C.L.A.D.E.

    General Tropes

    Sam Snow

Portrayed by: Shash Hira

A male snow leopard and Kit's partner.
  • Butt-Monkey: He gets into far more comedic scenarios that Kit does.
  • Brits Love Tea: Sam has a British accent and will go into ridiculous detail about proper teatime etiquette, and even carries an entire tea set with him on his travels.
  • Cats Hate Water: A fact that the series gleefully exploits at his expense.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Sam doesn't actually invent any gadgets, but he is the most tech-savvy of the two and tends to geek out the most whenever the Stinkwells create a new invention.
  • Great Detective: Sam is far behind Kit on animal facts, but he is far and away the better detective between the two.
  • Neat Freak: He doesn't take to messy areas or objects, which tends to lead to conflict with Kit.
  • Panthera Awesome: A snow leopard detective competent in his field.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Kit's red (fittingly, considering the natural climates of their species in real life).

    Kit Casey

Portrayed by: Nneka Okoye

A female kit fox and Sam's partner.
  • Big Eater: If she's given the chance to try something new, she'll dive right in and clean her plate.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: She enjoys popcorn with enough salt to make a visible pile and ate a slice of birthday cake with a pickle placed on top.
  • Genki Girl: There is little that keeps her downcast.
  • Great Detective: While she's not at Sam's level when it comes to the standard detective skills, Kit makes up for it by being the animal expert of the duo; she is in charge of listing the facts and characteristics of any animals the pair find on a case.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Sam's blue (fittingly, considering the natural climates of their species in real life).
  • Trash of the Titans: She isn't a complete slob, but one of Sam's biggest peeves when it comes to working with Kit is that she is horrendously disorganized outside of a case.

    Director Peggy Scratch

Portrayed by: Teresa Gallagher

A female chicken and the current director of C.L.A.D.E.
  • The Comically Serious: One of her default demeanors.
  • The Commissioner Gordon: She's the one Sam and Kit get their cases from.
  • Furry Reminder: She squawks and clucks as her typical Verbal Tic.
  • Hidden Depths: She is an excellent bowler, a relatively good baker, and is generally pleasant to be around despite her stoic first impression.
  • Last-Name Basis: The characters only refer to her by her position and surname; her first name is only uttered when read on past documentation.
  • Not So Stoic: Half of her screentime is used to convey her goofy side as a contrast to her business side.

    Hans & Haorld Stinkwell

Portrayed by:

Two skunk brothers who work for C.L.A.D.E. as their mechanical experts.
  • Furry Reminder: Though it's mainly due to their scent more than anything else.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Both of them are excellent mechanics and inventors.
  • Gasshole: At least one of the brothers will fart if they appear outside of a silent cameo.
  • Smelly Skunk: A gag that the show uses often, but in a surprisingly refrained and tasteful manner.
  • Those Two Guys: You almost never see either of the Stinkwell brothers without one another.

    Bill and Jill

Portrayed by:

A pair of mice collectively known as "The Mice Squad" who work for C.L.A.D.E. as their field scouts. Their job is to report any potential cases for the agents to solve, and they also have a side job in making music.
  • Dreadful Musician: Subverted; the Mice Squad are famous for their music outside of their work at C.L.A.D.E.
  • Those Two Guys: Like the Stinkwells, you rarely see Bill without Jill or the other way around.

    Wally Bungler

Portrayed by: Rob Rackstraw

A flying squirrel and self-proclaimed "nature ranger" who Sam and Kit often encounter when solving a case.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: His mother always calls him on a regular basis over his radio. Unfortunately, she has some of the worst possible timing when it comes to said calls, as it often comes after his latest attempt to look cool or when the group are trying to be stealthy, the latter of which tends to annoy Sam and Kit over everything else.
  • Awesome Aussie: Wally speaks with an Australian accent and is genuinely someone who wants to do good, but it's downplayed on the awesome part due to most of his scenes involving some form of comedy.
  • Bumbling Sidekick: Most of Wally's involvements with Sam and Kit have him playing second fiddle to the C.L.A.D.E. agents due to generally being more incompetent than either of the two. Despite this, he always pulls his weight and both Sam and Kit have found his ability to glide to be a big help whenever he shows up.
  • Heroic Wannabe: Downplayed; Wally tends to play himself as a superhero-type figure, and he is genuinely willing and able to do good deeds. The only problem is that he isn't anywhere near as superb as he thinks he is, and when placed next to Sam and Kit his downfalls are much more apparent.
  • Momma's Boy: He genuinely cares about his mother despite her constant interruptions.
  • Recurring Extra: Wally doesn't appear in every episode, only appearing sporadically throughout each of the show's seasons.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: He's a little overconfident in his own personal abilities, especially compared to Sam and Kit. This is downplayed, however, as despite all that Wally is actually decent at his job and generally humble, above all caring more about others than himself.
