Given the author's penchant for both fleshing out characters the mangaka of the original series leaves no focus to, in addition to the standard cast, and love of making his own original gems, Reap the Pain has an interesting cast of old and new faces alike. For the sake of audiences familiar with the English dubs of both original source materials, names will be written in Western Order.

Note: Due to the time frame, For the NARUTO characters featured in the story, the images from The Last: Naruto the Movie are featured to give readers a general idea of their appearances.

"You're right, I don't understand what you've endured, and you have to go through now. My life, while I can say is similar in certain ways, has been radically different in many others. I never had to suffer, or undergo such prolonged trials. My perspective may even seem naive in some respects compared to what you had to put up with. But, I can tell you this. I know what it's like to be helpless. I can't tell you how many times I've felt desperate or incredibly weak in the past. I've lost the most important person in my life because I was weak and unable to protect myself. The fact that Neji had to step in to save me gnaws at my very being! And yet, I know I'm different than I was. I'm stronger than I ever had been in the past. While I was careless this time, I know I can use my strength better if I'm given the chance. I will stop the Akatsuki, and I won't needlessly throw my life into jeopardy to do it either! I'll do everything in my power to save this world from its own misery and bring down the bastards that made it this way!"

The protagonist of Bleach, and the one who carries the torch of protagonist in Reap the Pain as well. Originally hailing from another world entirely, Ichigo was dropped into the world of Naruto during a misadventure in the Dangai Precipice World.

Due to the death of Naruto Uzumaki prior to the beginning of the story, Ichigo's appearance in the war-torn world of Naruto quickly led to the Shinobi resistance seeing him as a figure to rally around, and Ichigo's own conviction and habit of playing hero led to him becoming the group's unwitting leader.

His Zanpakutō is Zangetsu, an overlarge trench knife with immense power. His Bankai is Tensa Zangetsu, a slender pitch-black long sword which compresses his vast power within his body, allowing him to perform combat at blinding speeds and with great strength. Unlike the original series, Ichigo's adventures ceased after the Fullbring incident, where Ichigo spent a year after honing his own abilities, as such, possess a unique array of abilities not featured in the original Bleach.

  • All-Loving Hero: Ichigo once made a vow to himself to never let anyone suffer a sad face the way he did when his mother died. As such, just like in the canon material, Ichigo simply cannot let someone in need go without help. Only in this case, it now applies on a global scale. Konohamaru actually tries to call him out on this.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: Ichigo and Zangetsu work in sync now, so this is simply how they relate to each other.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Ichigo is the furthest thing from an evil person; in fact, if it weren't for several small vices he'd probably be pure of heart. However, one of his strongest traits are his Hollow powers, beings of inherent malice that prey on innocent souls.
  • BFS: Ichigo's Zangetsu takes the form of an overly large trench knife.
  • Big Eater: While Ichigo has never shown this side of himself in the original source material, in Reap the Pain, Ichigo eats enough food to give Goku a run for his money. The reason for this is Ichigo simply has so much spiritual energy, and, due to being constantly on the move, needs to eat a great deal more food than an ordinary human to replenish his energy in such a short amount of time.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: The product of Ichigo's All-Loving Hero status is his inability to not play the hero, even if he doesn't consider himself one. Konohamaru calls him out on this.
  • Deus ex Machina: Ichigo is a walking version of this. Before he arrived, the world of Naruto had no champion at all. Now a man with the strength of a tailed beast is on the side of the resistance. It's almost as if prayers were answered.
  • Elemental Powers: With Fullbring, Ichigo can manipulate the souls of the elements to control them.
    • Blow You Away: Supplementary; he can Fullbring the air to accelerate his movements.
    • Dishing Out Dirt: Ichigo can Fullbring the ground to create waves of moving earth.
    • Playing with Fire: Fullbrought Sasuke's normal Fire Release to disperse them. He also Fullbrought the Amaterasu flames off of Neji's body when he was dying.
    • Shock and Awe: Ichigo Fullbrought Sasuke's Lightning Release to empower his own Getsuga Tenshou.
  • Energy Weapon: Ichigo can fire a Cero from the tip of his sword.
  • Healing Factor: Ichigo's ability to regenerate as a Hollow becomes far more apparent now that his powers are all part of one cohesive core.
  • I'm Not a Hero, I'm...: Ichigo doesn't consider himself a hero; even in canon he said he wasn't Superman. He's simply doing what he thinks is right, and if someone is committing wrongdoing, he feels the need to stop them.
  • Mundane Utility: Ichigo used Fullbring on his own Shihakusho to turn the collar into a hood so he could hide his distinctive orange hair.
  • Official Couple: With Hinata, as of chapter 10; even stated in the author's notes.
  • The Paragon: Ichigo's most valuable trait to the resistance is that he inspires everyone to fight simply by existing, due to how hopeless the situation was before he came along.
  • Precision F-Strike: Ichigo let's looose a spectacular one in chapter 15.
Ichigo: DOES YOUR PEACE JUSTIFY A MOUNTAIN OF BODIES, YOU FUCKING PSYCHOPATH?!
  • Pure Magic Being: While in the world of NARUTO, Ichigo is essentially a human Tailed Beast, being a living mass of chakra, much in the same way a soul is composed of spiritrons in the BLEACH universe.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Ichigo is this to borderline everyone in the main cast; he reminds everyone so much of Naruto that they'll do their damndest to keep him alive. Only Konohamaru seems immune to this.
  • Soul Power: Ichigo's Fullbring ability allows him to manipulate the souls of matter to transform objects or give them special properties, particularly to objects he's closed to. Ichigo's skill in Fullbring - unlike in canon, where he stopped using any abilities associated with it upon regaining his Shinigamia abilities - have developed to the point of being able to transform any objects, even ones he's not attached to, though the transformation is basic.
  • Sword Beam: His Getsuga Tenshou, as always, falls under this category. And given the perspective of technique power that Naruto characters are used to seeing, the scale is often portrayed as godly.
    • His new technique, Getsuga Kusaishou, fires a projectile in the shape of his own blade, similar to Harribel's Ola Azul.
  • Trapped in Another World: Ichigo's current predicament.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Forget hitting; if a girl strikes first and is a threat to his comrades, Ichigo will outright murder them. Akimai and Shigure found this out the hard way.
    • In the case of comrades, Ichigo will hold back, as was evidenced when Hinata was possessed by the Zero Tails and Ichigo only hit Hinata with enough force to rip the trees off their roots near their proximate area. Due to the fact that she's someone he cares for, and compared to Shigure and Akimai, that was a love tap.

Zangetsu

Zangetsu is the Zanpakutō spirit for Substitute Shinigami, Ichigo Kurosaki. The fatherly mentor of Ichigo in the ways of Shinigami combat and how to use his power to the utmost potential possible. Having been born inside of Ichigo since Isshin Shiba's own Shinigami powers were fused within the Hollow that had infected Masaki Kurosaki by a Proto-Hollow named "White". Since then he has called out to Ichigo his name, only being heard when Kisuke Urahara put him in mortal jeopardy of being overwhelmed by the Hollow aspect of his spiritual powers.

Since then, the bond between Ichigo and Zangetsu has been strengthened over their many trials. Even though they were briefly seperated after the end of the White War, when Ichigo severed his connection with his Shinigami powers. When imbued with the Gotei 13's Spiritual Power to "regain" his lost powers, Zangetsu's form had fused permanently with Ichigo's inner Hollow, the other half of his own powers. With Fullbring fusing his being together, he is now leagues above the power he once was, and continues to aid Ichigo as an inseparable partner as well as teacher.

Besides being a renowned swordsman that surpasses Ichigo's own inherent skill, Zangetsu's prime abilities come from his Zanpakutō power; Able to harness his own Spiritual Pressure and release into condensed, compressed, or expansive waves of Spiritual Energy for offensive purposes. His signature and first known ability, Getsuga Tenshō, is a crescent moon shaped blaze of severing hot Spirit Energy that cuts and burns everything in its path and on occasion detonates with the force of a large explosion. Having since reigned in his own Hollow as being a part of him, Zangetsu has a naturally high resilience to attacks of high caliber, as well as release potent beams of explosive Spiritual Energy known as a Cero.

  • Deadpan Snarker: Snarking is actually Zangetsu's most common ability, even more than the Getsuga. Reap the Pain gives Zangets far more screentime, and thus the man's sarcastic and witty nature comes into light in addition to the wise, older figure he is shown to be.
    Hinata Hyūga
"NO! I'm not running away or giving up! That's who I am. I'm standing up for what I believe in, no matter what. That's my Nindo, my Ninja Way!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_inline_neh1akk2wx1rngs7k_9691.png

The heir to Konohagakure's esteemed Hyūga clan; originally the Shrinking Violet of the original cast, inspiration by Naruto and pressure from her own family members caused Hinata to develop into a confident and capable kunoichi.

Much like the surviving cast, the death of Naruto and destruction of everything that made the Shinobi world what it is made a great impact on Hinata. With repeated suffering piling up, Hinata was deprived of her usual kind disposition and optimistic outlook, creating an embittered girl.

Despite this, Hinata is a cunning and courageous woman. Capable of establishing strategies on the fly in tandem with assisting allies, Hinata can stand up to the likes of Akatsuki if given the right tools to complete the task. She is a vital and irreplaceable part of the Konoha Resistance.

Her Jutsu is comprised of synchronizing her Kekkei Genkai, the Byakugan, with her Gentle Fist style of Taijutsu. Doing so allows her to manipulate her Chakra to slice air currents, create avatars of solidified energy, and nullify the enemy's Chakra itself.

  • All Love Is Unrequited: As far as her relationship with Naruto went, given he died before the start of the series, he was never able to have a chance to reciprocate Hinata's feelings.
  • Animal Motifs: Lions.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: Hinata and Rock Lee fought Sasuke Uchiha side-by-side and they even stood their ground!
  • Battle Aura: Similarly to Sasuke's Susanoo, Hinata can generate a shroud of pure chakra to aid her in battle. Her's takes the form of a lion, and proves to be capable of keeping an early stage Susanoo at bay.
  • Berserk Button: When Hinata is around, it's unwise to push the Naruto button.
    • Turns out she has an Ichigo button now too, after becoming his girlfriend. Word to the wise, simply don't threaten the men Hinata loves.
  • Big Eater: Much like Ichigo, after gaining Shinigami powers, Hinata can put away enough food to fit into Dragon Ball Z. This is simply due to her immense increase in spiritual energy, and due to limited time to rest, requires more food to recover quicker.
  • Broken Bird: The death of Naruto, the destruction of her village, massacre of her clan, and death of Neji have all had this effect on Hinata, both before, and during the story. Poor girl's had it rough.
  • Determinator: She wouldn't be Hinata without it. Naruto's death may have broken her cheerfulness but his will still lives on in Hinata.
  • The Dulcinea Effect: The initial effect Hinata has on Ichigo, though it helps that he'd save damn near anyone. Time will tell if it becomes more than this.
  • Deuteragonist: Hinata is the second most important character in the story, after Ichigo, receiving just as much focus as he does.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Byakugan users have pupil-less, silver eyes.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Not entirely, but after being possessed, used to attack her friends, and then Shinigamified by Ichigo, Hinata is understandably stressed when she heard of everything she did and wasn't in the mood for Ichigo's own explanation.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Twice in the series, actually. The first time was when Hinata was possessed by the Zero Tails, rendering her a hybrid of Human and a Hollow. When Ichigo purged the Zero Tails from her being, he gifted her with Shinigami powers, thus making her like him; a Human / Shinigami Hybrid.
  • Heir to the Dojo: Hinata was the heiress to the Hyūga clan before Pain decided Konohagakure looked better as a crater. Unlike Sasuke, however, Hinata doesn't seem to be vying to reclaim her clan's lost honour.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Like all Shinigami, Hinata wields an ornate katana.
  • Last of Her Kind: Given the destruction of Konoha, the death of Neji, and the MIA nature of her father and sister, Hinata is, until confirmed in story, the last living member of the Hyūga clan.
  • Magical Eye: The Byakugan. It affords her the following abilities:
    • Aura Vision: The Byakugan's main ability is to see Chakra, inside and out of the body.
    • Super-Senses: The Byakugan possesses telescopic vision, as well as the ability to see nearly 360 degrees around the user.
    • True Sight: The Byakugan is capable of seeing through illusion as well as other visually disabling jutsu like the Hidden Mist technique.
    • Vein-o-Vision: The Byakugan gives Hinata the ability to see the chakra network, which helps her strike the chakra points through her Gentle Fist.
    • X-Ray Vision: The Byakugan allows the user to see into and through their target's clothes, skin, flesh, etc, allowing for better pinpointing of chakra nodes.
  • Me's a Crowd: Post Naruto's death, Hinata has learned the Shadow Clone technique, possibly in tribute to him.
  • Mythical Motifs: Her Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists, Gentle Fist Lion Mantle, and a majority of her Gentle Fist techniques are not only styled after lions, but after the Komainu, otherwise called 'Lion Dogs', said to rush away evil souls from Japanese temples.
  • The Power of Hate: Believe it or not, the Zero Tails fed on the despair and resentment in Hinata's heart when it took over her body, amplifying it and turning her into a force of pure malevolence. This is about as healthy as the Uchiha's Curse of Hatred.
  • Prophet Eyes: Due to the Byakugan.
  • Official Couple: With Ichigo, as of chapter 10; even stated in the author's notes.
  • Spectacular Spinning: Gentle Fist, Spiral Heaven Drop creates a spiraling drill of chakra around Hinata's body.
  • Touched by Vorlons: To purify Hinata, who was merged with the Zero Tails, Ichigo gave her a quarter of his Shinigami power. This purged the Zero Tails from Hinata's body and gifted the girl with Shinigami abilities.
    Neji Hyūga
"Someone I knew risked going to Hell and back for the simplest of reasons! He befriended those who were friendless. Protect those who shouldn't be protected. And told a certain someone that he wasn't destined to be trapped by fate and that he was a genius!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neji_part_ii_8770.png
One of the major inspirational characters of Naruto, and the one who was a foundation for the main protagonist, Naruto, to push forward to become the man he was revered in Canon. Originally a bitter Shinobi who was raised in the Branch Family of the Hyuga Clan, despising his surrogate sister/blood cousin Hinata for being part of the Main House of the Clan. Due to his defeat at the hands of Naruto and his knowledge of his father's wishes upon his demise, Neji turned his life around and became one of the most reliable supporting protagonists in the series.

Upon Naruto's death, Neji takes up the mantle of searching for a way to bring about a world where Naruto would have been happy in. In doing so he's become one of the de facto leaders of the Konoha Resistance, using his intelligence and natural abilities to lead his charges safely and victoriously through a number of skirmishes with the Akatsuki's forces.

Neji's Jutsu is comprised of synchronizing his Kekkei Genkai, the Byakugan, with his Gentle Fist style of Taijutsu. In doing so Neji is one of the most versatile fighters in the entirety of the surviving Konoha Shinobi force.

  • An Arm and a Leg: In their fight, Sasuke cut off one of his arms.
  • Handicapped Badass: Even without an arm, Neji still manages to trash talk Sasuke and successfully attacks Sasuke with only a single arm.
  • Brainy Brunette: He's highly intelligent.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: No pupils, as a Byakugan user.
  • Heroic Vow: Neji pleged to Naruto after his death to fix their broken world, even if it killed him. He should have worded that more carefully.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Neji delivers a good one to Sasuke.
Neji: Sharingan may possess incredible sharp sight, but it can't see the future of what its eyes don't look towards!
  • The Leader: Neji fits this role in relation to the Konoha Resistance. Neji is the Levelheaded type, capable of making critical decisions when the time comes down to it, and forms the groups plans of action. After he dies, Ichigo takes up the mantle.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Neji of all people pulls this on Sasuke to save Ichigo's life. It costs him his own.
  • Magical Eye: The Byakugan. It affords him the following abilities:
    • Aura Vision: The Byakugan's main ability is to see Chakra, inside and out of the body.
    • Super-Senses: The Byakugan possesses telescopic vision, as well as the ability to see nearly 360 degrees around the user.
    • True Sight: The Byakugan is capable of seeing through illusion as well as other visually disabling jutsu like the Hidden Mist technique.
    • Vein-o-Vision: The Byakugan gives Neji the ability to see the chakra network, which helps him strike the chakra points through her Gentle Fist.
    • X-Ray Vision: The Byakugan allows the user to see into and through their target's clothes, skin, flesh, etc, allowing for better pinpointing of chakra nodes.
  • Prophet Eyes: Due to the Byakugan.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Neji is by no means weak, however, his death at the hands of Sasuke is what helped set the notion that people can and will die in this story.
  • You Remind Me of X: The reason Neji (and everyone else) follows Ichigo. In a twist, he didn't say it to Ichigo, but instead to Sasuke when the Uchiha inquired as to why Neji would go so far to save someone he's barely met.

    Konohamaru Sarutobi
"You don't even care what Neji told you, did ya!? We've suffered so much! We've had to watch our friends die just so we could live. I've even seen people I called comrades abandon us so that they could save their own skins because of how hopeless this world has become! If...if Big Bro Naruto was here...if...if he stopped Pain...none of this would be happening!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_nejmy45ysv1s01t7io1_500_7886.jpg
The nephew of Asuma Sarutobi, and the grandson of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the late Third Hokage. Konohamaru was introduced early in the original series as a counterpart to Naruto; a bratty, disrespectful half-pint craving for attention. Idolizing Naruto as a Big Brother Mentor figure (referring to him as Naruto-niichan).

After becoming a student and later graduate of the Academy, Konohamaru became part of Team Ebisu; a team comprised of himself, Moegi and Udon. Being it's troublemaker and mastermind of most initiatives the three take, Konohamaru is both charismatic and eccentric whenever he's around his friends, often being reined in by Moegi and chided by Udon for his more wilder schemes.

Much like Hinata, the death of Naruto had a very huge impact on Konohamaru; if anything, it made Konohamaru ruder, and brattier, and far more eager to rush into a situation without properly considering the ramifications. However, due to having lost everyone he's cared for besides his immediate team, the death of his surrogate older brother has improved Konohamaru's resolve to protect his own teammates, refusing to let anyone close to him die again. It's hinted that, during the time between Pain's attack on Konoha and the main story, Konohamaru had an altercation with Sasuke Uchiha, and it earned him a scar across the bridge of his nose.

His Jutsu is comprised of the Rasengan, a rapidly rotating sphere of energy that drills into his opponents. The Shadow Clone technique, an ability to create multiple solid copies of himself. The Sexy Jutsu, and its more advanced form, the Harem Jutsu, are ones that transform Konohamaru and/or his Clones into sexy female forms to often catch male enemies/opponents off guard in any given situation. All these Jutsus have been taught to him by Naruto himself.

Other techniques involving the Fire Release are ones he learned from his Clan, particularly from his Uncle, Asuma Sarutobi. Even more Advanced Techniques like the Multi-Shuriken Clone Jutsu were passed down to him, from his grandfather Hiruzen Sarutobi. It is unclear just how many techniques he's learned from his Clan and what depth his capable of using them. Only time will tell just how great the mettle of this young Shinobi truly is.His jutsu consists of the Rasengan, an energy sphere taught to him by Naruto, the Shadow Clone technique, a jutsu which allows him to create duplicates of himself, and Fire Release, the general elemental affinity of his clan.

  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Weaponised. The first jutsu Konohamaru ever learned was the Sexy Technique, which turns him into a hot female version of himself, usually used to get the better of male opponents. He also can utilized the Harem Technique, which is the Sexy Technique on a larger scale.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Konohamaru has actually not matured in the two years since Naruto's death. Granted, he has a lot to be angry about.
  • Declaration of Protection: A variant. Konohamaru told Moegi he refuses to lose her after losing everyone else.
  • Energy Ball: Konohamaru's signature technique, the Rasengan. Due to Naruto and Jiraiya's death, he's the last living user of this technique.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has a scar across the bridge of his nose, courtesy of Sasuke Uchiha. Notably, the scar is identical to the one the late Iruka Umino had.
  • Me's a Crowd: Inherits Naruto's Shadow Clone technique.
  • Playing with Fire: His clan's inherent nature.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: To the general effect of having one.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Konohamaru is anything but fond of Ichigo; when the boy thinks Ichigo is being egotistical or just plain hates what he does, he will speak up about it.

Nagato of the Hidden Rain, more infamously known by his title and moniker within the clandestine organization he leads, Pain of the Sixth Paths. Born of the Uzumaki parents, Fusō and Ise, Nagato lived in the war torn poor country that would house one of the most dominating Hidden Villages in the future. When deranged Leaf Ninja broke into their home, looking for supplies and loot, Nagato watched helplessly as his parents were killed in cold blood, triggering a psychological phenomena that awakened the legendary Rinnegan he inherited by unknown means. From there, he'd meet and be befriended by two fellow orphans, Yahiko and Konan, who would help start the infamous organization that would be called the Akatsuki.

When Yahiko, his best friend and the Akatsuki's avowed leader, perished in an act of betrayal set up by Lord Hanzo and Danzo of the Leaf, Nagato ceased being the kind hearted man. Adopting a cold, merciless persona to enact his plans for dominating the world and forcing peace upon the great nations across the continent, he'd use the corpse of Yahiko as a spiritual avatar to be "The Head" of the Akatsuki. Since then, Nagato has gathered other bodies called "Paths" to total up to Six (hence the title, Six Paths of Pain,). All comprising of various individuals of people surrounding his mentor, Jiraiya, or his last true rival, Naruto, that were connected to them in some fashion of obscure origins.

After the fateful battle within the Hidden Leaf, Pain bested Naruto on his legs, capturing him and soon after extracting the Nine Tails from his lifeless body. During the Five Kages Summit, of which to replace the catatonic Tsunade, Pain had Madara Uchiha announce their ultimatum to the four present Kages of the Four Great Shinobi Villages barring the Hidden Leaf. When they adamantly rejected, Pain executed them with the help of Madara, revealing their corpses to the remaining leadership to enact a treaty that'd effectively disarm the Ninja Villages as military powers within the Five Great Ninjas.

It wasn't until shortly after that Pain made radical changes to the world in a matter of two years. From the official purge of the barely rebuilt Hidden Leaf Village, the annihilation of the Land of Lightning and its Hidden Cloud Village, making the Hidden Rain the center of culture and power within the world, Pain is synonymous for strength and world peace within all of society. Establishing The Order of Pain, all Ninjas that serve the Akatsuki and Hidden Rain bear the band of the spiral eye, signifying their allegiance to the God of the Shinobi World.

Pain uses a variety of Jutsu that puts most Shinobi of the highest caliber to shame. Having access to the most infamous Doujutsu of legend, The Rinnegan, Pain has access to all five Chakra Natures in which any of the element Ninjutsu is made readily available to him or any of his Paths. On top of this, Nagato's Six Paths Jutsu gives him a number of unnatural abilities that set himself apart from even the most revered Clans. Among them is the ability to communicate over long distances with Chakra alone into corpse puppets, using their own faux Rinnegan to increase the range of his vision to cover multiple angles and fight in tandem with each other in a show of omnipotent perception. While each of the Paths retain an individual ability of their own, it isn't unfeasible for Nagato himself to use each of the unique Jutsu on his own and with greater effect. No matter the number of techniques and Jutsu he's shown in the past, the past two years have allowed Pain to nurture his talents to greater heights than before, rumoring among the Akatsuki of a strength he has yet to show to the world since his self imposed isolation within the Hidden Rain Village's center highest tower.

  • Adaptational Badass: Unlike in canon, where Pain lost to Sage Naruto, in this story, through a clever use of the Banshō Ten'in, Pain manages to defeat Naruto. Additionally, his paths possess skills they lacked in the original manga, such as the ability to use multiple nature releases — something Jiraiya theorized but was never shown.
  • Badass Boast: Like Madara, Pain is quite fond of delivering these and does so very effectively.
Pain: Sacrifice is necessary to gain anything in life. Just as it sacrificed part of your life to gain strength, lives were sacrificed so that true peace could be attained. Yet, with you reaping the lives of my comrades you intend to undo that sacrifice many have been offered for peace's sake. For that, Reaper, you will die.
  • People Puppets: Uses corpses as hosts/weapons.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Pain doesn't seem to care how much skin a female Path's body shows; best exemplified with one of his Paths suffered enough clothing damage to reveal the sports bra underneath, she was hardly fazed. This makes sense, given the person behind the body is actually a male.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Barring what he did to Hinata during his battle with Naruto, it goes from hitting to killing, given how he acquired Ino's body to use as his new Human Path after the destruction of the previous.
    Madara Uchiha
"Now that I have your undivided attention, I shall begin with the introductions. My name is Madara Uchiha. I am part of an organization you are all aware and quite familiar with. Its name is the Akatsuki, and its actions have changed the world more than you all know."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tobi_is_madara_7251.png
Madara Uchiha, son of Tajima Uchiha, was revered in his time as one of the strongest Shinobi of the Five Great Nations. Rising to the top along with his brother, Izuna, he became the most powerful of his Clan and established dominance as its leader. During the continuous struggle for survival against the Senju Clan, Madara lost his brother to the hands of Hashirama's brother, Tobirama, to fatal injuries. Gaining the power of Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan through his brother's eyes being gifted to him before death, Madara faced Hashirama one last time in combat only to be defeated utterly.

Through an agreement to end the bloodshed, Madara and Hashirama formed a alliance between their Clans. After this happened, they began building a Village, composing of many Clans within the Land of Fire, later to be called Konohagakure or The Village Hidden in the Leaves. Despite their newfound union, Madara's reading of the Stone Tablet, a relic passed down by the Uchiha for generations, began to warp his mind and realize the slow degradation of the Clan's relationship with the Village. Taking initiative to overthrow the current system, Madara engaged in mortal combat with Hashirama one last time only to be defeated yet again and presumed dead.

Decades later, Madara has returned and is mysteriously empowered with newfound strange abilities unlike those he had in the past. What is he now, years later, and what are his aims now? Only time can tell if this former founder of Konoha has an agenda that spells doom for all or something more...

  • Badass Boast: He's actually very fond of these.
Madara: I'll make it easy for you. Your Jutsu against mine. I won't even move from this spot.
  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: Between himself and Hidan, Madara is the tsukkomi of the duo, often reacting very violently, or at the least sighing in exasperation, due to the man's stupidity.
  • Came Back Strong: Whatever Madara has been doing in the time since Hashirama defeated him, he's acquired a plethora of new powers that would make Hashirama wish he'd been more thorough.
  • Casual Danger Dialog: Only Madara could casually finish his sentence while A attempts to punch him in half.
  • Cool Mask: During his time as 'Tobi', he had his signature mask; an orange, spiral mask with only one open eye hole. As of the current story, his hood keeps his face concealed, so it is unknown if he still wears this mask or goes maskless.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Madara aids in utterly destroying the Five Kage.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He has a tendency to make blunt, rude and disrespectful comments to his enemies. Interactions with Hidan is where this side of Madara really shine through, as the Uchiha fully regrets bringing the man back to Akatsuki.
  • The Dragon: Unlike in canon, where 'Madara' was the Big Bad to Pain's Dragon, Madara is Pain's right hand man, as it stands.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: However, he still goes about his own workings behind the scenes, especially with Shinnō that makes one question his loyalty.
  • Elemental Powers: Standard for most ninja, Madara, as an Uchiha, has more than likely copied several elements.
  • Evil Old Folks: As old as 'Madara' is supposed to be, to be able to tangle and kill the five Kage in nothing short of a few minutes firmly places the old man in this category.
  • The Faceless: We actually cannot see even his mask in this story as it goes covered by his hood.
  • Intangibility: Madara possess the ability to become intangible, using the same abilities as his teleportation to accomplish this feat. While intangible, all attacks pass right through him, however, the trade-off is that he also cannot attack in this state.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Averted, at least for the moment. It's common knowledge by now that 'Madara Uchiha', or 'Tobi', was Obito Uchiha. However, Reap the Pain still names the man Madara, as opposed to Tobi, despite him having the abilities Tobi's displayed in the series, hinting something more is going on.
  • Last of His Kind: Madara and Sasuke are the last living members of the Uchiha clan, due to Sasuke killing Itachi some years prior.
  • Playing with Fire: The standard Uchiha fare.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Like Sasuke, his Sharingan often gleam in the shadows. In fact, this is the most we see of his face, due to his hood.
  • Space Master: His Kamui revolves around this; transporting either his own body or others into another dimension.
  • Teleport Spam: Utilizes this against the Kage's when he utterly destroys them. Minato would be proud.
  • Teleportation: He can teleport himself anywhere he wants, and can teleport others into an alternate dimension that seems to exist within his Sharingan.
  • Those Two Guys: Madara has this dynamic with Hidan of all people, as the man's antics continue to frustrate the elder Uchiha and push him into Comically Serious territory.
  • We Can Rule Together: Madara extends this offer to Mizuki. He accepts it.
  • Weaponized Teleportation: His Kamui lets him teleport people and objects inside of a pocket dimension, and he can fire them out again.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Just ask Tsunade and Mei Terumi how Madara handles women in battle.
    Sasuke Uchiha
"Watch her burn and know that it was your fault. Take this to the grave along with all of your wretched Konoha bretheren. Whatever ties of camaraderie I've had with them has been severed by a blade sharper than any in the world. They will not receive pity or mercy from the likes of me. They will forever be hunted down by me, one by one, until the last draws breath and my brother's soul will finally rest in peace with the rest of my Clan. Nothing stands between me and my vengeance of Konoha. Not even the gods will stop me from attaining my Uchiha justice!"

Son of Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha, Sasuke is the last heir to the legacy of his Clan. Originally fueled by the purpose of claiming vengeance against the brother who slain his Clan, Sasuke pushed himself further and further away from those he cared. It eventually built up to a point where he left the Village and came to blows with Naruto himself, leaving him beaten but spared of death by his hands. When he eventually fought Itachi, he learned the horrible truth that Itachi had planned out his own death and had betrayed the Clan for the sake of the Village's security. Twisted by his grief for his brother's suffering and the pain that he had to bear for slaying his kin, Madara manipulated Sasuke into becoming an Avenge to destroy the Hidden Leaf for the happiness they reaped for the sacrifice Itachi had to endure.

Having taken the lives of Danzo, Sasuke sought out the recently rebuilt Konoha, claiming his next two victims whom were the Village Elders including the Captain of the Anbu Corps. After battling, killing, and searching across Konoha's battlescape, Sasuke learned the truth by Pain himself, as he declared Naruto dead before letting his body fall lifelessly to the ground. It was soon after he left, along with the rest of the Akatsuki, after razing the Village to the ground.Intelligent, resourceful, and powerful are the attributes that mark Sasuke as he continues his hunt for Konoha Shinobi and Kunoichi alike. Having copied a vast array of Jutsu and fighting styles, he's molded his fighting style to be beyond what he was revered for over the years. Now two years after Pain's Order has been assumed, Sasuke is one of the strongest members of the Akatsuki and holds little contender for his pedestal of strength.

His Jutsu is comprised of the Sharingan, able to shift into its advanced state known as the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. Along with the Jutsu he's copied, Sasuke can use Lightning Release, Fire Release, and his own style, Nova Release. With various summons and tools of war at his beck and call, Sasuke is never without a weapon or a power to use against his enemies.

  • Genre Savvy: Despite being a villain in the story, Sasuke complete averts Villain Forgot to Level Grind, albeit in his own way. After his loss to Ichigo, he reapplies himself, reclaiming his Cursed Seal, which had previously been removed against Itachi, and began training to master its power. Yes, Sasuke is training again.
  • Magical Eye: Sasuke's various Sharingan, which grant him these abilities and possess the following characteristics:
    • Aura Vision: The Sharingan allows Sasuke to see chakra and even discern chakra type.
    • Combat Clairvoyance: The Sharigan sharpens his eyesight by leagues. With it, he's able to read and anticipate enemy movements without missing a beat.
    • Exotic Eye Designs: With several different variations. The basic Sharingan tints the eyes red and adds three tomoe floating within. His Mangekyou Sharingan inverts colours entirely; the eyes become black again, and a red-six poined design is gained within, sort of like a flower. His Eternal Manekyou Sharingan retains the same base design, but Itachi's tomoe design is visible within the flower.
    • Hellfire: The Amaterasu he can use with his eyes. This was used to great effect against Ichigo and Neji.
    • Hypnotic Eyes: Like Itachi, Sasuke can use Tsukuyomi, though his is not as developed as he can't control the victim's perception of time.
    • Instant Armor / Guardian Entity: The Susano'o, possibly his most versatile technique.
    Shinnō
    Akimai Ashura
Born in the Land of Demons, Akimai is one of the few Kunoichi hailing from the small Village Hidden in the Miasma. Chosen by the Priestess to be the Nation's Huntress, she was charged by her country to seek out Yokai and Demon worshipers, purging them of their sinful existence through sealing and execution.

When the Order of Pain claimed new power over the world, Akimai was selected out of the country to become part of their organization, the Akatsuki. Joined together by Shigure, they later performed their first major mission by taking down Moryou, a cultiest that sought to revive an ancient Yokai from the Pre-Clan era. Since then they have been on many missions together, earning their reputation as powerful and precise Kunoichi of the Akatsuki and enforcers of the new world order.

Akimai relies upon a combination of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Bukijutsu as her main points of offense. Using deception, distraction, and guile to trick her enemies so she can guaruntee a critical hit, she is known for her accuracy and lethal aim whenever she goes in for the kill. On the rare occasion that calls upon her, she possesses powerful forms of Fuinjutsu, capable of sealing some of the most powerful Yokais and embodied cultists possible.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Akmai and Shigure share this dynamic, as the only two remaining female members in the Akatsuki besides Konan. They're paired together as partners, get along better than any other duo with the exception of Itachi and Kisame, and have fairly good chemistry together.
    Shigure Jakunen
Born in the Land of Rivers, Shigure was raised and taught in the Village of Artisans. A place founded over a century ago during the height of the Great Shinobi Wars, this town became bustling with business as they sold and distributed their weaponry and arts across the world, reaping in profit from all sides of the war. Being a natural prodigy of weapon crafts and using them, she quickly became known in her Village as the next Head of engineering for her innovations and breakthroughs in technology.

The Order of Pain took notice and quickly sought her out. Upon hearing that their business would be booming with her sign-up with the Akatsuki as a member, she gladly took the chance and left on good terms with her Village. Crafting weapons and performing dangerous missions with her own Kunoichi partner, Akimai, Shigure's name became widely known throughout the world as a master weapon user and inventor.

Her main form of combat is without a doubt, Bukijutsu. In combination with Summoning and Akimai's distractionary tactics, Shigure's weapons always pack a powerful punch. Whether its levelling a forest, bringing out an entire arsenal onto the battlefield, or whipping out a weapon with a flick of the wrist, Shigure is one formidable and innovative member of the Akatsuki not to be taken lightly.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Akmai and Shigure share this dynamic, as the only two remaining female members in the Akatsuki besides Konan. They're paired together as partners, get along better than any other duo with the exception of Itachi and Kisame, and have fairly good chemistry together.
  • Evil Counterpart: Shigure is this to Ten Ten, if only lightly. Both are the female weapon-masters of their groups, though the comparisons end here.
     Hidan
Born, raised, and trained in the former Hidden Hot Water Village, Hidan is the only true Immortal member of the Akatsuki. Because of its fall from grace, the violent Genin had sought out the Cult of Jashin, a religion dedicated to a god who revels in bloodlust and demands sacrifices born of pain and suffering. Becoming the Cult's official weapon by surrendering his soul to the god, his body ceased mortality and was turned into an unkillable instrument on the deity's behalf so murder may continue in his name without ceasing. Shortly after this, he killed his neighbours at the Village before fleeing into the wilderness.

The last to be officially recruited, the Missing Nin was found by Orochimaru and Kakuzu, shortly after the man had been converted to Jashinism. After an explosive battle that left Hidan exhausted and overpowered by the two, Orochimaru convinced the cultist to join the Akatsuki as a safe haven from being arrested and locked away due to his undying status. After joining, he became Kakuzu's partner, the first that the tempermental Shinobi couldn't kill and wasn't able even into his own death.

Extracted out of a hole that was his would-be permanent resting place, Madara Uchiha put what body parts were left into a newly molded form. Comprised almost entirely out of fresh Senju Cells, Hidan aches for the chance to continue wreaking havoc and shedding blood. All in the name of his god and for the organization that safeguards him from the world's vengeance on his deeds.

Hidan is a Shinobi that has very few skills in terms of practical Jutsu. Relying more on physical combat, the man is reliant on his speciality in Bukijutsu and Taijutsu, using these forms of combat in sync with his raw power against his enemies. His signature attack for which he bases around his strategem most of the time is his Curse technique, a skill that lies neither in Jutsu or the natural. This allows him to swallow the blood of his targets and then proceeds to link them to his own unkillable body, abusing it in a maschosic dance to inflict injury and eventual death upon them.

  • Armor Is Useless: Surprisingly averted for Naruto, Hidan's newly acquired armor does a fairly good job of protecting him. As to why he needs it, given his immortality and Healing Factor is beyond anyone's guess, but with armor that looks like Gamma Akutabi, is anyone going to complain?
  • Back from the Dead: As dead as an immortal man sealed in a grave under a forest can be anyway.
  • Bloodbath Villain Origin: Killed his fellow villagers because they made the village into a bathing resort... BECAUSE it meant no more violence.
  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: Between himself and Madara, Hidan is the boke of the duo, often due to his own stupidity and Leeroy Jenkins tendencies.
  • Dumb Muscle: Incredibly stupid, with no sense of tactics or strategy and a penchant for just charging into situations without thinking. The only thing keeping him alive is his immortality and newly acquired Healing Factor.
  • Healing Factor: Due to having a new body constructed out of Hashirama Senju's cells, Hidan acquires a very powerful healing factor to compliment his immortality.
  • Irony: Hidan, a man whose style of fighting involves self harm, is now clad in partial armor.
  • Those Two Guys: Hidan had this dynamic with Kakuzu in the past, and now, with Madara of all people. Yes, Hidan brings out the man's Comically Serious side, as Hidan's crass attitude irritate the Uchiha to no end.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Far easier to see in Reap the Pain, where Hidan's style of fighting is portrayed in a written work. It is clear to see that, while strong, Hidan lacks any true finesse, fighting more akin to a berserker, and while he may be quick on his feat and has sharp reflexes, his only true skills are taijutsu, bukijutsu, and his Curse, as he is around Genin-level in any other parameter. It's also easy to see that, between the two of them, Madara is by far the brains of the operation.
