    Rhea

  • Framing Device: The story as a whole is told by the various members of the Rising Sun Company to Rhea.
  • Irony: She only managed to (sort of) resurrect Sothis after she had decided to give up on trying, and had used Sothis's Crest Stone for an unrelated purpose (namely, saving baby Byleth's life).
  • Like a Son to Me: Cyril tells her in the prologue that he thinks of her as a mother. She realizes that she thinks of him as a son as well.
  • My Greatest Failure: Not telling Jeralt the truth about Byleth's birth, and making him distrust her. She deeply regrets that decision, and agrees to tell him the truth when he asks it of her (though she puts it off for a couple of days because of more urgent matters).
  • Poor Communication Kills: When Rhea tells him the truth about Byleth’s birth, Jeralt tells her that if she had told him the truth when it happened instead of being cagey, he wouldn’t have left Garreg Mach.

    Seteth

  • Beleaguered Assistant: He's Rhea's right-hand man. It's an exhausting job.
  • Not So Above It All: He gets mad at Claude for building up the Stalfos as a serious threat, then not elaborating on them for more than a few sentences. Then again, he is an author.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When Rhea reveals the true about Sitri's creation and Byleth's birth, Seteth is clearly horrified and makes it clear that he never wants her to try something like that again.

    Jeralt

  • The Alcoholic: Like in the game, he has a fondness for liquor. He can’t actually get drunk from it anymore, but he enjoys the taste.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: He doesn't question most aspects of Hyrule, but armor that can enable the wearer to swim up a waterfall is more than he can accept.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While Jeralt is initially afraid to be around Rhea, he chooses to help her try to find the missing students anyway because he can't bring himself to leave children in potential danger.

    Byleth

  • Emotionless Girl: Jeralt notes that just spending a few days at Garreg Mach has led to Byleth showing much more emotion than is typical of her.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Defied. Byleth believes that telling Rhea the truth about Sothis will help them avoid a lot of trouble. Sothis agrees to go along with it, and they inform Rhea of all the relevant facts about Byleth and Sothis’s situation.

    Monica von Ochs

  • The Dog Bites Back: She and Hubert torture Solon to death, some time after Solon had tortured her.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Jeralt's mercenaries found her while searching for the missing students.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: To say she's unhappy at seeing Kronya again is an understatement. However, after Kronya helps her get revenge on Solon for kidnapping and torturing her, Monica decides to... not forgive Kronya, but at least leave her be.

    Lord Lonato

    Gilbert Pronislav

    Hanneman von Essar

  • Poor Communication Kills: Subverted. A lot of trouble ends up being avoided because Rhea tells him she approves of his goals for his Crest research.
  • Secret-Keeper: When Rhea reveals the true origin of Crests to him, he recognizes that nothing good can come from that knowledge becoming public, and agrees to keep her secret.
