THAT'S NO HEDGEHOG...

"Hiya! Do you wanna play a game with me?"

A sadistic, eldritch entity that takes on the shape of Sonic the Hedgehog. He desires to enslave all of humanity and won't stop until he's crossed over and claimed every single human soul. He is the culprit responsible for the strange happenings in Thomas Miller's college.

• A God Am I: Though he doesn't outright say "I AM GOD" like he did in the remake, it's made very apparent his depraved delusions of godhood is still the same it's ever been.
• Animalistic Abomination: X certainly looks more predatory in the remake, giving off hints of the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed.
• Arch-Enemy: To Tom and Detective Derek Green, particularly to Tom for taking Kyle's soul and for endangering his friends.
• Ax-Crazy: Everything is nothing more than a twisted game to X.
• The Bad Guy Wins: Even though Tom committed suicide in attempt to spare himself from the same hell his friends were going through, Word of God says X was still able to grab his soul before it could escape.
• Big Bad: As the Serial Killer responsible for the string of murders haunting Tom and his friends.
• Big "NO!": X roars this in the climax as he tries to stop Tom from committing suicide.
• Black Eyes of Crazy: X's eyes have pitch black sclerae with tiny, red, glowing irises with pin-prick pupils, with little "X"s faded into the irises. This time around though it doesn't seem like they're bleeding.
• Body Horror: X has an unnaturally long set of arms and legs that all look like they grew and lengthened out of the skin, revealing something black underneath and ending in large claws.
• Break Them by Talking: X tries to do this to Tom in an attempt to stop him from committing suicide. It doesn't work.
• Casting a Shadow: Comes naturally for a dark creature such as him.
• Creepily Long Arms: Arms AND legs.
• Creepy Child: Being a Psychopathic Manchild, he sometimes gives off this effect, specially when he's using the "Young Boy" voice. Given his Vague Age, we don't know how old he is, so he could be a young... something.
• Creepy Doll: The doll has returned, except now instead of it being a spy in the human world for X, it's actually one of the many forms X takes. It's now a small Sonic head with tiny black dots for eyes and a wide black line curled into a smile. The head is resting innocently on the end of some sort of black tentacle or appendage that's rising out of nothing from the ground, almost like a flower.
• Dark Is Evil: X is a creature made from dark matter, and is an Eldritch Abomination.
• Demiurge Archetype: He's similar to The Demiurge, as a Psychopathic Manchild Eldritch Abomination with a raging God Complex who drags human souls to slavery a Prison/Torture Chamber world of gross matter away from the "Plemora". However, he is SO much worse by virtue of being much more sadistic and brutal.
• Dimension Lord: X absolutely controls the reality within his own universe, and rather enjoys flaunting his power over all those within it. Whenever he crosses over into the human world however, that's a different story...
• Eldritch Abomination: X's true nature. He is an extra-dimensional monster with an incomprehensible shape going around under the guise of Sonic the Hedgehog. The way his "Sonic" form looks gives off obvious, very unsettling hints that this isn't Sonic at all, but some creature pretending to be him.
• Energy Being: X is made of sentient dark matter.
• Establishing Character Moment:
  X: "Hiya! Wanna play a game with me?"
• Equal-Opportunity Evil: The intro actually states the reason behind X's desire to enslave all of mankind quite subtly, explaining how he desires humans "like how a child would at a toy store".
• Even Evil Has Standards: Subverted. X flat out tells Tom that he doesn't condone murder, but he states that "death is the waste of a good toy". He also doesn't seem to condone suicide, which is evident from the amount of fear and anger in his voice when Tom decided to aim the knife towards himself in the final showdown, but only cause it deprives him of another soul.
• Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: Being a sadist, X has a sense of humor that's black as pitch.
• Evil Is Bigger: X practically towers over humans due to his long limbs.
• Evil Laugh: Just like in the original, X has a demented clown-like laugh.
• Foil: To Tom. Tom wants to help his friends and is willing to do whatever it takes to put their well-being above his, while X selfishly views everyone he comes to contact with as mere toys for him and himself alone, and could care less about what they want.
• For the Evulz: Every horrific thing X has done is simply because he thinks it's fun.
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: When X starts to get excited, the red irises in his dark eyes will start to glow.
• Hope Crusher: X finds absolute joy in the misery of others, and will go outta his way to inflict as much suffering as possible in any way it can.
• Hypocrite: When he's been beaten in a "game", he'll angrily call the winner a "cheater" despite rigging all of his games to be Unwinnable by Design himself.
• Identity Impersonator: In his default form, he resembles Sonic the Hedgehog. While it's mainly because he's a fan of Sonic, X in the remake is also choosing to pretend to be Sonic in order to fool his victims into a false sense of security.
• Jawbreaker: When X is about to steal your soul, he viciously pulls your mouth open until your jaw snaps and then he proceeds to violently shove his hands down your throat to rip your soul out from within your chest.
• Kick the Dog: He does this quite a few times in the remake, particularly to Tom.
• Kubrick Stare: When X's character design for the remake was revealed (which can be seen above), it showed him pulling off such a sinister stare.
• Lean and Mean: In the remake, X is much taller, more leaner and far more sinister than he was in the original story.
• Living Bodysuit: His Sonic form is implied to resemble one, with the arms and legs looking like they've been stretched and grown over the skin, like whatever is under the costume couldn't fit itself all in or outgrew its costume.
• Loves the Sound of Screaming: True to his sadistic nature, X is almost ALWAYS seen with a big fucking gleeful smile on his face whenever Tom or his friends scream in terror in his presence.
• More Teeth than the Osmond Family: X has a lot of large sharp fangs fitted into that wide mouth of his.
• Morphic Resonance: X's other forms often retain features of his Sonic form.
• Multi-Armed and Dangerous: When X is about to steal someone's soul, he leans his head back and opens his mouth extremely wide and sends out a writhing multitude of shadowy arms, which proceed to pull your mouth wide open until the jaw snaps, and then force their way down your throat until they grab your soul inside your chest.
• Multiversal Conqueror: X seeks to crossover to our dimension and nab every human soul to enslave for eternity. He just doesn't know how to gather everyone up all at once.
• Nightmare Face: X's mug truly looks like a thing of nightmares, having a wide pair of black eyes with red dots for pupils, purple glowing cracks growing around his eyes, and having a wide, almost unnatural slasher smile with a huge, monstrous set of fangs.
• No Name Given: X is described as "a nameless darkness, a faceless evil". Interestingly enough, X is never called "X" in the remake, instead being referred to as "the creature".
• Not Helping Your Case: X explains to Tom that he hasn't murdered a single human since his arrival to Earth, but then goes on saying that killing people is just wasting more of his precious toys.
• Power Limiter: X's main problem whenever he crosses over into the human world. Because he isn't a part of our reality, his reality-warping powers become severely limited, to a point where all he can do is shapeshift and teleport.
• Psychopathic Manchild: This is X truly at his core: He's honestly just a demented, sadistic, selfish, spoiled little brat with a lot of power and too much time on his hands. He believes the only reason mankind exists is to become his plaything, whether they have a say in it or not, and won't stop until he's claimed every soul of every human to do whatever he wants with for eternity. He also childishly views his victims' misery and suffering by his hands as nothing more than fun and games.
• Reality Warper: X's primary ability.
• Sadist: More obviously so in the remake.
• Shapeshifter Default Form: X prefers to be in a form that resembles Sonic.
• Slasher Smile: Even more prominently so. X's mouth has now become even bigger and wider and is now carrying more teeth than is normally possible.
• Sore Loser: He doesn't like it when someone beats him, often resulting in him throwing rather disturbing childlike tantrums and hypocritically calling the winner out on cheating.
• Take Over the World: X wants to make all of mankind his playthings for eternity, and is more than determined to make that happen, either one soul at a time or all at once.
• Tantrum Throwing: When X gets SUPER pissed, namely if someone is "cheating", he'll fly into a disturbingly childish tantrum that normally involves him thrashing around the room and breaking things.
• The Villain Knows Where You Live: Justified, especially considering the portal between the human world and X's world is literally sitting inside Tom's dorm room.
• To Create a Playground for Evil: His primary goal and motivation.
• Torture Technician: Oh, the things X is doing to all those he's claimed...
• Trademark Favorite Food: Word of God states that even in the remake, X's bizarre love for meatball marinara with pickles has remained the same.
• Troll: X's main hobby before stealing someone's soul is regularly mindfuck with them with his game and his reality-warping powers.
• Villainous Breakdown: In the climax of the remake, the minute Tom has a knife at his own neck, ready to claim his own life in order to save himself from X's tyranny, X briefly goes from possibly wanting to rape Tom to being scared of losing a fresh new soul to furiously smashing and throwing Tom's furniture because Tom managed to find a way out of his demented game. But X immediately regains his composure when he then tries a last ditch effort to talk Tom out of committing suicide. It almost works, but Tom at this point isn't fooled and is pretty much done with X's shit and manages to off himself before X can stop him...Only for X to get his soul anyway.
• Villain World: The dimension he rules over and comes from.
• Voice Changeling: X's voice seems capable of changing almost constantly, some times he would speak with a fake male teenager voice, other times he would speak in a taunting child kind of voice, and in times when he's excited or angry, his voice will change into a more beastlike growl.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Apparently not only does X resemble Sonic, but he can transform into other things as well.
• Who Wants to Live Forever?: The fate of all those captured by X and trapped in his world. Because the soul can exist forever, X has found a way to render his victims immortal by bringing them into his dimension, to be forever tormented and brutalized to satisfy his sadistic appetites.
• Xtremely Kool Letterz: The title of the Remake, and the creature itself is called "X".
