Stella

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stella_english_022_0.jpg
  • The Ace: From about the second or third week there was absolutely no doubt that she was going to win...
  • Broken Ace: ...but she ended up quitting her job with Lord Sugar, claiming it was beneath her talents, and then sued him for constructive dismissal and sexual discrimination. She lost the case, and the legal fees financially ruined her.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Refused to become a model for the Cuuli in Week 2 when she was the Project Manager. But she ended up becoming a model anyway much to her dismay, especially when Nick seemed to keep watching the photoshoot.
  • Flawless Victory: Very close to it; she only made two real mistakes in the season, the first of which was selling below the guideline price in Week 4 (causing the deal to be voided), and the second was paying way over the odds for a truffle in Week 9.

Chris

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chris_bates_027.jpg
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Dropped one during a huge argument with Stuart in the last regular task when the latter tried to steal some of Chris' team's customers.
  • Epic Fail: Did so badly in the final that it was a wonder that Lord Sugar didn't outright fire him rather than just not hiring him. His TV advert looked awful, his presentation was average at best, and his liquor brand had an unappealing pink colour.
  • I Meant to Do That: In Week 10, he screwed up his wording and accidentally offered a tourist office 20% of all their ticket sales throughout the entire task, rather than just 20% of the sales from that office, a deal they snapped up only too eagerly. When it turned out that this deal had helped the team win, Lord Sugar seemed under the impression that this was some innovative strategy rather than a simple wording mix-up, which Chris decided not to contradict.
  • The Runner-Up Takes It All: His post-Apprentice career really hasn't been anything special, but he qualifies for this just by virtue of the fact that it didn't go as spectacularly wrong as Stella's did.

Jamie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jamie_lester_029.jpg
  • Artistic License – Geography: Combined with Artistic License – Statistics. While he certainly did a better job than the pig's ear of Stuart's team in the last regular task in the sense he kept the guests entertained, he ended up getting a lot of his tour information wrong. Examples being the face of Big Ben's clock being twenty diameters in length and the River Thames being the longest river in London.
  • The Generic Guy: He really didn't stand out at all, causing many to joke that the only reason he got fired after Joanna was because Lord Sugar forgot he was even there.
  • Never My Fault: Had issues accepting the blame for his mistakes, usually blaming them on others. It was more pronounced in the interviews when the interviewers reported that everything is somebody else's fault in the case of Jamie.

Joanna

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joanna_riley_023.jpg
  • Achilles' Heel: Going purely by sales skills and overall performance, she should have been in the final over Chris. However, she was let down by her short temper and lack of any real knowledge of how a large business works. Had the investment prize been brought in this season instead of the following one, she'd likely have won easily.
  • Arch-Enemy: Regarded Paloma as this, though no-one's exactly sure why, not even Paloma herself.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: As mentioned above, it was one of her biggest flaws, and was particularly noticeable in the early tasks. She mostly kept it under control for the rest of the season... until she was brought back as part of Stella's team in the final, at which point she reverted back to her old habits.
  • If You Taunt Him, You Will Be Just Like Him: Joanna's response to Chris' huge argument with Stuart was that he was simply not worth getting into a fight with.
  • Rouge Angles of Satin: From the way she kept pronouncing the word "octopus" and the fact that their cleaning product was called "Octi-Kleen", she seemed to think the actual spelling and pronunciation of the word is "octipus".

Stuart

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stuart_baggs_031.jpg
  • Arch-Enemy: During the interviews, Claude really didn't like him as revealed after Stuart's interview with him:
"Felt like I'd knocked on his door and said "Sorry Claude, I've run over your dog." And he was so, pissed off with me. He was, like mad."
  • Blatant Lies: One of the most infamous examples in the show's history, as the main reason why he was kept over Liz in Week 10 was the fact that he boasted about owning a fully licensed telecommunications company. It turned out that he actually only owned an ISP, which anyone with £350 to spare can obtain the appropriate licence for, and Lord Sugar accused him of being "full of shit" and fired him in the interview round.
  • The Runner-Up Takes It All: Of all this season's candidates he had easily the highest media profile, and arguably even the most successful business career. However, it ended in tragedy in 2015, when he died from an asthma attack at the age of just 27.

Liz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/liz_locke_021.jpg
  • Alliterative Name: Her actual name is "Elizabeth" but she went by "Liz" during her time on the show which made her name "Liz Locke".
  • The Determinator: Lord Sugar commented that she worked very hard but was still going to let her go.
  • One-Hit Wonder: Bordered on being this. Despite a truly outstanding performance in Week 4 and a decent victory as project manager in Week 5, she never really looked like the same candidate after that, and selling well in the Week 10 task would have been a case of too little, too late had Stuart's claims about his communications licence held up.invoked
  • Only Sane Woman: Was the only one on the girls team (aside from Joy who only spoke up to calm the girls down) who didn't get involved in the huge argument that followed Laura's decision to bring back Joanna and Sandeesh.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: She remembered from the third season that buying everything in the "buy ten items" task but coming back late would get a smaller fine that not buying everything on the list. Under normal circumstances this would actually be smart, but she messed it up by taking that to mean the team only needed to buy all the items in order to win, meaning that they negotiated such low discounts that the other team won despite missing three items and therefore getting massively fined.

Laura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laura_moore_020.jpg
  • Bystander Syndrome: Never outright bad in any of the tasks, just generally invisible and ineffective.
  • The Ditherer: While she was clear of bringing back Joanna, hesitated before bringing back Sandeesh. Then changed her mind again after a huge argument and a "The Reason You Suck" Speech from Karren.
  • Epic Fail: Was responsible for the first-ever failure to earn any orders whatsoever in a task. Somewhat surprisingly she avoided being fired for that, but Lord Sugar held it over her head for the rest of the season.

Christopher

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/christopher_farrell_032.jpg
  • One-Steve Limit: Technically played straight, but in practice both he and Chris were usually referred to as "Chris" by the other candidates.
  • Tragic Mistake: Was a generally solid candidate throughout, but in what turned out to be his final task he secured an early morning sales appointment for a hotel, then for some inexplicable reason phoned them back and asked it to be moved to mid-afternoon. As a result, the other team grabbed their original appointment and got a big order, meaning that they didn't need to buy anything from Christopher's team, which resulted directly in his firing.

Sandeesh

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sandeesh_samra_018.jpg
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Allied herself with Paloma early on, helping her get Shibby fired in Week 3 and then trying to do the same with Alex in Week 5, which Paloma repaid by trying to throw Sandeesh under the bus in the speech that ultimately got herself fired.
  • Jerkass: She tended to argue with quite a lot of people, especially Shibby in Week 3, Laura in Week 4, and Alex in Week 5.
  • One-Hit Wonder: More of a two hit wonder. The only good performances that she had were in Weeks 1 and 4, the rest were poor.
  • Tragic Mistake: Not bringing Jamie back into the boardroom in her last task was this.

Alex

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alex_epstein_028.jpg
  • Epic Fail: While he was unfairly targeted by Paloma and Sandeesh in Week 5, he had absolutely no-one but himself to blame for the complete pig's ear he made of the advertising task in Week 6, which resulted in his firing.
  • Graceful Loser: After he was fired, he left in a very polite manner:
Alex: "Nice to meet you, Lord Sugar, Nick, Karren. Thank you very much indeed."
  • Nice Guy: Tried to be nice to everyone, and was well-liked for the most part. Not that it helped any when dealing with Paloma.
  • No Indoor Voice: "WHEN?!" Even Lord Sugar was taken aback because Alex was quite soft spoken for the most part of the series.

Paloma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/paloma_vivanco_024.jpg
  • Blatant Lies: In Week 3 she openly called Sandeesh useless, then denied having ever said it in the boardroom, which the You're Fired panel eventually called her out on.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: She displayed this toward Shibby in Week 3, then Alex in Week 5, and for good measure also Sandeesh at the very end of the final boardroom in Week 5, playing a major part in her own dismissal.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Had she just kept quiet, odds are Sandeesh would have been fired. Instead, she decided she wanted to say one last thing, and attacked Alex and Sandeesh's employment history, and then launched into yet another barrage of insults on Alex. Lord Sugar decided he'd seen all he needed to, and fired Paloma.
  • Never My Fault: Insisted until the very end that Alex's poorly located promotional stand was responsible for the task loss (and ignored the TV advert he secured for their shop), rather than her screwing up the negotiations with the more valuable fashion label at the start of the task.

Melissa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/melissa_cohen_017.jpg
  • Malaproper: She rivalled George W. Bush in this department, with words such as "professionality" and phrases including "karmically, [Jamie and Stuart] will be retributed." Even though retributed is actually a word. This would later be repeated in Season 13 with Siobhan.
  • Never My Fault: Even in her taxi interview she seemed convinced that she was only fired because Jamie and Stuart ganged up on her, rather than her selling virtually nothing, giving terrible sales pitches, constantly snapping at Jamie, and doing a horrible job as project manager the previous week.
  • One-Hit Wonder: She actually was the top salesperson on the women's team in the first task, but that was the only time she did well on the show.invoked.
  • Valley Girl: Bordered on being this, with her Drama Queen tendencies, bizarre phrases and seeming detachment from reality.

Shibby

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shibby_robati_026.jpg
  • Ask a Stupid Question...: Get a stupid answer - or rather, give a stupid answer. Upon seeing that his team made just sixteen bread rolls, the hotel manager asked what he was supposed to do with his guests. Shibby's response? "Go on the Atkins diet."
  • Didn't Think This Through: Promised 1000 bread rolls to a hotel, without even thinking to check to see whether the team could produce anything close to that. They only ended up making 16.
  • Epic Fail: Managed to lose as project manager in Week 3, despite Melissa's awful leadership of the other team. And this wasn't the result of some Tragic Mistake like in Week 4 of the previous season; Shibby's leadership was just that bad.

Joy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joy_stefanicki_019.jpg
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: She took the time to comfort Laura, when the latter was having a Heroic BSoD thanks to the huge arguments among the team. Laura repaid her by taking her into the final boardroom, where she was fired.
  • Only Sane Woman: She was the only person on the team who didn't get involved in the various arguments during Week 2. So naturally, Lord Sugar decided this proved she was too weak, and fired her.

Raleigh

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raleigh_addington_030.jpg
  • Honour Before Reason: Or rather, family before reason. His decision to leave the show after his brother suffered injuries that could have killed him while in Afghanistan.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: The "It was shameful" speech about Dan.
  • What Could Have Been: His potential time on the show.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Didn't do much of note in the first task, and then had to leave the show after his brother suffered life-threatening injuries while serving in the army. Though he did contribute the "It was shameful!" meme during his short time on the show...

Dan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dan_harris_033.jpg
  • Have a Gay Old Time: A more literal example of this trope than most. In the first task he wasn't sure who was assigned to grind down the pork cuts to make sausages with, and so decided to find out by bellowing, at the top of his voice, "WHO'S DOING THE MINCING?"
  • Jerkass: After being named project manager on the first task, he decided — even openly admitted — that he was just going to sit back and let the rest of the team do the work. The rest of the team didn't take kindly to this, and neither did Lord Sugar.
  • Reality Show Genre Blindness: Admitted on "You're Fired" that he had watched previous series and should have known what mistakes to avoid — but made them anyway.
  • Self-Deprecation: Admitted that he watched his only episode behind a pillow.
