"Perhaps this is my destiny."

"Minamoto no Yoshitsune was a military commander of the Minamoto clan of Japan in the late Heian and early Kamakura periods. During the Genpei War, he led a series of battles which toppled the Ise-Heishi branch of the Taira clan, helping his half-brother Yoritoomo consolidate power. In year 1189, Fujiwara no Yasuhira, the son of a trusted ally, fearing of the pressure from Yoriomo, betrayed Yoshitsune, surrounding his Koromogawa-no-tachi residence with his troops, defeating his retainers, and forcing Yoshitsune to commit seppuku. Yoshitsune is considered one of the greatest and the most popular warrior of his era, and one of the most famous samurai fighters in the history of Japan."

  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: Unlike other Legendary commanders, Minamoto is purchased and leveled up exclusively through VIP bundles and cannot use Universal sculptures to max out his skills. Ironically, this meant that he is the cheapest Legendary commander to max out in the game which says something as to how much you need spend just to max out a Legendary commander.
  • Crutch Character: He is likely the first Legendary commander that you can max out just by purchasing his bundles and while initially a very strong commander early in the game, later in the game stronger Legendary commanders such as Genghis Khan & Saladin are introduced while Minamoto himself ended up falling behind to the dust, only useful for single player contents such as Ceroli Crisis or Ian's Ballads.
  • Disc-One Nuke: He can be bought as early as City Hall 2 and even with his first skill at only level 1, he is still of a great help when it come to defeating the Barbarians early game while also being a great unit against other players in the early game. While he unfortunately loses relevance later in the game, he still remains useful for single-player contents such as Ceroli Crisis or Ian's Ballads.
  • The Faceless: His face is entirely hidden behind a mask.
  • Glass Cannon: Deals a huge amount of damage but can't take much back.
  • Samurai: The greatest among all Japan.
