  • Evil Matriarch: The dramatic version. She will gladly send her children, nieces, and nephews to their deaths if it means they can kill Cassius.
  • Foil: A subtle one to Darrow in Iron Gold. Both of them are married to the leader of their faction and deliberately go against the orders of their government for a cause they believe in. But where Darrow is try to end a war as quickly as possible, Dido is trying to start one. And where Darrow deliberately avoids seizing power to avoid a civil war despite the Senate's fears of him pulling a military coup, Dido actually does launch a coup with the goal of installing herself as the Rim's Sovereign, nearly causing a civil war on Io until after Romulus's trial.
  • War Hawk: In contrast with her more pragmatic husband, Dido continues to sound a rallying cry for war against the Republic.
     Aeneas au Raa

  • Killed Offscreen: Aeneas is killed during the Battle of Ilium in Morning Star, with his death only being shown through archived helmet cam footage in Iron Gold when Romulus is placed on trial to determine if he knew about Darrow destroying the Ganymede Docks.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Gets killed after his one and only appearance in Morning Star.

  • Even Evil Has Standards: Diomedes genuinely abides by a code of honor and refuses to duel Cassius when his mother orders him too since Cassius is their guest.
  • I Gave My Word: As part of Diomedes's honor he takes his oaths very seriously, refusing to ever break them. Athena knows this and that's why she makes him swear to end the Color Hierarchy, since he will do everything he can to do so if he swears, and he does.
