Shane Madej

Known best for co-hosting the hit BuzzFeed show BuzzFeed Unsolved, Shane is the producer and main host of Ruining History. Snarky and enthusiastic, Shane narrates each episode and does his best to keep everyone interested in the topic at hand.

• Big Guy, Little Guy: With Ryan, as usual.
• Deadpan Snarker: As in Unsolved, Shane retains his sarcastic personality.
• Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: With Sara, his girlfriend- he's 6'4 and she barely reaches his shoulder.
• In Touch with His Feminine Side: Downplayed, but he has no qualms about putting on a gold earring for the pirate episode.
• Take That!: Shane gives one to Carnival Cruise;

Ryan Bergara

“There is sometimes serenity in being totally fucked.”

Also known for hosting (and producing) Unsolved, Ryan is Shane's ghoulfriend, who always has something snarky to say. He hates bears.

• Brutally Honest: Much more so than on Unsolved- though, it may have something to do with annoying Shane.
• Big Guy, Little Guy: The little guy to Shane's big guy.
• Butt-Monkey: Of course.
• Deadpan Snarker: He's a lot drier here than he is on Unsolved. This is helped by his aforementioned brutal honesty.

  "18 cameras looking at me and I've got an eyepatch on, so let's do it."

• Oh, Crap!: Has one of these moments after he says, "Dead men tell no tales."
  Kate: But I thought you believed in ghosts?
  (Ryan's face falls.)
  Shane: Oh yeah! What about that, idiot?
• Sir Swears-a-Lot: He curses the most out of all the main trio.

Sara Rubin

“I feel like horses don't know they're complicit in murder."

A producer at BuzzFeed and Shane's girlfriend, Sara is an artist who's unafraid of showing her distaste for certain historical events and figures.

• Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: She's around 5'4- quite a bit shorter than her boyfriend, Shane, who's 6'4. She laments this in several videos.
• Mood Whiplash: In The Horrifying Shipwreck That Inspired Moby Dick she expresses sadness that her boyfriend Shane drew the short stick in a test to see which of them would get eaten should they become stranded at sea before rather enthusiastically nodding at the camera to agree with him that his thighs are strong and would provide a lot of meat.
• Nice Girl: She thinks she'd have trouble being a pirate because she'd have to kill people.
• Pirate Parrot: She wears one on her head in the pirate queen episode.
• Quirky Curls: Sara has short, curly hair, which has often been used to describe her personality.
