The Guardian Sisters

Tropes that apply to all of them
  • Action Girl: Each one can kick ass, each one is treated as female.
  • Amazon Brigade: They're all treated as female characters, and they can all wipe out mooks on an enormous scale.
  • Benevolent A.I.: They're not corrupted by Ganon's Malice. Even more than that, they actually have a mind of their own, and a sense of intelligence.
  • Came Back Strong: Symin mentions that they had fixed the three little ones up and made them even stronger. They protect Link's house, and can fight alongside them. The three large Guardians are restored by Paya to full strength.
  • Color Motif: All of them are white in color. Or at least, they will become white.
  • Decomposite Character: To Terrako and the Battle-Tested Guardian from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. There weren't Skywatcher or Turret variants of either of them in the game.
  • Gender Flip: Link wasn't fond of referring to them as "it", so he decided to refer to Terrako, Cerako, and Argiko as female. In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Terrako was only called "it", befitting a genderless robot.
  • Original Characters: Terrako and Cottako (Battle-Tested Guardian) are adapted from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Their respective "sisters" were created to create diminutive and "battle-tested" counterparts in the Skywatcher and Turret Guardian types.
    • For reference, Terrako, Cerako, and Argiko are respectively the Stalker, Skywatcher, and Turret.
    • Cottako, Amiko, and Gilako are the Battle-Tested Guardian, Warfare-Tested Skywatcher, and Combat-Tested Turret.
  • Robot Buddy: All six of them fight alongside the heroes.
  • Theme Naming: All of their names reflect Terrako's name from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and in fact, each name counterparts each other. The ends of their names end in -ko, which in Japanese can be a suffix that means "child". The names reflect different forms of pottery.
    • The Guardian Stalkers are named for terracotta: Terrako and Cottako.
    • The Guardian Skywatchers are named for ceramic: Cerako and Amiko.
    • The Guardian Turrets are named for argil: Argiko and Gilako.
  • The Unintelligible: None of them can speak. The three little ones at best can speak in whistles, but they can also create holographic projections of hands to communicate more effectively.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: All six of them can fire off beams of energy.

    Diminutive Guardians
A trio of diminutive versions of Guardians that are rebuilt by Symin and Purah in Hateno Ancient Tech Lab after having been found in Hyrule Castle.

Terrako is the egg-shaped Diminutive Guardian Stalker.

Cerako is the Diminutive Guardian Skywatcher.

Argiko is the Diminutive Guardian Turret.
  • Amplifier Artifact: These three can interact with Sheikah technology, use runes, and project images back to the Sheikah Slate.
  • Badass Adorable: They're all adorable little machines that act like pets in Link's home, but all of them are capable of accomplishing impressive combat feats.
  • Came Back Strong: Symin says that they fixed up the three little ones and gave them upgrades which is why they can fight effectively.
  • Charge Attack: They can charge up their blaster attacks to make them stronger.
  • Combat Pragmatist: When fighting Malice Guardians, they default to hiding in wait and ambushing their prey.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They instantly destroy Astor's Malice Skywatcher before it even has a chance to attack them.
  • Cute Machines: They're little white and gold machines that can whistle little tones through various pipes, and even play Zelda's lullaby.
  • Decomposite Character: Terrako's role is as Link's companion in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This role is recycled in The Myth of Link & Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but is given to Cerako.
  • Deflector Shield: Argiko can produce a spherical bubble-shaped force field. It looks the same as Medoh's barrier, but it's colored blue instead of magenta. Unfortunately, she can't attack while she's using it, though she can charge her attacks. She can use this to absorb the power of attacks being thrown at her.
  • Dual Wielding: Terrako often uses multiple weapons at once in a fight.
  • Energy Ball: Terrako is able to conjure a self-sustaining sphere of energy that explodes on contact with a powerful beam.
  • Energy Weapon: Their default weapon in combat. Whether it's Ancient weaponry or their blasters.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Terrako is the Fighter with melee weapons, Cerako is the Mage who combines ranged and close combat and can project holographic hands, and Argiko is the Thief that fights from a distance where foes may forget that she's there. Purah lampshades this about them.
  • Multishot: Argiko is the best ranged fighter, and she can split her beams into multiple different ones to attack several different targets at once.
  • Robot Buddy: Cerako is this for Link, accompanying him during his quest to free the Divine Beasts.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: They were all put back together by Symin and Purah after they found them in Hyrule Castle.

    Guardians of War
Modified Guardian models from thousands of years ago inside the Forgotten Temple. Each one is used as a final test for Impa in her quest to unlock the Frog Spirit.

Cottako is the Battle-Tested Guardian.

Amiko is the Warfare-Tested Skywatcher.

Gilako is the Combat-Tested Turret.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Their glow is orange instead of magenta, making it clear that they're not under Ganon's control. The glow turns blue and their frames turn white later on, making it even more clear that they're like their diminutive counterparts. The blue comes from their influence under Paya's power, making it clear that anyone with enough power and magic can control the Guardians.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: When Impa defeats them, they all choose to side with the heroes against Ganon.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Cottako is the Fighter that goes right up into the thick of things like a tank, Gilako is the Mage who mostly fights from a distance using her ranged weaponry, and Amiko is the Thief that often swoops in from the air for attacks.
  • Human Pincushion: All three had various weapons embedded in their armor as a testament to the number of battles and wars they've been in.
  • Mirror Character: They're literally the large variants of the Diminutive Guardians. They default to a similar dynamic as their smaller sisters.
  • Reclaimed by Nature: They're all covered in moss from thousands of years of dormant neglect. Paya fixes them up with her Reset Button powers thanks to the Sheikah Orb.
  • Rogue Drone: They're the only three Guardians that join Hyrule's forces instead of falling under Calamity Ganon's control. This is because they were buried under the Forgotten Temple and Ganon didn't know about them.
  • Theme Naming: Aside from the names Purah gives them, they're official titles all reflect being hardened by war.
  • Token Heroic Orc: To Purah and Paya's surprise, they want to fight with Hyrule instead of Ganon. They're still under their original programming and aren't influenced by Ganon's power, so they fight for the kingdom they were originally meant to fight for.
  • Tron Lines: They're originally orange, but they turn blue when Paya fixes them up and influences them with her own power in the same way that Calamity Ganon was able to.
