The characters of the story Summer Does Have A Soul

Louise "Louie" Burque

Ostensibly the main character, or at least the viewpoint character.

  • Action Girl
  • Almighty Janitor: She goes from this (with the original group) to Authority Equals Asskicking
  • Ambiguously Gay: She's only ever shown interest in the female characters, although she flirts good-naturedly with everyone.
  • Battle Couple: At first with Shola (the other Winged Humanoid), and then with Oscar.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Part one: Extremely protective over Shola.
      • Also, don't mention her failure of a love-life.
    • Part two: Would hurt anyone who suggested that she betrayed the original group.
      • Still don't emtnion her failure of a love-life.
      • Don't. Break. Up. With. Any. Of. Her. Friends.
      • Don't suggest that self-harm or suicide is attention-seeking.
  • Chaotic Neutral: "Because the end justifies blowing shit up."
  • Distaff Counterpart: To Oscar
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Somewhat.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: So. Much.
    • She and Oscar quickly establish that he is allowed to call her stupid and cuff her upside the head (possibly justified in that he's extremely gentle about it), and vice avers, but if anyone else tries to do this, both of them will get mad.
    • Jake is the only one allowed to pick her up. If anyone else tries to, she will go all-out on them.
    • Because she knows him extremely well, Luke allows her to poke fun at him, and she allows him to do the same in return. If anyone else tries this (on either one), she will be down on you like a ton of bricks.
  • Only Sane Man: So much so, particularly after the introduction of the Alternates.
  • Reality Warper: Gets stronger with time. At first she can affect certain things, but by the end she's created the Alternates.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: With Oscar. He's quiet, melancholic and generally reserved, while she quickly becomes quite giggly, although this is only when they aren't alone. When they are, her nature changes drastically.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: So much so. She's a nice, gentle-looking girl who hugs everyone and everything she can while being incredibly shy, but if she has a weapon (or even something that can be a weapon), once she knows what she's doig she can and will be extremely dangerous.
  • Shrinking Violet: Particularly early on. Comes very much out of her shell after she meets Oscar, becoming The Hero (or one of the heroes) of her plot arc.
  • Tranquil Fury: Both the most peaceful and dangerous of the characters.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Oscar, Jake and Luke, particularly Luke.
    • Frequently play-fights with Oscar, partly as a way to assert something like dominance, and also just because she can.
    • Jake frequently picks her up, so she kicks his knees until he replaces her.
    • Pounces on Luke whenever she sees him and play-fights in a way that looks like they're really scrapping with each-other.
  • Winged Humanoid
