The Yusung Study is an official school club created by the protagonist Gamin Youn and his teacher Hankyeong Lee. Details for this group can be found in Yusung Study page.

     Gunyeob Park 

Gunyeob Park

The mysterious first year student and son of the school inspector of Incheon Education Department.
  • It's Personal: His reason for going against Yusung High School. His mother was a teacher there who was murdered for attempting to form a disciplinary committee in order to change the school.
  • Power Fist: Uses brass knuckles to fight.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Is willing to go to various lengths to avenge his mother, who was killed by those involved with the White Lead.
  • Yakuza: Joins the White Lead by Season 2, albeit with the intentions to destroy it.

     Hanwul Pi 

Hanwul Pi

A second-year student and the de-facto leader of the school.


  • Antagonistic Offspring: He openly against his father's wish to be a decent person by choosing the same path that his father took and later on he expressed that he wants to kill him.
  • The Dreaded: Most students at Yusung fear him, both due to his influence and his fighting prowess.
  • Big Bad: For Season 1.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Displays this towards his younger sister.
  • The Corrupter: Because of hin some of the used to be decent people became corrupt people too, this includes Jaehwang and Hyeonu.
  • Freudian Excuse: Hanwul's mother died when he was younger. It's implied that his father is involved with her death because of a power-struggle. Later on, his teacher who wants to expel him but she's actually in good terms with him and motivated to change Hanwul for good was murdered by the hands of White Lead because she learned important things about his father. These made him chose the dark path and be against on his father's wish to become just a normal decent person.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Shows signs of this once defeated at the end of Season 1.
  • Hidden Depths: It’s ultimately revealed that he wasn't responsible for the death of Gunyeob's mother and in fact had resolved to change because of her.
  • Light Is Not Good: Has white hair and pale skin.
  • Put on a Bus: His expulsion leads to his exit at the end of Season 1.
  • Teens Are Monsters: He influences and manipulates other students to do his bidding. Most of the characters thought he's the one who ordered Geonyeob's mother's death. However, he's not actually above killing and he secretly mourned her death.

     Hyeonu Lee 

Hyeonu Lee

Jiwoo's twin brother.
  • Big Brother Instinct: His motivation for being a delinquent is to support and protect Jiwoo.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Ultimately undergoes one during his time in juvenile detention.
  • Put on a Bus: Once he was sent to juvenile detention for stabbing Hankyeong. He returns towards the end of Season 1.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He and his gang bullied their new teacher Hankyeong at the start of the story. His gang nearly harms her again as revenge only to be stopped by Geonyeob and Gamin.

     Gyujin Kim 

Gyujin Kim

A second-year student introduced as Jiwoo's boyfriend.
  • Blackmail: He uses this to harass Jiwoo and force her to be his girlfriend.
  • Face Your Fears: Decides to land a hit on Mugyu, despite knowing he will lose, while seeing Siwon losing a fight against him.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Softens up after he was protected by Hankyeong against Hyeonu's stabbing attack. At season 2, he's not agressive to Gamin and other study group members anymore.
  • Student Council President: Is this at the beginning of the story, but ultimately loses this position.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Not only he blackmailed his girlfriend Jiwoo but also used to physically abuse her.

     Homin Kim 

Homin Kim

A first year student and currently holds the first place in exam rankings.
  • The Ace: A valedictorian and has certificates for engineering. He currently holds the first place in exams placements. After the midterms, he shares the same place with Sehyun.
  • The Bully: Homin and his friends bullies other students and he knows that the school will not punish him as he is the 'Future of Yusung High' because of his good grades.
  • Finger Poke of Doom: Received one from Gamin after Homin 'lost' in Rock–Paper–Scissors. It so strong that it left a '1'-like mark on his forehead.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Hits Heewon just to see Sehyun suffer.

     Minhwa Ma 

Minhwa Ma

A second-year student and the son of one of the heads of White Lead.
  • The Bully: One of the most cruellest bullies in Yusung.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: At first, he helps the students who requested for it... Only to backstab some of them in the end for his sadistic pleasure.
  • Teens Are Monsters: Even more than Hanwul. Using a gun, Minhwa killed Siwon's master/mother figure without remorse.

     Siwon Cheon 

Siwon Cheon

A second-year transferred student originally introduced as a member of the White Lead and Minhwa Ma's adopted brother.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Starts off as this in his introduction, but it cools off quickly.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Undergoes one once the White Lead attacks Chinatown and Minhwa kills his master/mother figure.
  • Kung-Fu Kid: His primary style of fighting is kung-fu.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Downplayed, however his long hair is brought up during multiple fights.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Smaller than the rest of the main fighters in the cast. He also defeated multiple White Lead members as a ten year old.
  • Student Council President: Siwon replaced Sunchul immediately after Hanwul's attempt to stop Miss Lee from getting him expelled out from school. After he left Hanwul's group, he still holds this status at Yusung High School and he became more responsible.

     Mugyu Choi 

Mugyu Choi

A second-year student originally introduced as a direct subordinate of Hanwul.
  • Ascended Extra: Originally introduced as an opponent in season 1's finale arc. Because of reader's positive reaction to him, he got more appearances in season 2.
  • Battle Couple: With Asung.
  • The Big Guy: Much larger than Gamin, Siwon and Jun.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Appears to be on good terms with both Gamin and Siwon after his defeat. He eventually joins them in their fight against Heukchung High School.
  • Friendly Enemy: He doesn't appear to fight for any reason other than enjoying it.
  • Graceful Loser: Upon losing to Sunchul and Jiwoo, he and Asung begin to laugh while staring at the ceiling above them.

     Asung Hong

A second-year student originally introduced as a direct subordinate of Hanwul.

     Junghwa Oh (Unmarked Spoilers) 

Junghwa Oh

Geonyeob's deceased mother who used to be Hankyeong's and Hanwul's teacher. Junghwa's death was labelled as accident but Geonyeob and Hankyeong doesn't believe this is the case.
  • Cool Teacher: Hankyeong views her teacher as this. Junghwa changed Hankyeong's life from depressed to motivated one.
    • Not only Hankyeong but she almost convinced Hanwul to change his ways for good.

     Minhee Jung 

Minhee Jung

A first-year student who first meets Gamin as a friend of Asung.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Her type is manly boys and found Gamin's 'dangerous aura' as attractive.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Gamin doesn't appear to return her feels, although he is much more pre-occupied with his studies and trying to find Hankyeong to really notice them.
  • Aborted Declaration of Love: Subverted. She assumes Gamin returns her feelings and attempts to have him confess to her, not knowing that he is unaware of them. When the rest of the Study Group is caught watching them, she assumes he avoided confessing in order to not get caught by them.
  • Crush Blush: Occasionally displays this when around Gamin.
  • Daddy's Girl: Appears to show this dynamic with her father in flashbacks and after Gamin and Gunyeob help defeat the loan sharks chasing him.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her father runs away to escape debt collectors, leaving her to hide from them as well.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: At first, Minhee thought Gamin is just a lowly loser nerd but of course this changes when she saw him without his glasses and later saved her from Hi Crew's chief. After her problem resolved, she stated she'll study properly because of the guy she likes.
  • Ship Tease: A one-sided towards to Gamin.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: She has black hair and pale skin.

Gamin's Family

     Mihyun Jeon 

Mihyun Jeon

Gamin's single mother. Mihyun was used to be the top taekwondo player of Korea but now she works as the director of Korean Taekwondo Association. She divorced Gamin's father when Gamin was in middle school.
  • Action Mom: Briefly goes up against and overwhelms multiple delinquents.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Mihyun angrily slapped Gamin as he violated the curfew hours and she mistook the blood on Sehyun's sleeve as Gamin's doing. Because of it, even against to his will, she urgently attempted to transfer Gamin to other school as she fears that Yusung's environment will change him into a violent person.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn't sugarcoat her words everytime she sees Gamin's low exam results. Later on, she said that he should not go to college just because of his father and it won't guarantee his happiness.
  • Cool Old Lady: The current director of the Korean Taekwondo Association and a former world champion in the sport.
  • Mama Bear: Is very protective of Gamin, although she is aware of his strength.
  • My Beloved Smother: While she's not an Education Mama and cares for his well-being, she can be controlling. Gamin fears everytime she says something with 'get ready' or 'be prepared' as it means she'll force him to accept it; This includes going to a trip to Mongolia in the middle of nowhere, cutting ties with his uncle who taught him martial arts, her divorce with his father, and later on: moving to Seoul to immediately transfer him to another school.
  • Put on a Bus: Goes on an overseas business trip to US in Season 2.

     Gamin's Father (Unmarked Spoilers) 

Jungho Youn

Gamin's mysterious father who works in abroad since after he divorced Gamin's mother. He's one of the main reasons why Gamin has obsession on studying.

In season 2, he finally appeared after returning from abroad. It was revealed that Jungho is a genius in medical field and currently working as a member of Doctors Without Borders.
  • Brutal Honesty: Jungho tells Gamin to give up his dream of going to college because he was bound to fail the Korea University entrance exam.
  • Trust Me, I'm an X: After he checked a student's condition after getting almost 'run over' by a car, he assured the student is just fine. He said this trope because he didn't wear a doctor's uniform that time.

     Youngha Jeon 

Youngha Jeon

Mihyun's younger brother and Gamin's uncle that taught him martial arts.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows
  • Cool Uncle: To Gamin, as he is the one who taught him how to fight. He is also a talented fighter himself.
  • Hero of Another Story: When he was in highschool, Youngha is the main protagonist of the webtoon Hanlim Gym.
  • NEET: Implied. He's currently jobless and currently seeking one before his sister return from overseas.

     Gamin's Paternal Grandparents (Unmarked Spoilers) 
Gamin's strict grandparents from his father's side. His grandfather is a highly respected president of unknown group (implied to be a chaebol type).

Police

     Taeman Na 

Taeman Na

A detective working to try to take down the White Lead.
  • Cool Old Guy: While not exactly old, he is certainly well respected by the Study Group.
  • Put on a Bus: Like other helpful adult figures appeared season 1, Detective Na was absent in the next season. Most likely because of his involvement against the White Lead.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Is rather understanding of the Study Group and lets them off the hook for their actions multiple times.
