Daisuke Dojima
Voiced by: Kōki Uchiyama (Japanese); Bryce Papenbrook (English)
- Because Destiny Says So: Firmly believes that he's destined to protect everyone from danger. Naturally, he takes it really hard when Keisaku dies.
- The Chosen One: Played with. It turns out that Keisaku was the one AHRV foresaw being the most important person in the Shibuya Drift and thus selected to be the first one to man a string puppet, with Daisuke only being considered a backup. However, Milo disobeyed orders and chose Daisuke to protect everyone instead.
- Determinator: He absolutely won't give up.
- Hot-Blooded: He's rash and hot-headed, which has caused a fair amount of trouble for the SDS. He does get better as time goes on.
- Oblivious to Love: Has no idea Marimari has feelings for him. He also doesn't understand what's going on when Yumiko tries to kiss him.
Milo
Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu (Japanese); Reba Buhr (English)
- Action Girl: As is the standard for AHRV agents.
- Badass Biker: Rides a motorcycle around the wasteland.
- Screw Destiny: Comes to believe this to an extent, thanks to Daisuke's actions and refusal to let Keisaku be sacrificed in the past.
Chang Gai Steiner
Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki (Japanese); Kyle McCarley (English)
- Commander Contrarian: Is often this towards Daisuke, which brings them to blows.
- The Leader: Takes this role with the String Puppet pilots.
- Red Is Heroic: Has the suit for this.
Chang Luu Steiner
Voiced by: Rie Takahashi (Japanese); Cherami Leigh (English)
- Friendly Sniper: Takes this role for the String Puppet pilots.
Keisaku Asano
Voiced by: Soma Saito (Japanese); Griffin Burns (English)
- The Chosen One: He was originally foreseen by AHRV as the most important person in the Shibuya Drift and thus selected to be the first one to man a string puppet, with Daisuke only being considered a backup. However, due to Prophecy Twist, that wound up getting turned on its head.
- The Heart: He's shown being the one most able to keep the team together, defusing the fights between Daisuke and Gai, and his death hits everyone really hard and nearly causes them to lose hope.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Performs this twice, first when killing Chiharu in a suicide attack and then towards the end when he stops Nicholas from trying to Retgone Daisuke from the timeline.
- Nice Guy: Comes with being The Heart of the group.
Marin "Marimari" Tamari
Voiced by: Manaka Iwami (Japanese); Erika Harlacher (English)
- Girlish Pigtails: Sports a pair of these.
- Oblivious to Love: Is oblivious to Keisaku's own crush on her.
- Shrinking Violet: Is shy and unsure of herself, but becomes stronger over the course of the series.
Officer Kanae Izumi
Voiced by: Yuka Terasaki (Japanese); Christine Marie Cabanos (English)
- You Are in Command Now: After Kuroiwa's death, she assumes command of the police.
Chief Ryohei Kuroiwa
Voiced by: Masaki Terasoma (Japanese); Jake Green (English)
- Da Chief: Of the Shibuya PD.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Listens to Milo, helps the pilots out and generally is dedicated to the safety of the people.
- Sacrificial Lion: Is killed late into the series in the stand-off between him and Mayor Muta.
Mayor Seiichiro Muta
Voiced by: Nobuo Tobita (Japanese); Joe Ochman (English)
- Bald of Evil
- Dirty Coward: Cares nothing for the people as long as he can save his own skin.
- The Quisling: "Negotiates" with the Revisions in hopes of getting people sent back to Shibuya.
The Revisions
Nicholas
Voiced by: Hōchū Ōtsuka (Japanese); Keith Silverstein (English)
- Beware the Silly Ones: Has the appearance of a cutesy dog plushie, but is really the most dangerous of the Shibuya Revisions.
- A God Am I: After merging with Keisaku, he's an immortal being existing in all time simultaneously. He makes very sure to let everyone know that.
- Gravity Master: Has this power and isn't afraid to use it.
- The Starscream: After he gets his new body, he murders Mukyu.
- Unskilled, but Strong: After his merge, he's of immense power and able to use Keisaku's Dark One form, but he keeps repeating the same attack pattern, which Daisuke picks up on quickly.
Chiharu
Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa (Japanese); Lauren Landa (English)
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Screams, cries, and begs for her life as Keisaku crushes her to death.
- Ms. Fanservice: That skimpy little cutout leotard outfit of hers leaves nothing to the imagination.
- Your Head Asplode: Keisaku kills her by crushing her head like an overripe tomato.
Mukyu
Voiced by: Yukari Tamura (Japanese); Melissa Fahn (English)
- Beware the Silly Ones: Not to quite the same extent as Nicholas, but she is a clownish sadist with an army at her command.
- Elegant Gothic Lolita: Her communication body's outfit.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: For all that they may bicker with each other, she truly loves her sister Chiharu and is heartbroken by her death.
