Miki Onimaru

The new delivery girl for the Onimaru family ramen shop.

Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Miki has a very hot temper, a poor short-term memory, and she literally cannot focus in making deliveries without being distracted by helping stray dogs, beating Bit-Part Bad Guys or chasing insects.
The Bully: She is this to everybody, even her mother at one point, except Wakana and Kayahara.
But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Miki doesn't remember Kankuro, the guy she bullied as a kid.
Girlish Pigtails: She ties her hair into low pigtails, representing her immature and energetic character.
In Vino Veritas: Getting drunk turns her from a crude tomboy to the very portrait of a Yamato Nadeshiko.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: May be brash, but she actually does care a lot.
The Slacker: Deconstructed. Miki is a Womanchild who only took the job of Kanban Musume (Poster Girl) of her mother's Ramen restaurant because she could slack off all she wants there, lying to herself that her job is exciting (she's practically a Burger Fool). When she has her day off, she doesn't know what to do… because she never delivers the ramen on time, has little money, no TV nor videogames.
Womanchild: Though 20 years old (as of episode 12), she still pretty much has the mind and maturity of a 12 year old child.

Megumi Kannazuki

Miki's long-time rival and the delivery girl for the Huet bakery directly across the street from Onimaru.

Compulsive Liar: Miki cannot make Megumi confess the truth no matter how hard she tries. Deconstructed when Megumi cannot tell the Awful Truth to a child that believes Megumi is the real Hell Bunny.
Megumi: I've told a horrible, irreversible lie!
Miki: Worst of all, you tricked an innocent little kid. You're the worst kind of woman.
Megumi: I was already halfway into the lie, how could I stop?
Improbable Weapon User: She based her use of hot dog skewers on her elementary grade teacher's use of a piece of chalk on Miki, which only worked cause she was asleep in class, once.
In Vino Veritas: Just as Miki becomes a lady-amongst-ladies when drunk, Megumi becomes more like a yakuza in a similar state.
Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: She and Miki have it in for each other even more than Aeka and Ryoko do.

Makiko Onimaru

Voiced by: Sayuri Sadaoka

Miki's mother; the owner and chef of the Onimaru eatery.

Drunken Master: When she is drunk, she turns to be a drunken kung fu master.
I Was Quite a Looker: Makiko was quite beautiful back during her early motherhood; the monumental stress of raising so wayward a daughter as Miki no doubt bloated her into the way she is today.
The Noseless: She's the only character with no visible nose.
Why Are You Not My Son?: She feels this way toward hard-working Kankuro instead of lazy Miki.

Kankuro Nishiyama

A guy who just returned to the town after spending four years at college. He has a considerable grudge against Miki because she used to bully him.

Hot-Blooded: He's very fervent about his desire to take revenge on Miki.
Manchild: Case in point, rather than let go of his grudge of being bullied in his teens he wants to physically beat the former bully.
Revenge Before Reason: He refuses to give up his grudge against Miki, even though he's clearly grown more than she has. It's so serious that he can't enter the job market until he's achieved this goal. And whenever she gets drunk and acts maturely, it leaves him in tears because he can't fight her now - he's always relieved when she return to her dumb self.
Unknown Rival: He's obsessed with defeating Miki, but she can't even remember his name.
Verbal Tic: He almost always adds "nya" at the end of his sentences.
Wholesome Crossdresser: He practice the saying "To defeat your enemy, you have to know them" at one point in anime by dressing like Miki and observing how she behaves at "work".

Akihiko Ohta

The owner of the Yaoguro grocery store next door to Onimaru.

Not So Above It All: His reaction to seeing a high schooler defacing a wall is to show him how to make the graffiti more noticeable.
Otaku: He is fan of Sentai shows.

Tomoko Kayahara

Voiced by: Kaori Mine

A local high school teacher who is constantly depressed unless there's ramen nearby.

Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Her black hair and pale skin make her look like a ghost to others.
Face of a Thug: She doesn't mean to scare her students and other people, but her face seems stuck with a Death Glare except when she eats ramen.
Mistaken for Undead: Due to her appearance and demeanor, she's constantly mistaken for a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl.
Perpetual Frowner: Her facial expression is locked in a gloomy frown unless she's eating ramen.
Trademark Favorite Food: Eating ramen is the one thing that can make her smile.
When She Smiles: She almost looks like a completely different person when she smiles while eating ramen.
