Main Characters

    Ruri Aoki
The titular main character. Not only she has to deal with problems of her awakening dragon traits, she also has to deal with normal teenager problems concurrently.
  • Absurd Phobia: She has some odd fears when it comes to ordinary life, such as being too scared to enter a Starbucks.
  • Animal Eyes: Her eyes turn slitted when she first breathes fire, and stay that way from then on.
  • Breath Weapon: She can breathe fire. After her initial incontinence, she had some training to the point of not accidentally discharging it but only if her body is ready to use it.
  • Disappeared Dad: Ruri discovers her dad's absence is because he's a dragon who lives in the mountains.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Her dragon side has very quick healing compared to a human, with her burns clearing up in a few days. Her mother casually suggests she could even heal a broken bone in a few days as well.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Ruri's mother is a human, but her father was a dragon, something which she is not aware of until the beginning of the story.
  • Horned Humanoid: Two horns, one each side of her forehead. The one-shot ends with her growing another pair of horns right next to them.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: After accidentally breathing fire for the first time, Ruri has a harder time trying to do it on command. After some off screen training, as long as her body is ready, she can control herself to prevent accidentally discharging it.
  • Just Woke Up That Way: Ruri wakes up in the morning to find that she's spontaneously sprouted horns.
  • Lazy Bum: Would prefer to just laze around home. Her mother claims that it could be a trait of her dragon side, as they are known to be lazy.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Ruri's mother is a Passionate Sports Girl. Ruri herself, not so much.
  • Not a Morning Person: Ruri has issues waking up in the morning for school. In Chapter 8, when it's Saturday, she doesn't get out of bed until past 10am, and on the Sunday afterwards, having exhausted herself at a sports center, she's still in bed come lunchtime.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Aside from being a half dragon girl, she seems to find it harder to just deal with ordinary school life than her abilities.
  • Power Glows: Her horns glow when she's about to let off electricity.
  • Power Incontinence: Ruri's powers have a tendency to go off by themselves. In Chapter 8, her mother explains that her powers are in a "frenzy", something that happens to dragons every now and then, and takes her to a sports complex to work it off; whether this will help temper the problem in future chapters remains to be seen.
  • Required Secondary Powers: After she accidentally uses her fire breath, she causes major damage to her throat as she still has a "human throat" and coughs up a lot of blood. After she uses her fire breath again, she feels no pain as her dragon throat has grown in.
  • Shock and Awe: In chapter 6, she discovers her third dragon trait is electrostatic discharge. In chapter 7, she learns it's actually a side-effect of her new trait, calling lightning.
  • Single Specimen Species: She's the first half-dragon.

    Umi Aoki
Ruri's mom.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In the one-shot she's rather lazy and dismissive of Ruri's concerns, but in the series she's more attentive to her.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Couldn't find the right words to tell Ruri her father was a dragon until she grew horns.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: By her own admission, she occasionally has to beat up Ruri's father to remind him that what may not be a big deal for a dragon can sometimes be catastrophic for a human. Ruri can only ponder how "[her] mom is a beast" in response.
  • Gamer Chick: Lets off steam by playing video games. Ruri sometimes joins in.
  • Interspecies Romance: At some point she had an affair with a dragon that resulted in Ruri.
  • Jack of All Trades: When it comes to sports, demonstrating skill in basketball, baseball, tennis, and table tennis, and implied to be good at volleyball and soccer.
  • Mentor Archetype: Helps Ruri with figuring out her draconic traits and letting them off safely.
  • Ms. Exposition: Explains to Ruri what's going on with all the dragon stuff, although because she's not a dragon herself, and Ruri's the first of her kind, she doesn't know the full details.
  • Parents as People: Up until Ruri grew horns, she'd been too busy with work to spend time with her, and didn't know how to tell her she was half-dragon. Once Ruri's draconic traits start coming through, she seizes on the opportunity to spend more time with her daughter.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: She's older than the usual stereotype, but she's passionate about all sorts of sports.
  • Secret-Keeper: Kept quiet about Ruri's dad being a dragon until she grew horns. Ruri complains it left her feeling isolated.
