Team Garcia

Tropes fitting the entire team:

  • Big Bad: The whole lot of them were promoted to this along with Doji in Shogun Steel.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Dirty tricks aside, all of them are legitimately skilled bladers in their own right and winning the World Championships couldn't have been their only option for making a better life for themselves. Kenta, who started off as a complete amateur, made a name for himself in the beyblading world without winning any major tournaments. They also could have easily built themselves up with their existing reputation as the B-Block runner-ups who nearly beat the team who would become the world champions.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Overlapping with Dirty Coward, they're all cheaters of some sort. Argo is ruthless in his attacks and loves to attack from behind, Ian constantly takes advantage of a stadium gimmick that only he can use (or so he thought), and Selen and Enzo both like to wear down their opponents before throwing a match.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Join Hades Inc. and don't seem to reform.
  • For the Evulz: They seem to revel in the chaos they cause and seem to be driven by spite.
  • Freudian Excuse: They grew up as poor, homeless orphans that had no one else but themselves to rely on which led to them believing that Gan Gan Galaxy had the easy way out. However...
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Tsubasa even called them out for how weak their excuse was to justify their actions, as Gan Gan Galaxy suffered through a lot of hardships of their own, Tsubasa suffering the worst out of them all, yet none of them ever resorted to cheating or hurting others to get ahead. They also became massive cheating jerks that were more than willing to side with any evil organization.
    • There were also villagers who lived under the same conditions as Team Garcia (whom Team Garcia has also stolen from) which weakens their excuse to justify their actions even further.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: The main source of their contempt and animosity towards Bladers from other nations is that they believe that they had easier lives than them.
  • Heartwarming Orphan: Averted. Though they are orphans, they are by no means nice people.
  • Marathon Boss: The Garcias managed to trick Team Gan Gan Galaxy into a rigged gauntlet match where there are no breaks in between the next opponent. They nearly won this way.
  • Phenotype Stereotype: They're black; so are almost all the Brazilian characters seen in the background.
  • Revenge: The Garcias' dream of a better life seems to be motivated by revenge on a world they feel is responsible for the harsh lifestyle
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Yes, they were always jerks but never really evil. After siding with Team Star Breaker (more specifically Hades Inc.) and becoming the leaders of DNA, they're full-on bad guys.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Even though Gingka and his friends were hailed as heroes, the Garcias not only refuse to see them as such, but continue to harbor their vendetta and became the leaders of DNA and declare war on the WBBA to spite Gan Gan Galaxy for that one loss and take over the Beyblade world for their own greed.

Argo

The leader of Team Garcia.
  • Dem Bones: The avatar of his Bey, Ray Gill, resembles a large, skeletal sea monster.
  • Hachimaki
  • The Heavy: He was this in Shogun Steel, as he was the one who leads DNA, before Merci shows up.
  • Meaningful Name: His beyblade is based on the Carina constellation, formerly part of the ancient Argo Navis.
  • The Rival: To Tsubasa.
  • No-Sell: His bey can't be affected by aerial attacks due to the jagged energy ring. Tsubasa beat him by aiming for the performance tip.
  • Scary Black Man: The tallest, meanest, strongest, and most ruthless of the Garcias.
  • The Sociopath: He is the most violent of the Garcias and has no qualms about endangering innocent people to get want he wants.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: He has skills alright, but if he was nicer and believed in the power of the Bey Spirit, he could've have been one of the strongest bladers on the show.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Smacked his own sister in the face.

Ian

  • The Dragon: To Argo
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Ian claims that only he is able to use the Cyclone Stadium so when Gingka attempted to use it in his place, Ian puts a stop to it using a precision shot to Gingka's bey. Unfortunately for Ian, he indirectly showed Gingka how to stop the Cyclone Spin and he used it against him to win the match.
  • Classical Mythology: Herculeo being based on Hercules.
  • Odd Name Out: Out of all the Garcias' Beys, Ian's Bey, Herculeo, is the only one to not use the Ray fusion wheel, instead using the Cyclone fusion wheel, and as such is the only one to not have Ray in its name.
  • Spin Attack: The Cyclone Spin. Ian's main strategy in battle is making use of the Cyclone Stadium to boost the spin speed and power of his Herculeo and strike at Gingka's Pegasus with high power.
  • Super-Senses: Ian appears to be able to sense whenever the Cyclone Stadium is about to activate in order to get his bey into there for a Cyclone Spin.

Selen

  • "Get Back Here!" Boss: Selen knows she cannot beat Gingka so her strategy is to have her bey constantly run from Pegasus in order to wear out its stamina. When she felt like she accomplished her goal enough, she forfeits.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: As stated above, Selen knows she can't beat Gingka in the battle. Before forfeiting, she takes great fun in having her bey wear down Gingka's bey by running away.
  • Sacrificial Lion: In the Destroyer Dome, as a plan to let her brothers win.
