Characters in Tales From The Cryptkeeper.
T. Charles King aka The Cryptkeeper
Voiced by: John Kassir
- Adaptational Attractiveness: An odd example of this in that he's drawn in a kid-friendly, less overtly horrifying manner, but has traded in his blue eyes for sickly yellow ones and his brown skin for green. This has the overall effect of making him look less like a dried out, mummified human being and more like he's actively rotting.
- Adaptational Heroism: Much less vicious than his original counterpart.
- The Cameo: Multiple Season 1 episodes have him briefly appear during the given story, from something as mundane as his face being on a penny to hosting a monstrous Show Within a Show that the protagonists were watching.
- Creepy High-Pitched Voice: Just as in the live-action series, he has a high-pitched rasp that fits his creepy nature as a Horror Host.
- Deadpan Snarker: Definitely has his moments, especially when the Old Witch and the Vaultkeeper are involved.
- Given Name Reveal: While the Cat's Away gives his name as T. Charles King, which might even just be an alias for interacting with the regular world. Otherwise, he is just known as the Cryptkeeper.
- Guile Hero: Often has to use his wits to overcome whatever magic or gadgets thrown his way by the Old Witch and Vaultkeeper, respectively.
- Hurricane of Puns: It's easier to count the number of times his speech hasn't included a pun.
- Interactive Narrator: Becomes this in season 3.
- Signing Off Catchphrase: "So, until next time/slime/shriek..." in Season 2 and "I'll be watching" in Season 3.
- Walking the Earth: Spends Season 2 traveling to different locations to relax and tell his stories without interference. Just about every time, one of his rivals shows up to try to upstage him. In Season 3, he's still at it, instigating the tales to try to correct children's misbehavior.
Vaultkeeper
- Voiced by: David Hemblen
- Adaptational Attractiveness: Unlike his counterpart from the comics, he's not perpetually drooling.
- Annoying Laugh: In contrast to his usual, more serious voice, he often displays a high-pitched chortle.
- Enemy Mine: He has a brief team-up with the Crypt Keeper in "Dead Men Don't Jump!" to get back at the Old Witch, but he later teams with her in "Hunted" to box in Cryptie.
- Gadgeteer Genius: He comes up with a variety of inventions when going up against the Crypt Keeper.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: A lot of his inventions tend to result in this, either because they overload or because the Crypt Keeper turns the tables on him.
Old Witch
- Voiced by: Elizabeth Hanna
- Adaptational Attractiveness: Unlike her counterpart from the comics, her engorged eye is less painful looking. But still considered ugly enough to break mirrors and the camera.
- Character Catchphrase: "GUESS WHO?!"
- Incoming Ham: Typically announces her arrival with her catchphrase or some other loud line.
- Mirror-Cracking Ugly: Her biggest Running Gag. Mirrors break whenever she looks into them or is simply nearby. She once even caused the screen to break because she blew a kiss in the direction of the audience.
- Villains Out Shopping: When not trying to take over the show, she teaches a class at the gym.
