Law Enforcement

    Wilcox

Det. Martin Wilcox

Played By: Michael Kostroff

A Detective investigating the DC harbormaster's disappearance after he came into contact with a restrained Tom Keen.

  • Hero Antagonist: Due to his investigations, he comes into conflict with Liz, but he's just trying to do his job.
  • Nice Guy: He's shown to be a very charitable person.

    Gale

Julian Gale

Played By: Enrique Murciano

An FBI agent who was asked to return for an investigation into the 86 bodies found in an ice rink. He used to be Donald Ressler’s teammate when the Bureau was still hunting Reddington.

  • Awesome by Analysis: By reconstructing an old crime scene, he discovers fingerprints that forensics first missed.
  • Cassandra Truth: On the other end, when Ressler tries to tell him the truth, twice. Both times Gale laughs it off.
  • Cool Shades: His first scene is inside an indoor skating rink, and he still wears those.
  • Cooperation Gambit: He knows Elizabeth Keen, someone who once went on the run with Reddington, likely won’t help him but he’s banking on her feeling guilty when she sees the bodies.
  • Enemy Mine: Once he realizes Ressler won’t help him take down Reddington, he accepts Mr. Kaplan’s help.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Gale admits he was wrong about Reddington and Keen, because it was Reddington and Ressler, who also represented the FBI. Basically, he accuses Ressler of being Evil All Along and being an Evil Former Friend since he suspects Ressler accepted Reddington after being gifted with a severed head.
  • False Friend: Claims that Elizabeth and any fellow agent helping Reddington is this.
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: Not really, but he’s one of the few notable characters always wearing a leather jacket.
  • It's Personal: Sees the Reddington case as his biggest regret, as many of the bodies were people he couldn’t save.
  • Killer Cop: Almost becomes one when he finally sees Reddington.
  • Lawman Gone Bad: He cares about all the people he failed to protect, but he also attempts an unsanctioned assassination.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: We only see him at the ice rink and morgue, but when he follows Ressler to the woods, he apparently carries a sniper rifle just in case.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Has a habit of getting right into a person’s face when he wants to make a point. Not even Ressler, an old friend, is exempt.
  • Psycho Psychologist: He gets so into channeling Reddington that he ends up pointing a gun at Ressler.
  • Sherlock Scan: Because Diane Fowler was such a high profile case, the evidence was carefully categorized, allowing Gale to reconstruct and deduce from the crime scene.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: After realizing that not just Elizabeth Keen, but his friend Donald Ressler, was protecting Reddington he becomes this when he accepts Big Bad Mr. Kaplan’s help.
  • We Used to Be Friends: After realizing that Ressler was working with/for Reddington, he threatens to bring Ressler’s team down.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: He is introduced in Season Four, neither killed nor Put on a Bus, but never shown again
