Milly Yunis

some caption text
Voiced by: Sakura Shinfuku (Japanese), Hayden Daviau (English)
Yuna's sister and Touka's childhood friend, a Sword Maiden who wields the artificial Holy Sword Durandal. Milly became a hero in order to raise funds to rebuild the ruined Elbania.
  • Everyone's Baby Sister: To her chagrin, Touka has never seen her as anything more than Yuna's little sister and a childhood friend in spite of her wishes otherwise.
  • Loving Bully: She made Touka swear to marry her if she defeated him 100 times when they were young. She then dedicated the time henceforth to beat the crap out of him every time they met.
  • The Unchosen One: She wields one of the artificial Holy Swords, Durandal. While incapable of sealing Hell's Gate, the sword enables her to kill demons on the level of the Four Dukes or a Demon Lord.

    Fieri Yunis

Fieri Yunis

Yuna and Milly's father, who is a master hand-to-hand combatant. A former Yonkishi of the Farom Kingdom, he has a penchant for groping women.
  • Boxing Battler: Specifically uses his own Yunis Boxing Style special attacks. Fighting with his bare hands makes it easier to grope female opponents after all.
  • Bowdlerize: The anime tones down his harassment considerably. While he ogles and attempts to grope any pair of boobs he finds, he doesn't get to actually touch them, as much as he tries. He doesn't bother grabbing Yuna's breasts at all during his debut.
  • Hypocrite: He and Touka are at each other's throats for enjoying a particular fetish, though they themselves have their own.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Fieri is prone to trying to molest any woman with large breasts, including his own daughters and only vaguely humanoid demons. He's always treated as creepy, but mostly harmless.
  • Red Baron: Was formerly one of Farom's Yonkishi, or Four Horsemen.

    Shannon Petrarca

Shannon Petrarca

A fidgety magician and healer for Milly's party. He is the son of a former servant of the Yunis family and grew up with Yuna and Milly back in Elbania, this being the reason he looks and acts like a girl.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Touka originally thought that Shannon was a girl and is furious that Yuna was keeping such a beautiful girl secret from him.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: He's regularly forgotten, a trait regularly brought up in various Omake.

    Dorothy Eleonora

Dorothy Elenora

An exceedingly powerful and adept magician, and former companion of Shion, who has chronic somnolence.
  • Artificial Human: She is a magically engineered humanoid created by Nicola and Ripley from the mortal remains of Dorothy, Ripley's pet cat.
  • Sleepwalking: Dorothy is almost always asleep regardless of what is going on, but is able to simulate everything going on around her to some degree of accuracy allowing her to function regardless.

Other Allies

    Thera Carmen

Thera Carmen

The Kingdom of Farom's Yonshiki (the Captain of Knights), Thera is considered to be one of the greatest swordswomen in Farom. Unbendingly loyal and by-the-book, she disapproves of Touka's pervertedness, but eventually becomes one of his most reliable allies.
  • Defector from Decadence: Unlike Gilford and Azelstein, Thera's loyalty is to the people and abandons her role as one of Farom's Yonkishi after learning the truth.
  • Happily Married: In Land of the Gods, she is married to Colin.
  • Love Interest: To Colin, having fallen in love with him through the course of their adventure.
  • Marshmallow Hell: Accidentally ends up giving one to Touka, catching his severed skeletal head in between her breasts after Isaac punts it.
  • Ninja Log: She learned the Empty Exuvia technique from Isaac, who was promptly arrested for public nudity, and used it once to get Fieri fired as people assumed his usual behavior ended up going to the extreme of stripping a woman in the middle of a duel.
  • Red Baron: Currently serves as one of Farom's Yonkishi and is also known as the Lightning Sword.
  • Shock and Awe: Her primary method of fighting, hence the title of Lightning Sword.
  • Tsundere: She gets incredibly bashful when Neigan says that she'd been personally caring for Colin during his week long coma, insisting that she was only doing it out of concern for her subordinate's health while avoiding eye contact and blushing.

    Blake the Twin Spear

Blake the Twin Spear / Blakal "Blake" Roselia

Voiced by: Wataru Hatano (Japanese)
A famous adventurer and fighter, Blake is known to have slain "100 four Dukes" and is prone to being given credit for accomplishments he didn't do. In reality, Blake is an altogether terrible warrior and an incredibly unreliable companion known for his deadpan delivery and unwarranted airs of importance.
  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: After the defeat of King Larkvlad, he unites the Kingdoms of Farom and Roselia and becomes its king after Margaret abdicates herself and runs an orphanage alongside Isaac.
  • Cassandra Truth: Try as he might, he can't even get more than a couple words of this in attempting to set the record straight regarding his Memetic Badass state.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: He has a rather odd mindset since after his attempt with an alliance with Kyle failed, he allied himself with a crab.
  • Dramatic High Perching: He is often seen looking down on a battle from some high place because he feels destiny demands a hero's entrance be from up high. Either he ends up just staying up there or jumping down and injuring his legs so that he can no longer provide assistance properly. Even outside of battle he will almost always be seen standing on something abnormally placed just to be higher than others.
  • Foil: to Kyle. Blake is an incompetent warrior who is known for his deadpan delivery but is renowned as a great warrior who managed to kill 100 Four Dukes. While, Kyle actually fought the 4 Dukes and is on the Hero's party but his death leads him to have further developed his A God Am I attitude since childhood even further and wants to take over his dead body (at least until Kyle's Character Development kicks in). But they have the same Cloud Cuckoolander tendencies, didn't take seriously by Touka and his party and formed a Friendly Rivalry which culminates in building their own statues built by their followers in the last chapter.
  • I Owe You My Life: He was once saved by Shion, which causes him to try and become a hero like him.
  • Memetic Badass: In-Universe as much as out. Introduced as a powerful adventurer who's slain over one hundred demons, his alleged victories have only escalated to the point where people believe he has killed over one hundred Four Dukes. The impossibility of it quickly waved away as him having personally cloned the four up to that number for the challenge.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Touka's group are just about the only people who don't see Blake as a Memetic Badass, having witnessed him getting bested by a mid ranked demon effortlessly. Instead he's all but ignored as a potential combatant in Moalan, even when they would include Mayor Burns in their calculations of how things can go.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: When challenging Berhard to a duel he suddenly breaks into rhyming for a bit.
Blake: "So prepare for a severe tear in the rear by my twin-spear..."
  • The Wise Prince: Despite having no memory of being a prince, learning of Berhard's actions is enough to motivate him to head for Arad and put a stop to things.

    Colin Brad

Colin Brad

A young ruffian and con-man who is a cousin of Kyle, he grows up resentful of the world due to being compared with his overachieving cousin. Capable of creating electrically-charged decoys that resemble himself, and is known to swindle adventurers and due to his nihilistic views. He met Neigan at an adventurers guild after trying to prank him. Often at odds with Touka's party due to his antagonism, Colin eventually becomes their ally.
  • Bequeathed Power: He gives Touka his enchanted needles and mana crystals after being bitten by a zombie, in hopes that Touka can use them to reverse the curse before it's too late.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Shoves Thera out of the way, taking a direct attack from Larkvlad's zombie. He manages to remind her that a knight serves their country's people, not a king, before falling into a brief coma due to his injuries.
  • Happily Married: In Land of the Gods, he is married to Thera.
  • Love Interest: He's Thera's, who falls in love with him due to their adventures together.
  • Ninja Log: Colin is unique in that he doesn't use Empty Exuvia. Instead he leaves behind an electrical copy of himself that explodes, electrocuting whoever was unfortunate enough to try attacking him.
  • Only Sane Man: When traveling with Blake he's the only one to see past the Memetic Badass, much like Touka's group. Meeting up with Yuna and the others in Arad, and hearing her criticize people's excessive faith in Blake, is enough to bring him to tears for finally having someone normal around again.
  • Shock and Awe: He uses an electrical mana crystal much like Thera does. However where hers creates a blade of electricity, his just blasts a wide area randomly unless guided by enchanted needles.
  • Troll: He's quite open about enjoying deceiving people, gaining pleasure from seeing their reactions when they realize they've been betrayed. He gets better about it after Moalan.
  • The Un-Favorite: His mother would beat him for not living up to standards set by his cousin Kyle. The abuse drove him to go out of his way to deceive everyone about anything, reasoning that if the rest of the world is nothing but fools he must be incredibly talented himself.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: When Blake ends up injured the rest of the group tries to find a way to pay for recovery magic. He and Thera end up working as pole dancers and "Colin-chan" ends up being declared the most beautiful girl the audience had ever seen. They both agree to never speak of it again to spare both of their prides.

    Neigan Bourne

Neigan Bourne

Neigan is a tall and intimidating man who is Colin's constant companion. Known for his rough looks ever since he was born, Neigan becomes Colin's companion due to being pranked by him into talking to the woman of a notoriously violent adventurer, earning Colin his gratitude due to the fact that he's never been able to talk to a woman. Kind and lonely, Neigan tends to bring Colin's better nature in spite of his nihilism.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: He is extremely shy around women, partially due to insecurity over his looks. Colin tricking him into talking with Diane prompts him to start following Colin around out of gratitude as, despite getting beaten by Fushios the incident proved to be a first step in overcoming this. He eventually outrgrowed it in Land of the Gods till the point he has a whole harem of them waiting for him everyday.
  • Face of a Thug: He was born with a naturally aggressive looking face and his pet cat scarring him only made it worse.
  • Gentle Giant: He'd like to be, but people's reactions to his face drive him into shadier work. He jumps at the chance to turn his life around the instant Moalan's zombie outbreak gives him the opportunity to be a hero.
  • Nice Guy: He's a sweetheart.

    Rito Bladedarts

Rido Bladedarts

Shion's grandfather, a perverted, nearly-blind old man who works as a blacksmith.
  • Dirty Old Man: Immediately goes out of his way to sexually harass any women nearby, then attempts to play it off as being senile.

    Famria

Famria, Goddess of War

The head goddess of Arad, Famria led the Heavenly Host who lost against the demons and the Necromancers 1000 years before the current era. Having succumbed to the war, Famria now resides in the Realm of the Holy Sword.
  • Big Good: Grants Touka a temporary mana level of 10, essentially enabling Shion to be constantly reanimated inside Touka's body. Allowing the two to work together to put an end to the Necromancers' rule.
  • Not Quite Dead: She still resides within the Realm of the Holy Sword, despite otherwise being killed off long ago. She implies that the other gods are similarly present.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Moved by Touka and Shion's friendship and resolve to become true heroes, she grants Touka .01% of her power despite the other gods saying that they should not interfere with human affairs.

Adventurers

    Rob Barbarin

Rob Barbarin

An adventurer who always wears a horned helmet. He is a follower of Blake in the interest of appropriating his twin spears to wear on his helmet.
  • Rite of Passage: His reason for following Blake is to find a chance to steal his spears and use them as the horns on his helmet, as his tribe sends its children out to find the greatest horns they can which will then determine their rank as adults. Rob believes Blake's spears would easily place him at the top of the tribe, in a near god like position.
  • Satellite Character: Rob basically exists just to follow Blake around and hype him up. He's disposed of immediately after getting any characterization beyond that.
  • Too Dumb to Live: He finally makes his move on Blake's spears in the middle of a Zombie Apocalypse. He gets attacked for it and has not been seen since.

    Pete Yablakan

Pete Yablakan

An adventurer and con man, Pete is a swindler who gets rid of adventurers and heroes who intend to close the hell gate because it would cripple business in Arad.
  • Due to the Dead: When Thera calls for all those who fell in the battle at Hell's Gate have their heads destroyed, Pete can be seen lamenting that they're not even being allowed to mourn their fallen friends. The alternative is, unfortunately, to leave them to be turned into zombies.
  • Fat Bastard: Pete was originally quite fat, and his weight loss happens just before siding with Touka honestly.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Apples and kindness. Specifically crushing people who trust him with suddenly massive apples.
Pete: "My motto is to treat everyone with kindness! Because through kindness, trust is obtained. Once you have their trust, their lives are as good as yours!"
  • Meaningful Name: Yablaka is Russian for apple.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: After dropping his weight this would be the most apt description for Pete.

    Sharif Zanga

Sharif Zanga

A towering adventurer, Sharik wears an armor that heightens the offensive and defensive capabilities of equipment. He is unjustly labeled as a pervert by Touka.
  • Hulking Out: His mana crystal allows him to enhance his equipment, and doing so causes him to appear much larger. It's noted that the change in appearance is only cosmetic and that all the power is actually in the person's weapons, armor, and clothes.
  • Lightning Bruiser: His strengthened state is noted to be abnormally fast and powerful, as well as resistant to magical attacks. While Anri, through the use of a demon, Yuna, and Rexboz are able to push him around or subdue him the only character who has actually visibly damaged him in that state is Larkvlad through the use of a mere zombie.
  • Red Baron: When Pete is naming off notable guild members, he calls Sharif "Sharif Zanga the Black Knight" and notes that he'll even turn on other adventurers for the right price.
  • Spikes of Villainy: His mana crystal puts these on just about everything, even cloth, as shown when Margaret and Yuna use it.
  • Undying Loyalty: Toward Touka after learning that he killed Shion and took his body. He doesn't buy the story that it was an accident, fully believing Touka to be an even more evil person than himself and thus worth serving.
    • Diana showing up shortly after and smothering Touka with her thighs does little to help Touka's attempt at setting the record straight. Figuring that he even went as far as to "make the strongest Necromancer his woman" Sharif declares Touka his idol.
    • This eventually spreads to the others, declaring themselves no longer just adventurers but "part of Touka's evil organization".

    Speedy Verga

Speedy Verga

A portly adventurer and a partner of Sharif.
  • Acrofatic: His legs are actually transplanted demon legs, granting him greatly increased speed despite his size.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Almia notes that they can only assume the worst for the adventurers that did not escape on the flying fortress. While Verga was not directly present for Larkvlad's attack at Hell's Gate, having not been seen since Margaret incapacitated him, he would still have been in the general area when it happened and is not shown among the survivors.

    Looter Fushios

Looter Fushios

A clownish adventurer who has a mana crystal that can make him revive 3 times a day. He is another partner of Sharif.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Almia notes that they can only assume the worst for Fushios, and the other adventurers that did not escape on the flying fortress. Whether or not he's dead, and if he is what became of his uniquely powerful crystal, has yet to be confirmed. It later turned out he managed to fake his death with his mana crystal and lend it to Leonard to survive Larkvlad's assault.
  • Four Is Death: He possesses a mana crystal which will revive him up to three times a day, meaning he must be killed four times before it can stick. He dies twice in the process of explaining this. The third was used to survive Larkvlad's assault.

    Diane Gizmin

Diane Gizmin

An adventurer with a penchant for bikinis, she is the reason Colin and Neigan become friends.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: Her body is seen among the dead following Larkvlad's attack at Hell's Gate.
  • Ms. Fanservice: It's spelled out the instant she's introduced. The usual name and occupation box that accompanies new characters simply informs readers that she is an adventurer and swimsuit collector. That's all she's ever seen wearing.
  • Satellite Character: She's basically there to do three things: Be used by Colin in a prank on Neigan, be Fushios' girlfriend, and to stand around in nothing but a tiny swimsuit.
  • Love at First Punch: Falls madly in love with Touka after he humiliates and petrifies her.

    Almia the Puppeteer

Almia the Puppeteer

A somber and prim girl adventurer, she uses puppets to attack.
  • Adventurer Archaeologist: Identifies the "treasury" at Arad as actually being a temple dedicated to the war goddess Famria, and provides some explanation on the history when asked about it.
  • Marionette Master: She fights using an armed giant stuffed bunny, and is shown to be capable of holding her own against demons this way.

    Relay Man

Relay Man

An adventurer tasked with conveying the conversations between Touka and Yuna at the Arad Labyrinth after the latter is captured by the forces of Roselia.
  • Action Survivor: Despite having no apparent capacity for combat, he manages to survive the battle at Hell's Gate. And is promptly put in charge of one region among a continent wide simultaneous strike against the Necromancers.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Relay Man's actual name is unknown. Even on Touka's map detailing who will be attacking where, he's simply "Relay Man".
  • Mission Control: He serves this function by simply restating what he hears through his communication bracelets. Their range is limited so he is placed centrally so he can relay what is happening on either end. He's actually disappointed he doesn't have to do this anymore since the new communication bracelets can communicate through longer distances.
