     Quen Hanson

Security expert and bodyguard of Kal and later Trent Kalamack. Lover of Ceri and father of Ray. He appears in the main series as well as the prequel. He is one of Trisk's best friends.

  • Action Dad: After Ray's birth he still kicks ass.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: He is Trent's bodyguard and is quiet, subtle, and very deadly, either with magic or with hand-to-hand combat.
  • Parental Substitute: Serves as a father figure to Trent and eventually to Rachel as well.

     Ellasbeth Withon

Dr. Ellasbeth Withon

Trent's fiancée and mother of Lucy. She comes from a wealthy and influential West Coast elven family and is a nuclear transplant engineer and university professor.

  • Arranged Marriage/Altar Diplomacy: Her marriage with Trent was supposed to unite the East and West Coast elves and so is more of a political deal than a marriage. She and Trent don't like each other very much and have a relatively tense relationship. Trent ultimately breaks off his engagement with Ellasbeth to be with Rachel.
  • Mama Bear: While they may not like her very much both Trent and Rachel admit if she had one redeeming quality it is how fiercely protective and loving she is to Lucy and Ray both.
  • Our Elves Are Different: Like Trent, Quen, Jonathan, and Ceri, she is an elf.

     Jonathan

Jonathan Davaros

Trent's third in command and sometimes bodyguard and driver. He and Rachel hate each other.

  • Black Magic: Although he is rarely shown using magic, he prefers black spells.
  • Karmic Transformation: As punishment for trying to kill Rachel, Trent has Quen turn him into a dog at one point.
  • Our Elves Are Different: He is an elf, and taller and more dark-complexioned than many others.
  • Sadist: He repeatedly torments Rachel while she's trapped in a cage in mink form, and in general appears to enjoy torture and interrogating prisoners.

     Lee

Stanley Saladan

A powerful ley line magic practitioner witch-born demon. and a friend of Trent's.

  • The Bully: He was Trent's childhood bully, who beat and tormented him for years, until Rachel convinced Trent to stand up to him. Trent did so by trapping him in a well for several days.
  • Happily Married

     Nina

Ninotcha Romana "Nina" Ledesma

A vampire who works at a Cincinnati DMV who is drawn into the events of the series and eventually becomes Ivy's girlfriend.

  • Break the Cutie: Her role as Felix's mouthpiece causes her to lose control at various points and suffer a great deal.
    • At one point she gets so caught up in Felix's bloodlust that she accidentally kills a man.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She is incredibly jealous of Ivy's (platonic) relationship with Rachel.
  • Lesbian Vampire
  • The Power of Love: Ivy's love for her saves her life and her soul.
  • Thrill Seeker: She loves skydiving and the like.

     Dr. Trisk Cambri

Dr. Felecia Eloytrisk "Trisk" Cambri Kalamack

A brilliant geneticist, one of the best in her generation. Developer of the T4 Angel tomato, although The Turn is very much not her fault. Eventual wife of Kal and mother of Trent. She is a main character in The Turn: The Hollows Begins With Death but dies before the main series starts and is occasionally only mentioned there.

  • All of the Other Reindeer: She is tormented and bullied well into adulthood because she is a dark elf, which is to say dark-haired and dark-eyed rather than blonde and green-eyed like most of the rest of her species.
  • Law of Inverse Fertility: She gets pregnant following a one-night stand with someone she didn't realize she was genetically compatible with; she is also a member of a species that has a great deal of trouble conceiving.
  • Our Elves Are Different: She is an elf.
  • Pregnant Badass: After Kal gets her pregnant, she makes her way halfway across the U.S. in the middle of a massive pandemic, kicking ass all the way.]]

     Dr. Kal Kalamack

Dr. Trenton Lee "Kal" Kalamack

An elven geneticist from an old, wealthy family. Eventual husband of Trisk and father of Trent, as well as of two other children who do not survive to adulthood. While a main character in The Turn: The Hollows Begins With Death, he dies in the interim and is only mentioned in the main series.

  • The Bully: He tormented Trisk all through their childhood and through college and graduate school, all because she was a dark elf from a poor, lesser-known family. Some of what he did was downright cruel.
  • Fairy Companion: Well, pixy companion. Orchid the pixy serves as his confidant and essentially his only friend.
  • Law of Inverse Fertility: He gets Trisk pregnant after a one-night stand. Elves have a great deal of trouble conceiving so it was very unexpected.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He is ultimately responsible for The Turn, which is to say a plague that wiped out a huge portion of humanity and led to all of the Inderland species coming out of the closet. The fact that his motivation was essentially professional jealously doesn't make it a whole lot better.
  • Our Elves Are Different: He is an elf, and dedicated to saving his species, although he does not always do so in the most ethical of ways.

    Erica Randal

Erica Randal

Ivy Tamwood's sister. Even though she has a different surname as Ivy, she is not Ivy's half-sister. To continue each parent's line, Ivy was given their mother's surname and Erica was given their father's.

  • Perky Goth
  • Morality Pet: To her sister, Ivy. While she is a minor character in the series, she is very important to her sister.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Light and bubbly in contrast to her sister.
