skinny.
- Large Ham: He is one of the hammiest characters in this already over-the-top series.
- Hidden Depths: He can apparently pause time, as revealed in Valentine's Day and never acknowledged again.
Waluigi:
- Adaptational Intelligence: While in the games he was more of The Dragon, in this series he's more of a chessmaster who gets held down by Wario all the time.
- Fat and Skinny: The Skinny to Wario's Fat.
- Only Sane Man: The Straight Man to Wario.
- Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: He has an incredibly inconsistent voice in Teddy's videos.
The Bowser Family
Bowser:
- Dynamic Entry: He knocks Bowser Jr. over with one of these in The Hoverboard.
- Good Parents: He's a pretty good dad to Bowser Jr.
- Papa Wolf: He is this to Jr., if Jr's Sickness is any indication.
- Skewed Priorities: He brushes off Iggy and Wendy's fight in Iggy's Alexa like it's a common occurrence. Admittedly, it probably is.
Bowser Jr:
- Ambiguously Related: In the games, he most likely isn't related to the other Koopalings, but in this series, he has a more brotherly attitude with them.
- Bratty Half-Pint: Subverted. He is very distinctly this in the games, but in this series, he's just a normal teenager.
- The Generic Guy: Likely to balance out the personalities of the other Koopalings. With Larry.
- Idiot Ball: He's a pretty smart kid, but some of the methods he uses to get rid of his stain are completely illogical.
Larry:
- Delicate and Sickly: Downplayed and zig-zagged: Larry is pretty sick to the point that he's bedridden, but he's not on the brink of death, and he's not delicate.
- The Generic Guy: Likely to balance out the personalities of the other Koopalings. With Bowser Jr.
- Healing Magic Is the Hardest: He is unable to use his magic to heal himself.
Lemmy:
- Keet: Like his appearances in the Mario games.
- Nice Guy: He just wants everyone to get along.
- The Pollyanna: He remains a positive attitude in the emergency meeting.
Iggy:
- The Friend No One Likes: He is the most hated Koopaling, and completely blind to it.
- Inopportune Voice Cracking: Yeah.
Wendy:
- Phoneaholic Teenager: As is typical for portrayals of her.
- Pink Means Feminine: Her outfit, like the games, heavily features pink.
Roy:
- Dumb Jock: He certainly has the energy to be one.
- Real Men Wear Pink: He's very manly, but still has pink glasses and a pink shell.
- Simpleton Voice: His voice is fairly low and simple.
Morton:
- Jerkass: Compared to other appearances on either Teddy or Matthew's channel, this interpretation is a lot meaner.
- Verbal Tic: He says "mayun" in pretty much every sentence.
Ludwig:
- Einstein Hair: His hair is big and poofy in a way that parallels Beethoven.
- Stereotypical Nerd: Yup.
- Unexplained Accent: He has a British accent, sort of, which is strange considering the rest of the family has American accents.
- The Von Trope Family: His full name is Ludwig von Koopa.
Others
Kamek:
- The Dragon: To Bowser. Eventually though, he leaves.
- FaceāHeel Turn: In Jr's Sickness, he undergoes one after he learns Bowser lost his wand.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: He is defeated by his own wand.
- Inopportune Voice Cracking: In Matthew's videos, at least.
- It Was There the Whole Time: Said basically word for word after finding his wand was, in fact, there the whole time.
Peach:
- Damsel in Distress: An interesting example with Valentine's Day, where she is technically an example of this trope while being in love with the antagonists.
- Dude Magnet: She gains the affection of Mario, obviously, but in Valentine's Day, Wario and Waluigi both become attracted to her.
- Idiot Ball: In Valentine's Day, she clearly notices her drink is way murkier and different and still drinks it. Even if it hadn't been spiked, it could still give her a disease.
Baby Peach:
- Creepy Child: And how!
- Shoot the Messenger: She attacks Kamek, even though Wario and Waluigi were the ones who spiked the love potion. This is justified, though, because it's the only way to reverse the effects of the potion.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Not to be redundant, but and how!!
Shrek:
- Police Are Useless: He is of no help to Jr. or Larry during his brief appearance. Though it's unclear whether he's actually a cop or not.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: His fate after being kidnapped is not revealed.
Alexa:
- Machine Monotone: Naturally.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The part where it's possessed is one of the most chilling moments in the series.
- Surprisingly Creepy Moment: More like Surprisingly Creepy Character. Certain moments can have you going "wait... this is in a Mario parody?"
