Main characters
Sherm
- Affectionate Nickname: Sherm gets treated with "Shermie-poo" from Clio, not that he doesn't mind it.
- Insult of Endearment: On the flip side of Clio, Titus coined the term "Dougal Boy" for Sherm, whatever that means.
The Germs
In General
- Aerith and Bob: The Germs have a mixture of names that are either relatively normal (Titus, Clio, and Iggy) or completely made-up (Whoosh and Oboes).
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The germs have their own distinctive colors: red for Titus, pink-purple/magenta for Clio, orange and lime-green for Iggy, yellow for Oboes and blue for Whoosh.
- Karma Houdini:
- Morphic Resonance: No matter who or what the germs shapeshift into, they'll always retain their respective colors and visible eyes.
- Shapeshifter Mashup: Sometimes the germs combine themselves in order to form bigger, more complex constructs like a mecha robot or humans.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Unlike actual germs, all of them can transform into any shape and size they want.
- Sizeshifting: They can not only manipulate their shape but also manipulate their size, from becoming as huge as Sherm's room to shrinking to fit their petri dish complex. This is due to the growth ray bringing them to Sherm's world since when they return to being microscopic, the germs lose the ability.
Titus
- Catchphrase Insult: Tends to call anyone "Wabflocker" should they get on his nerves.
- The Leader: The de facto leader of the germs.
- The Nicknamer:
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Constantly insult others with made-up sounding swear words and other G-rated insults.
Clio
A magenta jellyfish-looking germ who fell head over heels with Sherm.- Abhorrent Admirer: She has a crush on Sherm and constantly hits on him, much to his dismay.
- My Nayme Is: Clio's name is spelled with an "i" as opposed to the more traditional "e".
- No Mouth: Unlike the other germs, she prominently lacks a mouth but still talks just fine.
- Smurfette Principle: The only female germ of the gang.
- Tertiary Sexual Characteristics:
Iggy
A pair of germs who don't share anything in common except their name and being joined to the stomach. The Green Iggy is knowledgeable while Orange Iggy is not.- Aroused by Their Voice: Orange Iggy, unlike his cartoonish-sounding brother, got a smooth, deep voice described as melodious by one of Sherm's many crushes in "Swell Spoken". It almost got Sherm the girl by voice alone.
- Blatant Lies: Very well (over)used for Orange Iggy.
- Hidden Depths: While seemingly ignoramus for his always wrong facts, Orange Iggy is quite the smooth operator thanks to his baritone voice and knowing exactly what to say when impressing the ladies.
- Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Orange Iggy always babbles nonsensical facts as if they were true. These facts often instigate Green Iggy into disputing and fighting him.
- The Smart Guy: The Green Iggy.
Whoosh
- Armless Biped: A limbless variant though moving is no problem to him since he can fly.
- Token Flyer: He can inexplicably fly which is the only ability that the other germs don't collectively have.
Oboes
- The Big Guy: Is significantly larger than the rest of the germs.
- Big Eater: All the germs can eat but Oboes takes the cake.
